So on our last day in New Orleans, we took the soul tour. Why didn't we do it sooner?? Our guide Jay gave us the history of the city from being a French territory, slavery, Katrina to present day. We went through the French quarter as well as the Treme community & a couple of the wards including the lower 9th which was most affected by hurricane Katrina. He showed us where the Plessey v Ferguson ruling all started, the Leona Tate story for desegregating of the New Orleans schools, beignet history as well as origins of gumbo & jambalaya. He wrapped up with some fantastic dinner recommendations for our last night. I highly recommend this tour. I see New Orleans in a new light thanks to Jay. read more

We went on this tour of The History of New Orleans. It was very interesting and informative. We actually seen the part we're the level broke, and in that area under the bridge line 1286 people we killed instantly. As you would call the poor area or hood. The tour was fantastic. We met 1 of the original McDonogh 3. Dr. LENORA TATE. Dr. Tate was 1 of the 3 black little girls that integrated an all white school in the south. They also purchased the school that they intergrated 62 years ago. She is part of Civil Rights In Black History. We did a full day with them first the Whitney Plantation and then the tour of the city covering African American history here. We will never forget what we saw and learned here! We wanted to visit The Whitney Plantation during our vacation in New Orleans but we weren't planning on renting a car. On their website they mentioned Lyft/Uber can drop you off at the Plantation, but there is no ride share pick up leaving the Plantation. They had a list of recommendations for a few companies that included The Whitney in their tours. Did a quick Google search on each one, and 2nd line tour had the best reviews, in my opinion. Booking a reservation was so easy. We did the Whitney Plantation/City Urban tour combo. It was a very informative and very emotional day for us. This tour did not disappoint us at all! We learned so much, stuff they don't teach you in classrooms. We were picked up at our hotel by Dennis. He was kind and sweet from the moment we stepped foot on the bus. The tour bus was nice and clean, and the air temperature kept us comfortable at all times. An hour later we were pulling into the Plantation parking lot. Instructions were easy to follow. We were all handed our own personal devices for our self guided tours. Dennis told us what time he'd be back to pick us up. Everything was easy peasy! Since we booked the combo tour, we were dropped off at Canal St to grab lunch while Dennis finished dropping off the rest of the group at their hotels. We met back at 414 Canal St. for the city tour. So many great things to say about the city tour. We learned about Leona Tate and even got to meet her at the TEP Center. It was such an honor and great surprise. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone I know who will be visiting New Orleans. read more

One of the best tours I've been on and I've been on a few. Did the City/Celebrity tour and Jay was so entertaining and personable. Felt like riding around with a family member learning about tier city. Would recommend this tour to anyone visiting NO. Especially if you can do a tour when a 2nd line is possible taking place. My boyfriend and I went on the urban city tour with tour guide Jay. Jay was phenomenal very knowledgeable about the city's rich culture and history and also funny which was a plus! The tour took us through so many different New Orleans actual neighborhoods where we got to learn about the city's makeup, the musical history, slavery/trades etc. it was also cool to see that the buildings are still standing after over 200 years. We also visited studio Be which was created and run by a NOLA native Mike. This studio is to die for! His artistic ability is amazing and pieces were really deep! Jay also recommended some top places to eat that locals recommend which was amazing! This tour was a 10/10. Very eye opening, fun and informational. Weeks before our trip to New Orleans I booked the NOLA Combo Culture + Celebrity Tour. At the time we were supposed to report for check-in I get a call from them stating that they should have called me the evening before, but they're canceling the tour because not enough people signed up. I understand why from a business perspective you would need to cancel, but it's unprofessional to let customers know this information at the same time they're reporting for check-in. If they had called me the night before I could have attempted to book another tour because I recognize that things happen. read more

This was a girls trip to New Orleans it was our first time we were super excited about the trip I made arrangement with this company. For two tours and airport pick and drop off for 6 people @ $200 per person. We paid a deposit of $400 to reserve that day. Once we got to the airport two people missed the flight. So we're picked up at the airport with 4 people. We went to the Whitney plantation which was not even a guided tour we were just dropped off. Then we did the city tour now here's where it goes wrong. We get drop near French quarters around 6:30pm then, I get a call from the owner (Dennis) I believe saying we made reservations for 6 people but it's only 4 of you and it's not worth doing a whole day for only $800 so he made us pay extra even though 2 people were missing. If this was an original disclaimer where it was communicated that you will still be charged for anyone who is missing I would have made an educated decision to not book with this company. But that was never told to me and we had no choice since all of our belongings were on the bus and we had to be back at the airport by 10pm. I would not recommend this company for a tour. I think the way everything was handled was bad business. And I would rather deal with a company that embodies integrity and principle. read more

Went on the spirits-n- spirits tour The bus was super clean and the driver very friendly. The tour took us to a number of grave yards and by the memorial hospital that was devastated by Katina. We ended up in City Park and crossed over to the island to look around and talked to a voodoo practitioner. We were told the correct way to exit a graveyard was to walk out backwards and then have smoking sage waved over us. After we had a talk with the voodoo doctor he offered sage sticks and special water for purchase There was not much depth to the tour and not a great deal of information provided. More history about the places visited would be great. The voodoo aspect would have been better if more information was added. read more
