Very unique restaurant with a jazzy romantic vibe! The people who work there are all very polite, friendly and professional. We didn't have to wait too long for our food or anything else for that matter. We ordered the pork tenderloin and the gnocchi a la pollo which was a special I believe. My husband and I shared our meals so we got to try both! :) they were both amazing! And the chicken gnocchi was a much larger portion than I expected. Two whole chicken breasts! I had high hopes for a nice restaurant in Ft Smith. Cool location, great atmosphere and the menu reads very intriguing. Started with a martini and old-fashioned, which were very well balanced and the carpaccio appetizer was very good. My date ordered the duck breast and duck sausage and I ordered the Duroc pork ribeye. I specifically spoke with the waiter about wanting it to come out no more than medium, which he expressed that they have been coming out perfectly pink edge to edge. After about 15 minutes, we were given our entrées and my ribeye was severely overcooked. To the waiter's credit he noticed it right away when he came back to check on us, without me having to say anything. He immediately took my plate and apologized and said they would fix it, which I appreciated. Unfortunately after about another 20 to 30 minutes a second pork ribeye came out and it was pretty much the same way, definitely not medium. For the price, I expected the meal to knock my socks off. To their credit my date's duck entrée was very good and they did comp us a crème brûlée and took 50% off of my entrée, I understand that chefs can have a bad night so I will certainly give them another chance, but my first experience here left a bit to be desired. read more

21 West End earns five stars and my vote for the best overall bistro-restaurant in the Fort Smith. This city of 85,000, on the Arkansas-Oklahoma border, grew up as a military outpost in the early 1800s. While in the area on business, 21 West End surprised us with its tastefully sophisticated atmosphere and unique menu offerings. We expected friendly service here in the Deep South and we got it in spades from our gregarious server X who provided a great tour of the menu and the restaurant in general. Based on the food, service, ambience and overall dining experience, I'm sure that 21 West End would thrive in our country's biggest markets like NYC, Chicago or the City of Angels. While enjoying a bottle of a 2012 Italian Barbera, our group of 4 split two orders of Cream Cheese Crab Cakes which were everything the Yelp reviews said they would be...light,delicate and very tasty with their signature chipotle lime aioli sauce. A few in our group enjoyed Spinach Salads prior to ordering our entrees which included an order of Blackened Salmon, a pair of Rosemary Roasted Chicken Breasts and a plate of their highly touted Cognac Pork Tenderloin. I can personally vouch for the great cut of pork topped with their signature cognac Demi-glacé and caramelized pears served w/ roasted potatoes and chef's veggies...highly recommended. I felt compelled to write a review as we did not experience good service we experienced phenomenal service."!! #Ryankilledit This restaurant was a spectacular choice (hubby did good) as OUR server Ryan rose above the usual robotic service that unfortunately one see's so often in higher end establishments. Restaurants should train their staff to be more natural as genuine dispositions are always sooo much more pleasant. Not to mention easier on the server, honesty works! #honestyisRAREtheseDAYS :/ Ryan's recommendations were spot on, easy to decide when the server is so transparent. Ryan, was attentive without being contrived or overly intrusive, Ryan was in all sense of the word an AUTHENTIC guy that personalized & catapulted our experience to the 10th Power! We will always recall Ryan's personality, dog owners have a way of connecting through our pets that most don't! The food was spectacular! Cocktails were pretty tasty! The architecture in this place is special, great photo opportunity! The mood lighting really set the tone, swanky feel although a very relaxed ambiance. Stephen was our waiter and provided great service with full knowledge of bar and menu Had tomato basil soup with half plate shrimp/grits that was fantastic. Could tell roux was from scratch. This restaurant is, hands down, the best in Ft Smith and can compete with anything in NWA or even Dallas. The owner is very hands on and ensures each guests experience is the best. Our waiter, Cade, was fun, professional, and highly efficient, making our experience above and beyond exceptional. I'm still drooling over the peppermint martini. This was our first trip to 21 west end. We started out at the bar the drinks were good and reasonably priced. After the remainder of our party arrived (7 in total) we were seated. So far so good. We ordered 5 appetizers which were varying degrees of good, the best being the crab cakes followed by the Brie. This is we're things begin going down hill. A few of us ordered a drink which ended up requiring us flagging down the waiter multiple times to remind him before we finally got them. It actually became a bit of a joke. Two of us order the special halibut with scallops (I assume bay scallops given their size) while everyone else ordered from the regular menu. I will say all the food was very good but not great and that may be because some of it came out not so hot. The halibut was good however after getting the check we find out it was a $60 entree. This was not to the level of what one would expect at that price. After the meal and a couple of round of "will the waiter remember our drink this time" we wanted to order dessert. Well the waiter tried to give us our ticket in an effort to get us out of there and had to be reminded he had some desserts waiting to go out. We got the creme brûlée, it had a great taste but came out barely over room temp. After a couple of rounds of telling the server who was with who, then sending the tickets back because he didn't charge the right people the right amount or for the right items we realize the cost of said meal. I will say for a $200 dinner I expected more. Better service, more promptly delivered food, and better service. We still left a much better tip than he deserved because I couldn't bring myself to pay him what I thought he earned. I hate this is my first and likely only experience with this restaurant. Overall the food had good taste but at that price point I expect much more from the server and the food. read more

