I really wanted to like the 2 AM Club. It should be a great spot to catch a game and grab a drink. I showed up during the NFC Championship game, so the place was packed. I sat right at the bar, and it took 30 minutes for one of the bartenders to even acknowledge I existed. When she finally took my order, she forgot about it and came back later to ask if I had ordered. Eventually I got my drink, paid her in cash, and left a tip. She came back again asking me to pay. I reminded her that I had already paid cash (and hadn't received my change). This was the most attention I got over the 4 hour game. That said, the bartender wasn't too busy to serve the locals at the counter multiple times, chatting and laughing extensively with the regulars who were passing around homemade cupcakes or sharing plates of food they'd ordered from the Mexican restaurant next door. If you're not already part of the in-crowd here, you might find yourself waiting a while. read more

We're not regular customers, but I wrote a review of historical dive bars in Marin and this place was the one that spent the most time with me talking about how prohibition shaped some businesses in Marin and how some bars survived. The bar keepers were very knowledgeable and kind. I too our friends here for a drink and food in bags. We had great service and my friend recommends the martini! Everyone at the bar was super friendly, even though we were not regulars. It's a great place to pop in and chat. The smell when you first walk in confirms that it's been there for many decades! 1970s and 1980s was there 4 times a month 1990s was there 2 times a month 2000s aging out and wife will not let me go as much. 3 times per year. Loved this place was always fun, friendly, easy going. The 2am club or the "Deuce" as locals know it by, is always a pit stop whenever I'm in Mill Valley (which is not often). The owner of this lovely establishment, Amanda, has always greeted us with great energy. She's owned the 2 am club for 14 years and there's a reason patrons frequent this local bar. 2 pool tables and darts available to play. Good music always playing and sports playing on the multiple TVs they have. Overall cool vibes and strong pours. read more

If you're looking for a bar to enjoy a football game at, you are looking at it. 2am Club is exactly what it is - your typical bar...but with a really great taco joint next door for you to bring food in. The bartenders are engaging and polite. I will admit something, from the outside you wouldn't not even think of this as a bar. Walk in and it is like you are in a different world. I'm a huge fan of dive bars and loved spending my time briefly here while waiting for my reservation at another restaurant closeby. The bartender was friendly, knew what to recommend, and was quick on it. I appreciated the high ceilings and spaced out seats so everyone could be comofrtable. They have pool tables as well for a casual hangout, and are located to a lot of great spots closeby. read more

He's looking 60, but acts like a privileged teenager, socializing with his regular patrons at the end of the bar - can't be bothered to lump his dim broad frame down the counter to serve. This is only place that I've ever seen advertised "roofie strips for sale" while the bouncer offers my friend a left over beer that has "barely been touched". This is the third time we've visited this bar and the "bouncer" always appears to be intoxicated. read more

Didn't have a good experience here at all. We love a dive bar and were excited for this one until it ended up being a nasty experience. Upon arrival there was a small unleashed dog that came at my dog unprovoked. Given our dog shouldn't have been with us, but we were from out of town and didn't want to leave her alone plus she's great in dive bars or any public place for that matter. Nonetheless no apology, nothing, just a dirty look from the bar tender and then her proceeding to talk about us with I'm guessing the owner of the dog. This wasn't even the worst of it, for a few rounds of shots a rum n coke and a beer this old lady charged us 140 !! Unless they're charging over 10 dollars a drink here the math wasn't adding up. My boyfriend and I discovered this bar a few weeks back after I finished working nearby. We weren't quite ready to make the hour drive back home, so we found ourselves exploring the area and this is one of the places we decided to stop by. Glad we did! Steve was bartending and he was friendly, attentive, and fun to socialize with. We enjoyed the atmosphere and good pours (and prices) and noticed that they have outdoor seating in addition to all of the space inside. We aren't in this area much, but it would def be a spot we'd stop back in next time we are around - it was a great experience and a fun way to end our terrific afternoon. read more

I can't believe I've lived in Marin on and off for almost 20 years and had never been to the 2am club despite driving by the place thousands of times. I stopped in on a rainy weekend afternoon for a few beers and to play pool with a friend and was pleasantly surprised by the place. They have an amazing selection of beer on tap and THE BEST prices in Marin!! They have two pool tables that are popular, so go early to reserve one if you want to play. The only downside to this place is that they don't serve food, but Taco Jane's is next door and they sell snacks. This may be my favorite new place to grab a beer. read more

