But what I didn't realize was that the reviews are years old. Nonetheless, I thought I was scheduled with Dr. Vacarean, the prosthodontist, but instead, I was scheduled with the general dentist, Dr. Young, for a cracked tooth. After figuring all  that out when I got there, it just went downhill. I decided to see the general dentist because I was already there and the front desk convinced me that he was very good, with all of this experience. Dr. Young and his hygienist said they did NOT see any cracks on my x-ray (from my regular dentist). However, he was very proud to note that he saw plaque and questioned the last time I had my teeth cleaned. (It had been 6 WEEKS, and I go twice a year religiously). He was a bit arrogant. He then said that I did NOT have a cracked tooth and that if I did, I'd have constant pain and couldn't take it. Well, he is WRONG!! This isn't my first cracked tooth and like before, I had pain sporadically. I know my mouth. He advised that I get a 2nd opinion from Dr. Vacarean. I set the appointment, then canceled because I didn't want any parts of that arrogance and wrong diagnosis. Good luck to anyone that chooses to go there!

My hygienist is no longer there and she was entertaining to say the least. I loved her!! She did a thorough job and my teeth felt so good! A new hygienist (I truly can't remember her name but I know she's no longer there), was the worst I've ever experienced. She was pretty much on top of my chest and I was very uncomfortable with that. Also, the check in process is a thorn in my side. Clients get handed a tablet to verify info. It's very time consuming and not necessary if all my info hasn't changed (insurance, home address, etc). I've said many times that my info is the same. One time I just flat out refused and the receptionist signed for me! I also asked "IF I get a crown today, and have an issue with it tomorrow & have to come back the next day, will I be handed the tablet again to verify my information?" (like I moved over night, lol). She said "yes!" This is the ONLY dental office I've been to that does this check in process. Just a note to Dr. Revering, my time is just as important to me as yours is to you. I'm so done!

During a "routine cleaning," my general dentist saw symptoms of an abscessed tooth, and referred me to Endodontic Excellence. They were able to get me on their schedule quickly for a consultation. I did have some initial confusion where I thought it was a one day thing, but that was because my general dentist incorrectly told me this. I thankfully was not in pain with my abscess, and I think that is why my procedure was not same day. I understand needing to reserve opening for true emergencies. Dr. Wang did my root canal (a first for me), and Alexa was her wonderful assistant. Alexa and I talked a bit before the procedure, which relaxed me. I was offered headphones to listen to music versus dental equipment, but declined them as I wear hearing aids and headphones will cause them to squeal. Honestly, I enjoyed listening to Dr. Wang and Alexa throughout the procedure. They have a wonderful, respectful relationship with each other, and the procedure when very smooth. I also was amused by Alexa telling Dr. Wang all the pop culture updates. I believe having a great rapport with the staff is the sign of an excellent physician. This year, leading up to my annual cleaning, the office called me multiple times throughout the week asking me to move my scheduled Saturday 12:30 PM appointment to an earlier time (around 10 AM). I clearly explained each time that I work long hours and that 12:30 PM was the earliest I could come. Despite this, they continued to pressure me to change my appointment. On the morning of my appointment, they called again and told me they needed me to come earlier because "the doctor did not want to wait two hours for my appointment." I was also told they "usually close early," which makes me question why they even offer later appointment times if they are unwilling to honor them. I was then told that I would need to reschedule, even though I was fully willing and able to attend my original appointment. I had already rearranged my schedule and stacked multiple medical appointments on my only day off that week specifically to accommodate this visit. Like many working adults, I have very limited flexibility during business hours, and I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a healthcare office to respect a time slot that they themselves scheduled. As someone who works in healthcare, I found this extremely unprofessional and not patient-centered at all. When I later decided to cancel because I no longer felt comfortable with the level of professionalism, the receptionist simply said, "Okay, I will cancel your appointment and inactivate your account. Goodbye." No apology, no attempt to address the issue, no basic courtesy. Patients should not be made to feel like their time is less valuable than a provider's convenience. I asked her to get a quote to just have 2 removed that were bothering her and we would get the other 2 removed later. She was quoted $1200 and told the Dr that comes in to do extractions went up on his rates. In 2 weeks his rates changed. I ended up having her come to Richardson to get her wisdom removed and it was $267 TOTAL! She was told she also had a cavity, decided to have her get a 2nd opinion on that as well. Come to find out she has no cavity! I would avoid this office!
