They have a private parking lot as well. I was greeted with a friendly smile. Their menu is fairly simple, and they have a number of items to choose from, or you can create your own sandwich as I did. I chose a roast beef sandwich on a French roll with light mayo, sprouts, onion, cream cheese, and cheddar cheese. You pay at the counter of the liquor store and mini mart they're located in. They have a number of beverages and snacks you can pair with your salad or sandwich if you'd like. The sandwich was made in a timely manner with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Usually, it looks like they have a few tables for guests to eat their sandwiches there; however, with the current social distancing situation, they are encouraging guests to take their sandwiches to-go. You can phone in your order ahead of time and pick it up when it's ready. They have a nice selection of sandwiches, both hot and cold, as well as paninis and melts. I take issue with the cashier as I believe he blatantly ripped me off . Despite going over the amounts claiming that the sign on the wall regarding the $2.50 price for a bag of chips and a canned soda pop was incorrect and that he is working on taking it down. I don't like his business practice and I don't like the fact that he gave me a receipt with Yesterdays date he said that's " what his system generated". I just ordered the best veggie sandwich in town. I originally ordered a half but the guys convinced me in the Deli to order a full. I took it home and ate half and ended up eating the other half because it was bursting with flavor. They made a fresh batch of bell pepper roasted with cream cheese mix and it was so tasty. I will be coming here again for my sandwich fix. I didn't catch the mens names in the Deli but everything looked so yummy. Thank you 2nd street Deli, you made my day. Just tried this deli since it's close to my office. Ordered the left coast blonde, and swapped out the sliced sourdough for a ciabatta roll, everything else as is. The sandwich was missing the cucumber and avocado as listed on the menu. Pretty disappointed since it was on their list of sandwiches, it's not like I did a build your own. Aside from that the sandwich was very delicious (of course would've been better with avocado). I will go back though since it was yummy! read more

This is a cute little sandwhich spot, bonus, in a liquor store! I've read the reviews and I have never had a problem with ANY of the staff here and I've been going to this liquor store for years. You will not be disappointed with your experience at the 2nd Ave Deli with the Deli Lama. His sandwiches are excellent and his soups phenomenal. I recommend the Root Beer Pulled Pork and Broccoli Potato. Call ahead to see what soup he has made for the day and ask for a sample if you are stopping in for a sandwich. I eat here twice a week and am always glad I chose his deli instead of any number of fast food joints nearby. Deli Lama is extremely friendly and passionate about his establishment and with treat you with 1st class service. Stop in, you'll be glad you did. Consider asking him about his brand of Lama IPA. This store is in the back of the Curtis Park Market. First visit/friend from the DMV had a buy 1, get the second 1/2 off and invited me to go with him since he'd never been there either. Cute setup, friendly deli staff (at first), easy menu, pay at liquor store counter (odd). Guy in 30's going on 12 training another older guy about all the complexities of the world of cashiering. The sandwiches were good. A bit small compared to Roxy's all the way on the other side of town. Unfortunately we probably won't be going back. Its' a Deli inside a liquor store with liquor store attitude aside from the guy and gal working the deli. The 2nd Avenue Deli (not affiliated with the 2nd Avenue Deli in New York) offers stamp cards (buy 1 sandwich, get 1 stamp, every 10 stamps earns a free sandwich). The entire visit was about to end well but before we left we asked the cashier who rang us up if we could get the 1 card stamped for the 1 sandwich purchased at full price. Douche: "You have to buy a sandwhich. Did you buy a sandwich?" Friend: "Yes." Douche: "Who did you buy it from?" Friend: "You. I have my receipt on my phone." Douche: "Yes, show me your receipt." Friend: "Here it is. We were just here. We used a buy one get one half off coupon" Douche: Pauses, "You don't get a stamp when you use a coupon!" Several things bothered me about this. 1. The stamp card doesn't specify any rules or stipulations or restrictions or anything. 2. That doesn't make any sense - I get that we used a coupon - but - we still paid full price for 1 of the sandwiches. So where's my friends stamp for the sandwich he paid full price for? 3. If someone goes in and buys only 1 sandwich - they get a stamp - but when you buy a second one - and spend more money (aside from the drink and chips too) you get punished and told you are assed out. 4. And by the way - the rude tonal inflections is way not necessary. Did I miss something? Is being a douche part of the bro code now? Does it make your balls feel heavier or make you feel less gay when you act like a rude butthole? Anyway - we didn't get the stamp - but I didn't appreciate the way we were spoken too - or how my friend had to prove to the Mr. Know It all that rang us up but didn't remember. So I called the number on the menu for the Deli - and guess what??? A different Douche answered. This 'bro', after screening the call - passed the phone over to the guy in the Deli. I'm not sure if it was the same 1 of 2 people making the sandwiches or not but he was relatively nice about their nonsensical - no stamp with a coupon - law. When I explained to him that my friend paid full price for one sandwich and he should therefore (coupon or not) get a stamp on the card for that purchase - he handed the phone over to another guy claiming to be the manager. His tone was worse than Cashier Douche. Me: "Hi, I was just in there" blaw, blaw, blaw, I explained the whole sandwich/card issue. Entitled Douche Manager With A Bad Attitude And Shitty Tonal Inflection: "You used a coupon. You don't get a stamp when you use a coupon because you got half off the second sandwich." Me: "Yes, we paid half price for the second sandwich so" Entitled Douche Manager cut me off and then talked over me any time I tried to speak repeating the whole coupon speech. Me eventually: "The issue isn't that I'm not listening - you've explained the same thing to me 3 different times. Repeating things over and over again doesn't make them facts. You seem to believe that I'm confused or that I'm not listening to you, but I heard you. You aren't responding to what I'm saying." Entitled Douche Manager with same condescending tonal inflection: "Just come back and I'll give you a stamp man." Me: "What?" Entitled Douche Manager: "You want a stamp? I'll give you a stamp." Me: "You know, it's not just about the stamp. You're sandwiches are goo- Entitled Douche Manager: "If you want a stamp, come and get a stamp." Me: "You know, you're sandwiches were good but we probably won't be going back because you're kind of a dick. End call. Now ... it's been a little bit since I was there earlier but I have since learned that my friend (works at the DMV) talked to another co-worker about that place and that co-worker said, "Yeah, the Owner of that place is a dick."
