My mother's house lost partial power, including her furnace, around 9:00pm the other night. My…read morehusband and I take care of her, so we immediately starting looking on Yelp for an electrician. We have been taken advantage of many times in the past, so we were already tense about the entire thing. We found RJ Howard Electric and gave them a call. They open very early in the morning (7:30am) which is nice for stressed out folks like us! We spoke with Rick and explained the situation. He was able to schedule an appointment for 4:00pm later that day. Rick showed up right on time, 4 o'clock on the DOT, and called my hubby for more information on what what happening in mom's home. He went downstairs and checked her circuit breaker and after less than five minutes of investigating he already knew the issue. It was the line outside on the pole, which is an AEP problem. Not only did he call AEP for my mother and arrange for them to fix the outage, but he provided us with the ticket number so we could track the progress. On top of all the good news, he also only charged us a minimal fee for his services. We were so relieved and appreciative and cannot say enough good things about this company. We have some electrical issues at our house that we have been putting off over fear of getting taken advantage of, but it's comforting to know we have a reliable, honest electrician to call now! Thank you, Rick!!

Excellent service at an excellent price, and completed the estimate and work in the same day.read more

Update 6-3-2025. Just hired these folks again to take care…read moreof an urgent and difficult issue. They sent out Kyle and Tyler. These guys are true professionals. Diligent, thoughtful, good communicators (they listen), polite, and very "likeable." Kyle and Tyler worked like surgeons: precise and clean. They also gave good advice. These are the guys you want working in your home! From 2024: Safe Electric & Plumbing is the only firm you should hire. These people are not only diligent experts who are highly responsive, they are also decent and kind people. We had them work in our home several times - and its always the same: Wonderful. They diagnose the problems with the disciplined approach of scientists. They communicate clearly, are polite and extremely pleasant - but most of all, they are the absolute best. If you hire any other company besides Safe Electric & Plumbing, you have made a mistake.

We had one of those "we can deal with this" small home update projects that turned into "ohhhh we…read moreneed help" - replacing a vent fan/light in a bathroom. I have Contamination OCD and any kind of project that could create dust is really triggering for me. When I let Bryce know this in hopes he would understand I need it to be a really tidy and precise job, he took the time to describe to me how they would switch shoe covers out from inside the room where they would also tarp it off, and wear different shoe covers to go through the house. I honestly felt really seen and our little house project got done in an afternoon easy. Hope and Bryce were great. I would recommend.

When their equipment failed, it was under warranty. They would only replace it for ridiculous price…read morefor labor. I bought a new water heater and had it installed for less than their labor cost. What a rip off I would not recommend them to anybody. I called the office. The receptionist was not nice. I asked to speak to the owner left a message. He would not return my phone calls all around horrible service and very rude.

We called American Air to get an estimate for a Rheem furnace, a/c and heat pump, system. They…read moresent us a quote for this system and we accepted the quote. We did not finance through their preferred lender, I was required to take them a check to their office in Grove City. The in person sales estimate guy was attentive to get the sale. He sent an estimate via email which I had to sign and agree to terms and conditions. When I tapped the terms and conditions it did not show any terms and conditions, it just allowed me to sign the acceptance box and submit the agreement to buy the Rheem system. I also chose an optional whole house surge protector which is apparently not compatible with my now discontinued breaker panel boxes. I was not offered a refund, I was offered an in line surge protector just for the outside ac/heat pump unit or extended cleaning service and 4 years of air filters. I drove an hour to their office, Debbie leaves at 4pm, apparently she is the sales/installation guru. She did not leave anything for Savannah the service staff guru for me, just indicated I was dropping off a payment. I was there for 45 minutes, I left with a three sentence term and conditions sheet, another copy of my "contract" which is just a copy of my estimate and a receipt which is written on a screen shot of the note in the office computer that indicates the price is reduced because I paid in full up front. This morning I received a new acceptance estimate to sign, that was followed up by a phone call from Dusting the sales guy. While I was in the office, Dustin was expecting me to walk out the door after paying them $14,287, with a verbal agreement of our contract nd not a printed contract, no terms and conditions, and no receipt of payment. While waiting for the documents I expected to have in their office, Dustin was called to get documents. He could not produce a contract, terms and conditions, or a receipt and he was also suddenly deaf. He sent a list of components I was buying and a copy of the estimate a second time. He was able to hear and comprehend Savannah, but unable to hear or understand me. This morning he sent a new estimate indicating the reduced price of the purchase and installation, and called a few moments after I opened it. This morning he was also deaf and unable to understand me, he informed me of the optional purchase issue and the options which are worth half of the price of the whole house surge protector that is incompatible with our electrical panels. He did not answer my questions and just talked over me. I called Debbie to clarify, she reiterated what Dustin said and told me we were still on for Tuesday for the installation, then in mid sentence started talking to another person. I silently waited for her to return to me but she kept talking to the other person and just left me hanging. Yesterday, I was promised verbally a one day installation, but was told it was a two man job and they didn't have a second man yet. So she foreshadowed having only one person for my installation which means to me there will either be a delay in someone coming out to do the installation or one guy is going to come out alone and he will need two or more days to do the installation. Sales pitch was great, but once I accepted and paid for their products and services everyone's demeanor changed from being helpful and service friendly to rude and inattentive. My service date is six days away, I am sitting here highly concerned that I am not going to get the service or products I was verbally promised. Since speaking to Debbie about accepting their service, my experience in their office, and my interactions with Dustin and Debbie this morning I am extremely concerned this purchase and installation, and possibly future services are not going to be what is advertised by American Air. Did I mention my "Contract" does not indicate an installation date? I just have the verbal appointment date and nothing in writing. I also called to just have the whole house optional surge protector cost refunded instead of getting the inline surge protector the extended service plan or life time/4 years worth of filters and Dustin tried to refuse and then deferred to doing me a favor by taking 8% off by paying upfront (an offer every A/C company we received an estimate 5 different companies gave us estimates.). I did mention he was doing a car salesman tactic by making verbal promises or pretending to be doing me a favor by giving me a discount that he does for no one else. They did not give me a contract, I accepted an estimate, they voided the first and the second. I am awaiting a third that should reflect an over payment of $345-395. I will update once the installation is completed and we have had some time using the new equipment.
