My husband and I have been going to Roanoke Dental for a couple of years, but after my most recent experience, I feel I need to share this. This office is part of the Smile Generation network, which is a corporate dental group. After what I experienced, it felt very clear that the focus is on revenue, not patient care. To be blunt, I feel like this dental office straight up scammed me. I've never felt that way about a medical provider before, but they told me I needed procedures I didn't actually need and charged me for services I don't believe I truly received. At one of my first visits, they said I needed a "deep cleaning" that cost over $1,000. But a true deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) goes under the gums to remove buildup and bacteria, is usually done in sections, takes longer than a regular cleaning, and requires numbing because it's not comfortable. None of that happened in my case. The appointment was the same length as a regular cleaning, nothing was numbed, and it didn't feel any different. My cousin is a dentist and said that's highly unusual. Looking back, it feels like I was billed for a deep cleaning but only given a standard cleaning. After that, every visit turned into the same conversation about "bone loss," which they used to push a laser treatment almost every time. Based on their explanation, I trusted them and agreed to it repeatedly. The final straw was my most recent appointment. Just three months prior, I had been there for a cleaning and a filling, and at that time they told me everything looked fine and never mentioned needing a deep cleaning. Then suddenly, after they canceled my original appointment without notice and moved it, I rearranged my entire day to come in, only to be told I now needed a $1,200 deep cleaning instead of the regular cleaning I had scheduled. This is now the second time they've tried to charge me for a deep cleaning. When I declined due to time, they canceled my appointment entirely and pushed me out another month. At that point, something felt off, so I got a second opinion from a dentist outside of this network. He showed me everything on camera and told me I have no bone loss and do not need a deep cleaning. He also showed me that a filling Roanoke Dental recently did was done incorrectly and now requires a crown. I emailed Roanoke Dental to cancel and explain my concerns. They never responded. Between being pushed into expensive treatments, being told I had conditions I don't have, inconsistent diagnoses within just three months, and receiving questionable dental work, I have completely lost trust. If you're looking for a dentist, I strongly recommend going somewhere independent. Based on my experience, this felt far more like a sales operation than a healthcare provider. read more

they over charged me $2,256.25 after my insurance sent them payment after a service. I called and emailed requesting a refund and sent the documents my insurance sent me and the insurance handbook explaining the cost of service and my responsibility per the insurance and what they covered. Raquel Garcia only refunded $782.50 stating she needs to see more information from my insurance. I called my insurance and they suggested the clinic calls them for assistance. I provided the phone number and suggested she calls. no update and no additional refunds have been sent out, I will have to file a grievance with my insurance towards this clinic for not following the in network insurance contracted rate. hopefully they can investigate this issue and provide more clarification. This has been such a headache and a very long process. dr Boelman is great and his hygienist are nice but after this, i do not plan to give them anymore of my money. read more

The dentist is nice and so are the hygienists but their billing practices are shady. Make sure to check your EOBs to see if they overcharged. If they did, good luck getting a refund. It will take you numerous call and visits up there for them to "look into it." I am still waiting... read more

I was miss diagnosed by Dr Kim who charted that I needed a deep cleaning/SRP on all 4 quadrants. She gave me a solution to gargle with that caused me to get a toothache. Interesting that they offered to take $200 off the treatment plan as I was walking out the door. A dentist that I worked for had to give me antibiotics to clear it up. I went to 2 other dental offices where they charted me with healthy gums and I did not need a deep cleaning. I had originally scheduled a dental cleaning late Oct. I came in as a new patient with PPO dental Insurance. I have previously managed a dental office for 5yrs in DFW. I have family and friends that have been in the dental industry for years. I recently moved to the area and have been looking for a honest dental office in the area. read more

