I reserved a table for us being that it was a friday and on a holiday weekend. We arrived early so that we could hopefully sit down earlier but they didn't have my reservation. The hostess was really nice and she said no worries we can get you a table. There was only two of us so that's probably why it wasn't a problem. We sat down and right away they brought us water to the table. Our waiter came over shortly afterwards to see if we wanted drinks. We ordered a couple glasses of wine and the smoked wings and wedge salad to start. Our wines came out right away and then our wings and salad. It was pretty quick considering they looked pretty busy. Of course the wines were delicious (Zin, Pinot Noir). The salad was pretty basic wedge but good and they made it for two which was good. The wings were cooked perfect, just enough smoke on them, and a little crispy. For our entree we ordered the Ribeye to split between us. The ribeye came out not to much later, it looked good. They also split that for us so that was really nice. The Ribeye was cooked perfect (med rare), a good grill marks on it, great seasoning on it. It came with a herb butter and some kind if dipping sauce as well. Both were really flavorful but the herb butter was the best. Also, the mini baked potato was delicious as well. The steak didn't even need any sauces because the seasoning flavor was already there. For dessert we ordered sticky toffee pudding. It was the best Sticky Toffee pudding I've ever had. I wanted to lick the plate dry. Kiudos. The service was pretty good throughtout the dinner which was nice. I thought they wouldve comped the dessert since it was my girlfriends birthday but they didn't but that's ok. read more

I remembered going to the Buckeye years ago, so when we needed a spot between SF and Sonoma County to meet up with friends the Buckeye fit the bill perfectly! I had the Paper Plane, split the roasted artichoke (asked for garlic aioli with our tarragon sauce and the aioli hit the spot, and the artichoke was perfectly prepared), and ordered The Cobb Salad as my main! It was delicious -- phenomenal shrimp, lots of bacon. The Buckeye is a gorgeous restaurant and our server Enrico deserves an A+ for service, recommendations and friendly banter! A deeply disappointing meal. The wine (Far Niente Chardonnay @25) was served at room temperature, not once, but twice. The food was flat, bland, uninspired, and frankly embarrassingly bad. The cod with tomato risotto was especially poor--it looked sloppy and tasted as though very little care or skill had gone into it. For a restaurant at this level, the entire experience was unacceptable. It makes me sad that they are seving food like this from a restaurant that used to be an institution in Marin. Here to celebrate hubby's birthday with dinner at the Buckeye. We were seated on the top floor. Everything we ordered was tasty. The smoked bbq pork ribs could have been more tender, but it had good smoky flavor. Fresh & warm Parkerhouse rolls were good too. We definitely enjoyed the Oysters Bingo the most and ended our meal with their S'mores pie. First time at Buckeye Roadhouse and I honestly can't believe I hadn't been sooner. The service was excellent from start to finish ~ attentive without hovering, genuinely welcoming, and on top of everything. Funny fact ~ we arrived without reservation and were asked if we would mind if we could please finish our dinner within 2 hours as our table had a booked reservation...we of course agreed and thought it was very professional to let us know instead of turning us away. The food came out hot, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every dish felt thoughtful and well executed. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance: classy and cozy, but still lively and fun. Absolutely love this place! The food, drinks, customer service, and ambiance are all amazing. Every plate is incredible, and the desserts are just as delicious. It's especially nice coming here with family during the holidays, it always feels so special. The only things they could improve are the parking situation and, at times, the wait. Even with a reservation, you may have to wait longer than expected. Other than that, I really have no complaints. It's always a wonderful experience, and I look forward to coming back! read more

