He was so lovely, and even remembered my name and checked in with me prior to leaving. I can't remember his unfortunately (he was tall, dark, and handsome). I got lucky enough to purchase items that were new/clean and for an extra 50% off. A Levis sweatshirt, Aritzia tank top, Princess Polly jeans, and a Patagonia dryfit shirt, for a total of $23 with tax. Surprised they have 12 employees working that day, a lot for a thrift shop. Checking out took abnormally long due to one register, and a buyer being upset from a past purchase and not agreeing with stores policy, felt bad for the worker handling that issue/confrontation. Apologies to everyone else who had a terrible selling and shopping experience. Hopefully they improve, and I definitely will return again for the meantime. read more

As a buyer, I love this place--so I figured I'd try selling here. Almost a huge mistake. The offers were honestly shocking. An Alo hoodie? $2. A vintage 100% silk Victoria's Secret top? $0.10--yes, ten cents. A rag & bone handbag? Also $0.10. When I asked for clarification, they said maybe the buyer didn't realize the brand... but even then, how does that justify ten cents? The only offer that felt remotely fair was $50 for my Balenciaga hoodie. Everything else? Basically nothing--$1 total for four additional items. They were also "authenticating" my vintage Dior bag, and at that point I just stopped the process. I wasn't about to risk them offering me such a low price for it. It genuinely felt absurd. I understand resale businesses need margin, but this felt extreme. It honestly made me feel bad for people who sell here--like you'd have to be in a really tough spot to accept those kinds of offers. What's more frustrating is that nothing in the store is priced anywhere near that low. As a buyer, I've spent real money here--I even bought a beautiful vintage D&G belt for $250. Now I can't help but wonder what they paid for it. This experience definitely changed how I see the store. I still think they have great pieces, but the selling side feels incredibly one-sided. Offering even 20-30% of resale value would feel a lot more reasonable. Their "coding" for buying, It's a huge scam. As much as i loved shopping here.. you are better off not selling. 2nd Street is a thrift shop located in The Camp at Costa Mesa. Parking in the area is always packed and not enough for the area. The amount and variety of thrifted pieces was impressive - it's an organized place with labels indicating what each section feature. For example, they have a rack for brands like Supreme, Street Luxury, shoes, accessories, etc. One thing I noticed is that, although they are selling thrifted products, the prices aren't the cheapest. I didn't get to interact much with the staff. They were busy at the cashier or organizing the clothes. read more

This 2nd Street was clean and items were organized. It was like walking into your rich aunt's closet...you know the one who has no kids? Lol. The luxury bags were organized by color but some of the prices were a bit expensive. The red Chanel backpack was a good deal tho. Selection was good for bags, shoes and knits but I'm an outerwear person and didn't find anything. Would def return when I have more $$ to burn. read more

Only sell your clothing here if it is a very VERY last resort. This place is genuinely the worst. The prices they give you are pretty terrible in general but the best part is that they will scam you how funny is that. If you bring them items of value sometimes they do this really funny thing where they pretend not to know the value of your item and list it under "Shirt" for $5 or less. And when they give you the price breakdown sheet sometimes you just don't even notice it and they get your $100 shirt for $5 and then sell it for what it's worth because they are scammers. Sellers beware! We totally got scammed here by their team. I was honestly in shock by what they offered. They took 15 shirts, some with tags, good brands like primitive, psycho bunny, cart hart, and they gave us 10 cents per shirt because they were "only going to sell the shirts for a dollar". After we walked around the store for an hour, nothing there was under 15$. The vibes were also unwelcoming. Very disappointing and uncomfortable experience. The manager made assumptions about my cousin that felt based on stereotypes and accused him and his friend of intending to steal without any reason just for simply looking around to shop. They were asked to leave the store, and to make things worse, the manager took a photo of their license plate without a clear explanation. This felt invasive and completely unprofessional. Every time I do a purge in my closet I bring the clothes I'm cycling out here to 2nd street. They're always kind and offer reasonable prices for my pieces. The clothes they sell are also priced decently. I've found pieces NWT/NWOT at a low price and their staff is very kind. 2nd Street is a buyers' paradise! Can't say the same for selling, unfortunately. I'm no stranger to resale stores and regularly sell at Crossroads, Buffalo Exchange and Uptown Cheapskate. Today was my first time selling at 2nd Street - I had come to sell once before but was told that they were no longer taking in buys for the day. This time, I called ahead and learned that I could drop off my items ahead of time and then pick them up before closing (8 pm), so I did just that. If you're not familiar with selling in general, you provide your ID and phone number at the resale store and then your items are assessed. Based on current need, trends, and whoever is working that day, some (never all, and at times, none) of your items are purchased by the store and you are given two payment options - a store credit (which is often 30-50% of the selling price) or cash (10-30% depending on where you sell). When I asked the associate about 2nd St's payment model, I was told that "it depends". Apparently you get more for higher ticket / designer items and less for less expensive / more generic brands. Still, I wasn't sure what the range was, but boy did I find out! I came back around 7:45 to pick up my items. The store closes at 8, so there were a lot of people trying to check out and one person was finishing their buy. It was confusing to figure out where to go and the associates could have been more helpful (something you see a lot of at these places). By the time they got to me, it was nearly closing. They chose to take 8 items - 7 of them for 10 cents each and one item for $1 - for a grand total of *drumroll* $1.70! Muchhhhh lower than I expected. Since I'm used to getting more at other stores for my stuff, I politely declined to sell. They explained that their philosophy was to "try to take everything in" but then to give less per item - which would have made sense if they took the majority of my 50-item bag (but they didn't). All that to say, I would not sell here again but would happily peruse their many, many racks of clothing next time I venture into The Camp. read more

