I am SO grateful I found Ed and Gonzalez Electric. The short version of why I needed help: yesterday, power went out to a section of my house and when I went to the breaker box to reset, it was audibly sizzling (!!!!!) and smelled like burning fish. I cut the power to the whole house in a panic, then sat there, not totally sure what to do because it was after 5 PM and rapidly getting dark, but hey. . . at least the sizzling had stopped (tiny victories). I was visiting my partner's family in Bakersfield (specifically Shafter) on a rainy Saturday. It's about 20 minutes to the nearest Supercharger, which is really inconvenient because you waste quite a bit of charge getting there and back. So finding an electrician to install a wall charger for my Model 3 at their house during a short visit has been on our to-do list for a year. I ordered a Tesla wall charger and had it shipped to their house a month before this weekend. We looked for several electricians before finding one through her cousin. But they were scheduled for Sunday afternoon, which wouldn't allow us to charge on this trip because we were heading back up north right around that time. I finally found an electrician who was responsive and able to come by within a couple hours. That would be Ed Gonzalez of Gonzalez Electric. He introduced himself and after we discussed the scope of the work and what was needed, he gave a reasonable quote. We needed a 50 or 60 amp breaker for the 48 amps needed for maximum charging capability available to consumers. He showed us the exact 50 amp breaker part that would be installed. I contacted Ed because my main breaker panel box at my house was failing (burnt bus plate) and I had some kitchen outlets that were not working (3 of them). He came right out the day after I contacted him, I contacted him later in the day prior (I believe it was Wednesday when he came out). He looked every thing over, informed me of what the repairs would entail, gave me a straight forward estimate and told me he could do the job on Monday. Ed and his coworker Jose showed up on Monday at about 10am, got straight to work. They replaced the entire panel box internals including all new breakers. They fixed the three of my kitchen outlets that were not functioning by installing brand new ones. I believe everything was powered up and done before 12 noon. I highly recommend Ed (and Jose) they were very friendly, professional and experienced. They did a stellar job. Ed gave me a year's warranty on all work. My circuit breaker kept flipping off and he eliminated each possibility until he discovered that a small heating pad had a frayed cord. he did a great job After my First American Home Warranty screwed me over I finally reached out and started looking. My main requirement was i needed a smaller sized person who could get under my house. He responded back and said he would like to look into my repair of my cooktop not getting power. He did double check everything the others did to make sure nothing was missed then went under. The other guys could not get in the crawl space he made it and corrected my problem. It was a full day he came at 9:30 left at about 4 but he checked double checked and made sure things were done right. I was hoping the home warranty would cover part of this however they seem to dodge the subject and avoid. One thing I've learned is these so called home warranties are made to benefit the company not the homeowner. First American by far is probably one of the worst companies. I have multiple properties and as a Real Estate Professional I have used them all. FAHW I would never recommend.