Buckeye Roadhouse was opened back in 1937, offering contemporary American cuisine at the rustic dining room with warm ambiance. We didn't make a reservation beforehand and waited for about 20 minutes. We ordered two cocktails at the bar and waited at the seating area in front of the register. Aperol Fizz $16 Husband ordered the Aperol Fizz with Hendricks gin, aperol, lemon, and aquafaba. Pearfection 16 I got the Pearfection with Pear Vodka, Elderflower liquor, fresh lemon juice, and rosemary. Sweet with the smell of pear and rosemary. Barbecued Baby Back Ribs $31.5 For the main course, I ordered the smoking barbecued baby back ribs, and on the side with grilled corn on the cobb, and cole slaw. 12oz Brandt Ribeye Steak $49 Husband got the medium rare ribeye steak with blue cheese and bacon stuffed mini baked potatoes. There were green basil sauce on top and red chili sauce in a separate bowl. 2022 Robert Craig Cabernet Sauvignon $19 Husband got another glass of red wine. Had to orders of the rib eye and those were ok but not nearly worth the $51.00 with 2 little baby potatoes that was overpowered with the dry blue cheese. After a long day of bump'n around Marin, going on hikes, we came to the ever so popular Buckeye Roadhouse for some delicious food. Thankfully, I had made a reservation weeks in advance, but parking was kind of stressful as we had to park across the road. Like the rest of the bay, while it looked fancy, Buckeye Roadhouse had very casual vibes, so there wasn't that much of a dress code. Food was very delicious and they were super accommodating to splitting up the entree by doing it themselves! I came here for dinner with a friend while staying in Larkspur. Parking is a bit odd/tricky. There's a lot across the street but it's not the easiest to access and there are no lights so it can be a little odd to cross. We were only able to get a pretty late reservation time so we were excited and hungry when we sat down. Our server was not the best, for example, the table next to us got told the specials...we did not and I absolutely would have ordered one! We ordered the crispy onion rings to share which were good but super unusual. I got the salmon while my friend got the bacon wrapped petit filet. My only complaint is that it is extremely loud, but if you can get past it, you're in for a great dinner. There were 4 of us dining. We split a Caesar salad and a little gem. Perfect size to split. It's good, not excellent. 2 of our diners ordered the rib eye served with blue cheeses and bacon mini stuffed potatoes $54, 1 ordered the marinated skirt steak served with a pile of truffle French fries $35 and the 4th diner ordered the smoked beef brisket $29.50, served with horseradish mashed potatoes. We went to Buckeye Roadhouse on a Friday night around 630pm without a reservation. The place was already very busy but we got a table in the bar area after 30-40 minutes. We ordered the oysters bingo and the Buckeye smoked chicken wings as appetizers, we then shared the skirt steak and the butter lettuce salad. For dessert we tried the S'more pie (very light and fluffy). Despite the restaurant being very busy our waitress Christy was very attentive and the food came relatively fast. The restaurant is tucked away at the exit of the highway. There's a small parking lot in front of the restaurant and more parking space across the street near the underpass. My wife and I came here due to it being under Resy reservations and the Amex Gold Card perk. It helps us find new and fun places we wouldn't normally go to! We ended up going here on our way up to Dillon Beach and we both really enjoyed it. They take their NA drinks seriously and had great options which included zero-proof liquor. My wife had an NA whiskey sour and I had a regular, great to see more and more places give some love to their mocktails. Food was good but not incredible, the ribs had good flavor but not enough flavor in my opinion. They were a bit dry too unfortunately and didn't fall off the bone as much as you'd like. Having dined there for at least one family members birthday celebration over the last 10 years, I apologize for not reviewing until now. Positives - the strong bar program, classic and creative cocktails well poured and a well curated offering of wines by the glass. Oysters Bingo (didn't have last night but reliably delicious), butter lettuce gem salad with blue cheese and the salmon and the ribs and the burger all are satisfying. That said - the special last night was the filet mignon beef stew ladled over Parmesan risotto and it was sublime, well suited to another cold and dreary evening. Our wait staff was professional and efficient and we enjoyed watching the bartenders in their element managing the long bar so efficiently, it's fun to watch when it's done well. Negatives - when I made the reservation on Open table, I put in comments that it was my partner's birthday and we'd never eaten at a table in the bar/lounge all these years, and could I please make a reservation there. I guess I should have called instead to confirm and secure, when we arrived, we were told those tables were all full (they were not, we could see that, no reserved signs either) and we were instead seated at a two top in the main dining room which would have been fine for any regular weekday dinner but for my partner's birthday request. We waited a few minutes and they were able to honor our request, but only after my partner intervened. Rare that we do that. We will return, but I guess we will need to call next time to make sure we can get a table in the bar instead of using an online service. read more

Well, I returned with my brother to celebrate my 66th birthday here in April and I've decided to update my review. Since it was a weekday, we hadn't thought to make a reservation and went soon after the restaurant opened. We were asked if we had a reservation and we said we did not. Only one or 2 tables were occupied at the time and no one else at the entrance. The host told us they would seat us, but we would have to make it a quick meal as they had a lot of reservations to seat coming up. We said OK. The waiter was dismissive and unfriendly. The special of the day was prime rib, which I was pleased about, being my favorite and not on the daily menu. My brother mentioned it was my birthday to the host as we were seated. We ordered, the food was served, we ate, paid the check and left. A complete opposite experience from last year. Our presence apparently an inconvenience. As we left, more diners had arrived, but it wasn't crazy busy. All I can say is that you better make a reservation if you plan to go. Then, maybe, the experience will be better. PS, my prime rib was OK, but not particularly tender. I can say I've had better. read more

