I was walking my dog and stopped to watch them for a moment, since I was also in need of a full exterior paint job on my house. Unlike some paint crews, I noticed how clean and careful they were and the job looked great, and the crew was professional looking. I worry sometimes about crews with teenage looking kids with no experience, that's not the case here. That day I called them and the owner, Younis, came down to my house at the end of the day and gave me a quote. We have a stucco house, and Younis told me we would have to either prime before painting or use a higher quality paint that water proofs the stucco and seals it. I had already had 3 other notable painters in town come out and give me quotes and no one ever mentioned the challenge with stucco, sealing cracks, trenching below the dirt at the bottom, priming and painting any metal with oil based paint (we have a huge steel balcony). Younis, pointed out things that I wasn't even aware of. He looked at the job and emailed me a quote the next day after carefully evaluating the job. To my surprise, the quote was cheaper than the top dogs in town and he was using far superior paint products and doing way more than anyone else. We decided to go with AWA and told him we had to wait to get the paint approved by the HOA etc., he was extremely patient with us and once we confirmed, he started the job very quickly. I was surprised that, Younis, the owner, actually did the painting. He's not one of those spoiled contractors who leave a crew at your house who don't speak English. He was the main painter and checked with me every single day throughout the project. I am extremely picky and we made many small changes along the way. He never appeared bothered and just worked with me to make it happen the way I wanted. The price never changed. He even installed new lighting fixtures for us and really took pride in the project. We could not be happier with AWA Painting. I feel very lucky and don't think I would have had the same experience with any other painter. We plan to do more inside projects and will definitely use them.

The owner, Reed, checked on it and determined it was defective paint that he purchased from Sherwin Williams. The CAPPS painting crew repainted the entire Facia board. Looks terrific. I cut the power to the whole house in a panic, then sat there, not totally sure what to do because it was after 5 PM and rapidly getting dark, but hey. . . at least the sizzling had stopped (tiny victories). Gonzalez Electric was one of the first Yelp hits and once I saw Ed's great reviews, I gave him a call. He answered right away, was kind, listened to what happened, and said he'd be right out. Ed arrived at my place within half an hour and got to work. Ed's diagnosis of what was wrong was clear, professional, and he took the time to answer all of my questions. He even provided options for more economical vs longer term fixes. What I really appreciate though is how fair his pricing was--- the truth is that I was in a bad situation: no power, a sizzling breaker box, and a single woman alone at home in the darkness. He could have literally charged me anything and I would have probably paid it because hey, what choice did I have? But Ed didn't do that. He was VERY fair, he gave me options, he was just an all around wonderful person to work with and I am definitely saving his info for all future electrical work. He could not get the brown algae under control, I thought of getting a few estimates from Yelp. I got 4 quotes. Only Miguel made an effort to come by early friday evening (July 12) to look the pool over and see what needed to be done. His first observation was the lack of chlorine in the pool. He explained that was part of the problem and causing the algae growth. His quote was similar to the previous company. The other 3 companies did not bother to come and visit. One company requested photos while the other two just gave me quotes. 2 out of the 3 companies quoted $30 to $50 higher per month th what Miguel quoted me. And those quotes did not include chemicals while with Miguel, his quote was for everything. It will be 3 weeks this friday and I could not be happier. The pool looks clean and devoid of any algae.