Excited to find a great family dentist! Claire, Andi and Dr. Boelman were exceptional. Electronic health record was simple and great to keep all of my families records in one place with My Chart. My daughter had a small piece of tooth from a trauma years ago and Dr. Boelman was able to remove it painlessly and quickly. My son commented this is the best dental experience he's ever had. As a first time patient they got me in and out efficiently without feeling rushed using super modern equipment. They all answered any questions I had and were very friendly. Avoid this place!!! Went in for a basic cleaning and was later billed $500. My insurance pays 100% for cleaning and x-rays and we were never informed that this office was going to charge anything additional. I'm not a big fan of surprises on billing statements. Now I have to fight with the insurance company to try and figure out what to do next. read more

We are new to Trophy Club. I decided I would just pick a place and see if I liked it. Everyone there was very attentive and respectful. They made every process so easy and I am glad it was a great pick! I would recommend this place to anyone that needs a new Dental Group. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the opened concept of each work station. It is not a completely enclosed (sliding side doors), you can hear the drill going in every direction and peoples conversations so well. What can you do! read more

PATIENTS BEWARE! Only went for two cleanings and they overcharged my insurance both times. Check your EOB statements carefully. Billed for procedure 'hygiene instruction' - I never had any such instruction, as I am old enough to know how to brush and floss my teeth - no cavities ever. Also charged insurance for a flouride rinse - which I had specifically declined both visits. When I called office to ask, they said it was as 'human error' on billing...BOTH TIMES?! I am appealing both claims through insurance. As for dentists, not much to say since very limited interaction with routine cleanings...other than I was not told my 2nd visit would be a different dentist. Hygienist, Emily - was only asset to this practice. Office staff was not friendly and are good at avoiding having to clarify billing errors. They overcharged my copay as well...statement from insurance showed lower copay...when I asked why I was charged $30 more than what insurance listed and told them that they owed me a credit, receptionist just kept saying that she 'didn't see any credit due'...seriously playing dumb like she didn't understand. They have very crooked, fraudulent billing practices here...find another dentist...hopefully there are still honest ones out there. read more

My experience was not pleasant. My insurance assigned me to this practice so I went for cleaning. The people working there are certainly nice enough but.......after x-ray and general checkup I was pushed to commit to a procedure on one tooth that was several hundred dollars, along with quarterly commitments at additional expense. It came down to me accepting this expensive procedure or they were not going to clean my teeth because it was the Doctor recommendation. "All or Nothing!" I felt bullied and walked out. I've called my insurance to make sure they aren't charged for a cleaning that DID NOT happen. So, be prepared to be pressured. They are now running an ad for $59.00 for cleaning, exam and x-ray. As a medical professional I tend to be more critical than most with the practices I visit. I was thoroughly impressed with everyone from the front desk to the Periodontist. Dr. Ortiz was beyond thorough in explaining the treatment plan and I am transferring all my families dental care to this practice. read more

Won't be using these folks. They were insistent that I give them several hundred dollars for impressions to make me a partial for missing teeth. By giving them this money I would be agreeing to accept an estimate of $36000.00 total to repair my teeth. Perhaps this is what people are used to paying for that type of work. In my case I am 68 years old. I have now started the process with another dentist and will be spending maybe $2500.00 at most. read more

Run, run, run! This place is terrible. The lady at front doesn't know how to bill insurance so you have to do all footwork for her. Also, for some reason the only services the offered weren't covered by insurance. I had to push to just find out what my insurance would actually cover. If I could give this place a negative star I would. They overcharge on every service every treatment . So their prices aren't right. Their increase in all costs was suspicious since the other four dentists charge half the price of a his questionable practice. In my humble opinion, no one should visit this "dentistry." The " dentist," who was working on me was named, Jacob Chandler DDS . He appeared to need more training as he was unprofessional, incompetent and negligent. He was trying to work on my tooth when he negligently hurt and damaged It. Letting him know of the unusual pain and damaged he caused fdid not yield an apology on his part. Nor did he try to rectify it. In fact, his Receiptionist a heavy set blond named Clara stated he would call me to fix the mistake he had caused me. But I never heard back from him and it's been awhile At this point. Every time I would call the office to get help someone would pick up the phone and quickly bang the phone causing the line to drop. I had no choice but to seek legal action. I plan on sharing my traumatic experience with this dentistry with the news cast that I called to share my local news. So that what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else. I can't believe someone who took an oath to help people has caused me so much agony, loss of income and mental anguish when I only wanted an apology and the revision of Jacob Chandler's negligence. read more