Seemingly out of nowhere and unbeknownst to me...a few hours later, the place was busy, people playing pool, several dogs and the music was much louder. Likely being the only dive bar in Mill Valley, 2am club was high up on my list of things I wanted to do when visiting after seeing Scott Capurro at the Throckmorton Theater. I usually work Saturday nights so was very excited to have a night off and be able to go out and enjoy some drinks with some friends. We got to the bar probably close to around 10:15-10:30 at night on a Saturday. It was pretty busy, but not so busy that we were still able to get drinks quickly and find somewhere to sit without any issues. We ordered our drinks, found a table, and immediately started doing one of the most entertaining things you do at a bar you've never been to -- people watch! It seemed like there were all kinds of people ranging from newly legal drinkers all the way to middle aged and older people. It was awesome to see such diversity and everyone having a good time. The atmosphere was very divey and welcoming which was definitely comforting and appreciated. They did have some pretty good sounding drink specials depending on the day of the week, but unfortunately nothing for Saturday nights. I ordered my go-to drink, a bulleit rye with ginger ale, which ran me about $7 a drink. Not a bad price at all! The bartender definitely hooked us up with decent pours and delicious tasting drinks. We did have a tiny issue after ordering a glass of Stella since they must have accidently had their tap hooked up to bud light or something like it. After tasting it and agreeing it wasn't Stella, we told the bartender what had happened. He took a sip of the beer, and immediately agreed that it was definitely not Stella. He offered another beer similar to stella and replaced our drink with no issues at all. If i'm ever back in Mill Valley and looking to go out for a drink, you'll definitely find me at 2am Club! read more

A local favorite! The Duece is Mill Valley's version of a dive bar - it's really hard to leave here sober - the Blow Jobs are good. During the holidays, this becomes somewhat of a high school reunion - it can get pretty hilarious. Tip: if you park your car over night, get it early the next morning, before you're ticketed or towed! read more

The worst service I've ever received came from the female bartender at 2am club. Simply the most unpleasant experience.

I'm guessing this is the only dive bar in town since we always go here when I come to visit. But my friend hasn't suggested anywhere else in MV to go to for drinks. But anyways it's an okay dive bar with pool tables and video games. Wish they had a dart board then I'd give them the 4 stars. Each time I come there is one really cute brunette bartender and then another older cute brunette bartender. Both are really nice and are attentive even if there is a big crowd there. Watch out though seems like the Mill Valley police just sit out in front of this bar waiting to get the locals. There were like 4 parked near the place this past friday night. read more

2:00 a.m. club is an institution in Marin and it is the quintessential dive bar.. Huey Lewis and the News didn't album cover their many years ago and if you look at the album cover and look at the stuff hanging on the wall above the bar you'll recognize the electric guitar made out of a toilet seat from the album cover. The somewhat mediocre star rating is just because when I went in there the other week nobody was wearing masks at all, staff or customers. When I go to the 2am, I go to have fun. The first staff I run into is Mike, who is always professional and has security on lock. The bartenders are friendly and ID everyone in the younger looking crowds. The pool tables are in good condition and there are always full chalk cones and plenty of chalk lying around. I had just finished a bike ride to the top of Mount Tam, and I was thirsty and hungry! I had heard good things about this bar from a colleague, so I decided to give it a try. It is obviously very popular with the locals. There are a few pool tables, and also a few small tables. They have a very good selection of both draft and bottled beer. I had a racer 5 which was reasonably priced at just $5. They don't serve any food here, but the bartender recommended I go to the Mexican restaurant a few doors down. They allow you to bring the Mexican food into the bar to eat. It was a great idea and that's exactly what I did. The people here seem to be pretty friendly. So if you're looking for a dive bar this looks like a great place. As you might expect, it's pretty dimly lighted it here. read more

I showed up to play pool with 3 other friends and the people across of us started stereotyping but we kept ignoring them until the end we gave a response mind you the people I was with we only showed up to play pool and what was purchased was 2 bags of chips Doritos blue & red bag and a sprite. NO ALCOHOL! The other people were already drinks in. It was 2 teams playing pool. And As soon as my end starts sticking up for ourselves for letting them keep saying stuff when we were able to hear what was being said. The one sided bartender wearing the red top yesterday automatically came at us sideways blaming us right off top when she was well aware of what was going on and she kept letting them say racial slurs to us and kicked us out. I came back for my debt card 5 min after and she basically mushed it to me and saying never come back. And FYI. The red top bartender from last night 12/25/2023. is ALWAYS high. EVERY TIME I've gone SHE HAS ALWAYS been HIGH. It's NOT the first time I've noticed it. It is very NOTICEABLE in her face and especially in her eyes while she is working Assisting customers. I hope the owner knows what is going to happen next with this because I am going to end up taking legal action if I do not hear anything from the owner. read more

I haven't been to the 2 am Club since before COVID. My husband and I live in Mill Valley and decided to pop in and check it out. The 49'ers were playing and we thought we could stop watch the game and have a drink. I had to use the restroom and someone was in the Women's restroom for a long long time. So, my husband said to use the men's room with him. I had just gotten in there and there was screaming, shouting & pounding outside of the bathroom door. The "owner" screamed that no women in the men's bathroom. I had to use the restroom and was finished very quickly. I couldn't believe after waiting 15-20 minutes just to use the women's bathroom on a quiet Sunday we were treated so rudely. Now, I know why we never go to such a dive bar. Rude behavior from the Proprietor breeds rude behavior from their Patrons. I will never step foot in a disgusting, rude place as this. I wasn't missing anything in three years.
