We don't leave Yelp reviews ever, but felt compelled to after visiting David and the team at 20/20 Optical a few months ago now. My husband always did his eye doctor and got his glasses in the city, but no longer going there for work now, we decided to check out 20/20 right in our town and that a friend had strongly recommended ages ago now, "I get all my glasses there," she said, and was a fan of fancy glasses. My husband, less so. He always bought Oakley glasses and sunglasses because they were so popular when he was a teenager, and he's always been loyal to them. So at first we checked out that case, but there wasn't really much that spoke to him. David pulled out several pairs from around the store, many of which were misses, but eventually, he grabbed the perfect pair of frames--a great look, lightweight, well-made, some accent points, and finally not Oakleys. David knows the inventory like the back of his hand, and as he gets to the know the customer (he has some great stories, quite personable and fun) he's going to get you what you need. Add in the fact that they make the lenses there, and within a week, instead of like 6 weeks we had always been used to, you had your new glasses in hand. The rest of the team seemed great too. And I ended up with a killer price on an already-discounted pair of sunglasses they were clearing out--hard to believe how cheap they were. Better still: Since they had been on display for quite a while, they replaced the lenses to give me brand new ones for free, and I was able to choose from a few different colors and really personalize them. This is a great optical center for both prescriptions with their optometrist and selecting frames and having glasses made at 20/20. The optometrist gave me a thorough evaluation and the selection of frames at the store is extensive. David, the owner of this business, is terrific at helping to narrow the choices to something that will look good on your shape of face and coloring. I have wanted to stop in 20/20 for years because they have beautiful glasses on display. I'm so glad I finally did around six months ago. I won't go into every detail but I will give you highlights: Something went wrong and there was a delay which was bad timing for me as I was leaving town. HOWEVER- the customer service and follow up treatment more than made up it. By far. David is 100 percent focused on customer satisfaction. The eyewear 20/20 carries is beyond any other shop I have been to in the world. I'm such a glasses freak because, you know, they are on your face so might as well have good ones that you love, right? I'm talking about frames you can only find in Europe or Asia. As a matter of fact, just today I picked up my one-of-a-kind glasses that you truly cannot find anywhere else. I'm thrilled with them. The sunglasses I originally purchased are gorgeous, but something happened at the airport and an arm came off. Everyone said they were unfixable and I was super upset. Well, unbeknownst to me, David had put a one year warranty on them and they were replaced within a week! Finally I had them turn my non-prescription Tom Ford sunglasses into prescription and the lenses were shaded so perfectly. This place took care of me. Went in to order clip on sunglasses, and they went out of their way to make sure I got what I needed. I clean swimming pools and needed sunglasses. My vision seems to be changing and not quite ready to change my prescription yet, so I thought clip on sunglasses would help until I redo my regular glasses. He helped me find a pair of feather-light titanium frames by Ovvo, and David provided a perfect script for the lenses. This made me wonder why I hadn't done it sooner. Oh, and then I bought another frame! The experience of purchasing a pair of Balmain Soldier sunglasses with custom lenses was exceptional. David went above and beyond by inviting a Balmain representative named Mike to come and demonstrate the frames for me. Mike shared the unique features of the frames, sparking my curiosity and making it impossible to resist. David was very accommodating and expedited shipping on the new drop from Balmain while finalizing the custom Zeiss lenses we were swapping out. Their selection of frames is phenomenal, ranging from super fashion-forward ones to refined classics. My experience with 20/20 Optical. First, my glasses (from somewhere else) broke at the end of 2020, right during the pandemic when we were all hunkered down. In a panic I ventured out to 20/20 to get a new pair and see if they could fix my broken frames to tide me over. No problem! My new glasses have been fabulous with so many compliments and fantastic lenses. Fast forward to a few weeks ago when I returned with these glasses severely broken (lost then found having been stepped on, possibly run over, ground into the dirt...). David looked at my 4 year old glasses, sighed, and said they'd try to get them up and running for the next month before I can get a new pair. They spent hours on them and worked a miracle. You can hardly tell how bad they were damaged. I'm so happy! I recently visited 20/20 optical on 4th Street in San Rafael for new eyeglass frames. I was very impressed with the patience & customer service provided me. I could not choose between several different pairs of frames so they held them for me for a week. I returned 3 different times after my initial visit, & they were always extremely helpful & courteous from the owner to the associates who really knew the inventory & what would work for your face. They have a very large selection of frames to choose from in all styles and prices. If you are looking for glasses, you should put them at the top of the list. I mostly worked with Mariana, but also Lucy on Mariana's day off. Both were great to deal with, but you will not go wrong with anyone else who works there. I was told they validate 1 hour of parking in the lot just behind their store & have a back door you can enter by. I found plenty of street parking so did not utilize this option, so you may want to double check this with them. I recommend them highly. read more