Wine was great, food was good however service was a little lacking compared to their normal levels. There were several large parties around the same time. They will continue to be in my top picks. I'm reluctant to write this review because the last thing I want to see when I return is a line or a crowd. However, the service and experience deserve a solid shout out. Very cool atmosphere in an unexpected location. Looks like nothing on your way in and ends up being a great surprise. Brennen is a skilled bartender with great recommendations and plenty of stories about the building and the town. The kitchen nailed it on deviled egg and bacon wrapped quail appetizers and short rib entree. Will definitely return for the pork tenderloin and the steaks. 21 West End changed my perception of Fort Smith for the better. Highly recommend! read more

It was double date night in Fort Smith, Arkansas, for us & our daughter and son-in-law. We searched online for a great place to eat, and we definitely found it. We loved the atmosphere. Quiet, dark, and relaxing, with the perfect live music that didn't interfere with conversation. It's in a basement, which adds to the intimate ambiance. We started off with appetizers; Wellington Cigars, beef and mushroom duxelles hand rolled in a flaky phyllo dough. Served crisp with a snifter of sauce au poivre for the guys, and the special, a fried feta and cream cheese polenta with cranberry, portobello ragu, and a vodka rosa cream. Appetizers were amazing; I don't think a morsel was left on either plate. The polenta was outstanding -- the cranberry was a sweet accompaniment to the polenta. Entrees were equally as good. I cannot remember the last time I ordered pork in a restaurant; it's just not a favorite of mine. But I was tempted by the Cognac Pork Loin and absolutely loved it -- roasted pork tenderloin topped a cognac demi-glace and caramelized pears served with roasted potatoes and chef's vegetables. They had me at caramelized pears, I have to admit. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, and my daughter ordered the vanilla bean creme brulee, which I had a small taste of. Delicious and perfectly prepared. If you're in Fort Smith, go here. It's worth the trip. We were so pleasantly surprised to find such inventive food in northwest Arkansas. A win. read more

This place is probably the best food I've ever had. And to find it in ft smith Arkansas?? It's a very rare occurrence. We came here for my grandpas 82nd birthday and it did not disappoint. At first the waiter was not very attentive and we didn't have menus for a long time. However once we started on the bottles of wine, he was a lot more involved in our table. We started off with the mushroom bruschetta which was on special for the night and it was fantastic! Great flavor and taste which was completely devoured by everyone. I ordered the chicken Oskar which the chef made special (normally it's steak) and it was the best thing I've ever had in my life. The chicken was cooked to perfection along with the perfectly paired sauce and leaping amounts of crab on top. The sea bass was also on special which my mom and aunt split, I tried a bite since I've never had it and it was also delicious! The chef was very accommodating to what we wanted/didn't want and did such an amazing job. Even the waiter said he didn't think he'd be around very long because he was THAT good! Be prepared to spend a pretty penny, but I still dream about my dish and wish I lived closer so I could come here more often. I look forward to coming back!! read more

We chose to sit at the bar the first time due to showing up unexpectedly but did so again the second time because it was such a fun experience! Brennan is a WONDERFUL bartender, well informed and knowledgeable about spirits and makes amazing special drinks. He also happens to be hilarious and even remembered us the second time! The food was wonderful as well - the chef, Paul, and his wife were so gracious and friendly as they sat at the bar and chatted with us. I hate to sell anyone on the items as I know the menu changes often, but I have loved every bite of food. The brûlée was dreamy, I will say that!! During our trip across country, we found this wonderful haven. The history of the building (shared inside the cocktail menu) was interesting yet sad and a good reminder that white wealth in this country has often come at the expense of marginalized people, like natives, being exploited and manipulated. But I digress...Our waiter, Jeffrey, was excellent. We enjoyed talking to him about gardening. We appreciated the steps the owners took to stay covid-safe and make good health a priority without ruining the dining experience. Overall, the food was excellent. I wish the squash that came with the quail was not so sweet, but adding sugar to almost everything seems like a southern thing. The hearts of romaine in the Caesar tasted dirty, like they had not been washed. Otherwise, a lovely experience! If you're in downtown Fort Smith Arkansas you need to eat here. Great wine list, very knowledgeable bartenders, and some food you would not expect to find in western Arkansas. Eg.a white Wisconsin sharp cheddar, speck, and an amazing, bacon wrapped quail breast. A-FREAKING-MAZING!!! This is the first upscale restaurant that I have been to in a while that I can honestly say -every thing was awesome!! We were in town for 1 day and found this place. We found out it's been in business for 10 Years and I can see why! There was a great variety in drinks. I had 3 different drinks and all were great!