Nice spot we keep driving by but never stop. Inside feels like an old school tavern with a nice warm feel, even though the fans blowing on the tables in the bar were a bit too high (and cold). Tried the calamari, pork chop, special cod (from Monterey bay). The overcooked, and somewhat chewy calamari had a nice crispy coating and that green chimichurri was excellent. The pork chop was spectacular as was the super tender and well executed cod. Almost like Chilean seabass! The sticky toffee pudding was also excellent. As soon as you walk in you're hit with that old time, log cabin feel. The room we were seated, had a huge river rock hearth. It was gorgeous, yet rustic and homey. We had three different servers waiting on us, plus the server assistants. That was confusing, but it didn't matter because all were attentive! We started with the hamachi crudo and oysters bingo (basically oysters Rockefeller, nothing special). Both were very tasty, but far too little portions to be considered "shareable" plates. The crudo was only three very thinly sliced pieces, for over $20, and it was a little bit fishy :/ The little gems salad with apple and spiced walnuts was also delicious, again, nothing special, but it was fresh, crisp, and executed perfectly. For the mains, my husband got the brisket - it came in a red wine bbq sort of sauce and that was sumptuous! Perfect with the meat. I got the liver and onions (yes - people actually order that! Lol), and it was grilled perfectly and had just the right amount of onion, bacon, and red wine sauce. The mashed potatoes with this were so creamy! Yum!! We also shared the Mac n Cheese - the cheese was very creamy, almost soupy, but the flavors made up for it! We were too full to eat dessert there, but made sure to bring home the s'mores pie and toffee cake - s'mores pie is literally only marshmallow and chocolate chips in a graham cracker crust lol, tasty, but thought we'd get a bit more substance for the price. Came here on a Sunday night with no reservation and we were able to have drinks at the bar while we waited. The space is very classic and upscale but unpretentious - you could dress up or down and not feel out of place. My partner got an Old Fashioned and I got a Pearfection, which was very well balanced. We were taken to our table after only about 10 minutes. For appetizers, we tried the polenta which was fantastic and had a great sauce. We ordered the mac and cheese, skirt steak, and ribs - all were great choices. The toffee pudding dessert was the perfect end to our meal. I would definitely be back! read more

All the hallmarks of excellence, but as time passes the classic roadhouse has faded. The idea of higher level service has all but fallen apart at this establishment. Severs interrupt, reach over the table with no regard. No finesse and no class. It's unfortunate. It's a rush to get you seated. It's a rush to get your order. It's a rush to get you out the door. Maybe it was just the night I was there, I'm certainly not taking family back here for a relaxing meal. The food is as it should be, the kitchen hasn't changed. We always get an Artichoke and Oysters. The Brisket is huge, we split it. Past visits have always been enjoyable, the service has always been amazing in the past. Gone are the old days. Bloody Marys are basic at best, they are strong. The Beer menu is sad, however, The wine list is tip top. read more

Go here for the dessert- delicious amazing options that are different than the usual place. The brisket meat was half cooked nicely (the one on top was nice ) but the underside piece was hard and not edible- gross. So blah unsatisfying and appears to be sneaky bc it was hiding underneath the good slice. I felt bad to send it back because I already consumed half of it. Ambiance, looks like it used to be one of the popular places. For some reason I thought it was in a lush forest setting but nah, it's basically on the side of the highway not at all picturesque. Revisiting another classic steakhouse our family would frequent for special occasions. An early dinner (5P) on a recent Saturday as a party of 4 and everything was just as we remembered, a lively bar area and the elegant, lodge-y dining room. Friendly and attentive service, tasty cocktails, and delicious food. Special shoutout to the perfectly fried calamari; my entree, the juicy and tasty ribeye; and my HUGE and totally appropriate for sharing, key lime pie. We were there for a birthday and the comp dessert for the birthday gal was the smore pie; birthday gal enjoyed it! We had also put our orders in for dessert cakes and pies with our server and unfortunately, a power outage killed the ordering system before she could add in our after dinner drinks. Next time, we'll get 'em! Service really ramped up after that, especially since the dining room was filling up with the next wave of diners. Staff handled the snafu well and gave us contact information for when they would be able to run our bill, which would be the next day.
