If you are resident of East Lake / Decatur / Kirkward and not looking for a fancy place, but rather some old skool mechanics this is your place. Based on the amount of cars and types of vehicles they work on they can solve the a wide range of mechanical issue. I don't believe they work on foreign car (I could be wrong)...but Japanese and American cars and its a good idea to call ahead as there are some limitations on space. This is a place that you can negotiate on the repairs based on my personal experience and can save $$ but at the same time get work done at a reasonable cost. I brought my old pickup truck in based on some recommendations from the guys at the auto parts store to repair electrical issue that another mechanic could not resolve. At the time there was no reviews on yelp and was flying blind since I was new to the Kirkwood..new to Atlanta. I drove by the place and it looked like they dabbled in everything, brakes, electrical, mechanical... etc. I spoke to Reginald about the issue on my starter and he agreed he would resolve the issue. The only downside to my experience was that it took longer than expected to resolve the issue (no fault of there own...it took them awile to troubleshoot issue.. which at other mechanical shop would charge you more), secondly Reginald did not call me to inform me of the estimate before starting on the repair, which was a little disappointing. Regardless, they were able to they resolve the electrical issue the following day. I will continue to update my experience the next time I have other work done there. NOTE: CASH ONLY. It is not…read morenoticeable from the street and doesn't look like much but Jay does everything front and back by himself -- a feat in itself. What a great sense of humor he has! Several weeks ago I came in for an oil change and knew their was a problem with my exhaust system. Jay showed me the exhaust problem (corrosion and rust) and told me that he didn't do that kind of work and I needed to go to a muffler/exhaust place. Jay was thorough and efficient. I actually thought that his price was rather low and told him. I asked if I could give him a tip and he refused so I gave him a hug instead. I will gladly go back if I need a car repair

They either don't know what they're doing or they knowingly overcharge anyone who "looks" naïve or vulnerable. Read - seniors or women unaccompanied by their husbands or fathers. Because this is 1950, eye roll.. Jay is the real deal. Yes, Apna Garage is a modest shop tucked away behind a gas station. But how many mechanics have a legit 5 star Yelp rating? I'll wait.. The reason is because no-one is as honest, humble or as kind as Jay is. You can drop off your car which is very convenient. Jay diagnosed mine and explained everything in plain English without being patronizing. He's very responsive to messages, gave an honest assessment and didn't try to overcharge or upsell me. I went to Pure on the recommendation of three childhood friends who still live here. They ALL said to go to Pure. I grew up in Decatur and left for grad school many years ago. I recently returned after living in four states during my career. I have always had three criteria when I make a move to a new location, and they have served me well. Find: 1. A Doctor you can relate to and trust. 2. Someone who gives a great haircut. 3. An auto mechanic you can trust and who does great work. I've found #3 in Decatur Pure Station. After my early check-in, I sat in the waiting area for about two hours, watching and listening to the manager interacting with customers. My observations? Friendly, matter-of-fact, clear. Andy explained everything going on with his client's cars. He made recommendations, and more importantly, noted what didn't need to be done. He gave accurate representations about when services would be completed. For my car, he got the part quickly and told me they had looked over the whole car and only found one repair that needed to be made (besides my originating situation). He was accurate in his honesty, because I already knew I was needing a new rear brake job in the next month. While my car was being repaired, I walked around downtown Decatur. I reacquainting myself with some old, and mostly new, businesses and restaurants. I arrived back at the repair shop in the mid-afternoon, just after they finished repairing the car. Honest mechanics! Dropped off my 2003 Honda CRV today after hearing a screeching sound whenever my…read morecar was in idle. I called right when they opened and they were able to take me in right away! I received a phone call a little over and hour later from the mechanic informing me that I had an issue with my belt. The mechanic said the belt was structurally intact and looked new but was responsible for the sound. He said he sprayed it with WD 40 which eliminated the sound but informed me it would come back eventually. He told me I could replace the belt to eliminate the sound permanently or I could pass on replacing the belt as it was still functioning properly and brand new. Definitely a mechanic I will be back to visit as I know they are not trying to stick me with random charges for parts I don't need.