I finally got the nerve up to go to the dentist after a NIGHTMARE experience with my previous dentist.and I'm so glad I did!!!!! Dr. Rudy and the staff are so amazing I was in and out rather quickly. From the time I checked in up front with Claudette and Donna to the xrays to the chair, I never felt uncomfortable. I was scared of the thought of going yo the dentist, all that disappeared when I walked in the door. Now a couple of months later, we only have to work on 2 more teeth and Dr. Rudy has officially saved ALL of my teeth! His assistant Ashley literally held my hand the entire time I was being numbed up as she could see my anxiety coming and talked me through everything with Dr. Rudy. Claudette and Donna have worked so hard on their end to make sure I was only out the bare minimum required through insurance and they were actually able to do some of my work pro bono that my last dentist messed up. This in turn had Mr bring in my husband who hasn't seen a dentist in years and in one visit had his deep cleaning with laser treatment and all his fillings done. Since he's diabetic this infection has wreaked havoc on his body but his blood sugar numbers are coming down even more everyday (So far his sugars are down over 100pts). We are both able to finally eat any and everything we want without pain. No more stopping in the middle of a meal. No more aversions to food. Just enjoying meals as a family again...pain free. I would recommend any and everyone needing dental work or even just a cleaning and exam to see them. You won't be disappointed!!!! read more

Y'all. Yalllll. Just pick another place. Pros - clean, kind hygienist and 1 kind receptionist. Cons - everything else you can think of. At one appointment I went to for a deep cleaning (with insurance this was a little over $500), myself and 4 other patients waited outside the office doors for nearly 20 minutes while the office was out to lunch. When they showed up all they said was they were out to lunch for a birthday. If you have appointments (4) scheduled for 1pm you should probably make sure to be there. My husband got his mould for a mouth guard done over a month ago, and we are still trying to get it. I came to write this after having just gone up, and only the kind receptionist was left - who is not allowed to release the mouth guard to him since she is not a hygienist or doctor ..... this is AFTER calling before we came up to make sure they were open and we could pick up the mouth guard. We have tried to pick it up 3 times now. The first time it didn't fit, the second we had to go in because the mould broke in transit. I wouldn't say the staff is caring. I wouldn't recommend it. read more

I've been going to this location for the past year and they are top notch when it comes to service and hospitality. They always follow up regarding your appointments prior to your scheduled date which is always nice. In addition, before they perform any service they do give you all of the facts including the costs so there are no surprises. Received a bill due to the Dentist's mistake. FEP Blue Dental sent me a check, then wanted the money back due to the Dentist's mistake. Now FEP Blue Dental wants re-payment due to mismanagement of the account. Was put on hold for over and hour and they never answered the phone while I waited for the office manager. Ladies, don't go here if you are expecting and just want to get a regular cleaning. I called the clinic multiple times regarding a regular cleaning without X-Ray and the staffs were very rude. The operating manager, Dana (if I am not mistaken her name) was extremely arrogant, inpatient, and aggressive (simply a mean person). She was unwilling to hear me out why I can't not get X-Ray done and interrupted me multiple time while I was talking. She then said "why don't you talk to you doctor what's the best". I feel extremely violated and offended by her and the whole office. I would not recommend this place to anyone who wants to be treated fairly and with respect. read more

I was absolutely terrified of the Dentist. I actually to called to reschedule my appointment and Jen talk me through my fear. I'm so glad I met Dr. Dave and his amazing team at Roanoke Dental Group. I had a fractured tooth from an old silver filling, that needed a crown. They were able to prep and seat the crown the sameday! I promise you I never felt anything!!! The only tears I had at this dental appointment were tears of JOY! I will recommend Dr. Dave and his sweet dental assistant Brinden to everyone. It was actually a very pleasent experience.