Not a true thrift store. They "buy" your clothes after never looking through them, for 2.5+hours, trapping you into staying and shopping, as they keep your ID, and never contact you. It's only a Win for them. Their clothes are not purchased from ppl consigning. My clothes were not touched in the 3 hours they had them. Good thing I didn't shop! read more

After that, they made me wait about two and a half hours, only to come back and say they actually wouldn't take them at all. If you are just casually cleaning out your closet and want to get rid of some things without resorting to lets say a Poshmark. Come here and sell it instead. I am not a seasoned re-saler nor do I resale designer big ticket items. This place seems good for people like me because I can come by drop something off. In an hour and a half estimate is ready. I had 1 medium size bag full of the most random clothes ever that have been sitting and collecting dust in my closet. I was going to donate them anyways. Instead I get $5.20. Better than 0 for donating. And the ones they don't want to buy they will donate it for me. It is a win win! I also have shopped here a couple times and they have some unique, cute stuff! love this spot but unfortunately a few days ago i went to go visit this store while on a date and we were told the systems were down and we were polite and told them that it was okay and were just gonna look around then the employee leaves then comes up and kicks us out?? he said actually you cant browse and basically kicked us out which i found so embarrassing considering i was on a date but what i found unprofessional is why the doors were still open and letting customers in they should've handled the situation better?? doors should've been locked! as someone who works in retail we've had a few system shut downs as well so i completely understand but we still let customers browse ?? we just let them know politely our system is down but kicking a customer out just felt rude and not necessary do better next time. read more

Before I attempted to get a quote here, I assessed my clothes online myself, I am willing to give up some money so that I don't have to go through Poshmark, Ebay, etc. But the quotes they gave me is so low that it's blatantly disrespectful. I really wonder how they assess their quotes.. I really do. For example, for an Off White Caravaggio Hoodie (barely worn, only dry-cleaned), they quoted me FIFTEEN.. $15. On Grailed.. Poshmark you can make at least 200. Example #2, they offered me literally $1 for a pair of VANS/Low-Sneakers (only worn twice). And to put the cherry on top, if I had agreed to this quote for the Vans, they would've sold it for $39. *Please see the attached photos for further proof. Almost every visit I have had at least one weird interaction (with specifically the white employees) and it honestly feels like I am being profiled or judged for just shopping. Do yourself a huge favor and don't waste your time coming here unless you have the whole day blocked off to kill time. This is my first and last time coming here. Total time took 4 hours - 27 items for $25.60. I checked in at 1:58PM on a Wednesday with two ikea bags filled with clothing. Upon checking in with the staff, he told us it would be a 2 hour wait - no problem we didn't mind this. After dropping off the clothes, we browsed the store, left the store to eat brunch at a nearby restaurant for 1hour, came back to browse every inch of the store a second time, browsed the outdoor area with other shops, came back at 5:34PM in which they are BARELY looking through the first bag. We've been waiting so patiently that I have the time to write this review as I'm waiting inside the store watching them go through the bags slowly. We didn't expect it to take THIS long. On top of that, they are sometimes chitchatting in between which slows down the entire process. They finished both bags at 5:42PM - 27 items for $25.60. They did end up taking a lot of stuff that were very new - Forever 21, Ralph Lauren, Adidas, Lululemon yet the value of the outcome wasn't expected. Majority of the pile as he stated during checkout came to be worth 10 cents per item, which in my opinion was NOT worth it. For example, I brought new Lululemon leggings that were originally $98 and he said it was worth 10 cents back. The exchange rate is RIDICULOUS here and they're super lucky I didn't want any of the items at all regardless of brand name or else I would have just taken it back based on that tiny amount offered. I would suggest going to Plato's, Crossroads, Buffalo Exchange, almost anywhere but here because in my experience they give more value back for less items. And just when I thought I couldn't get lowballed even more, I ended up buying a beanie for $5.39, but when I checked online it was selling for $2.99. No matter what I hope they can improve their waitlist system and exchange rate because this was not worth the hassle for especially since I came from a 40min drive. Employees were dismissive and not outgoing/friendly, other places would be welcoming and at least do the bare minimum to chit chat. Parking is tough even on a weekday. The ONLY REASON I SHOP HERE IS Because I live close by and every once in a while you can find A unique or a Rare authentic piece. Always overpriced and usually in pretty terrible condition. The absolute worst part about coming to the store is the staff, I'm disgusted that any retail business owner would allow such rude and inconsiderate, unknowledgeable, unfriendly gossipy lazy customer service. Been to 2nd street a couple times before but never purchased anything until my visit last night! I always thought this place was always overpriced but was pleasantly surprised after thoroughly looking through the items. My friend and I both found two tops each which was unexpected! The first thing I found was a black cropped tank top from Top Shop. Their clothing is made with great quality and for $7, it can't get much better than that. The second top I found was a tank top from the brand Garage. I was wearing a top from the same brand which was very good quality which I've had for years. Overall I'm trying to be more sustainable and will think of this place next time I'm in need of 'new' clothes. read more

This store can be great if one approaches selling properly. The other reviews are absolutely true as regards selling. This store will only offer a pittance for even the most expensive pieces. So here is a thought: Do not bring used luxury items here in hopes of making a quick buck. 2nd Street would probably offer like $5 for a Hermes shirt, if that. I exaggerated to make my point, but facts are facts. Do not go to 2nd St. looking for a seller's paradise. Go elsewhere for optimum return on selling. One should sell at 2nd Street to get rid of clothes that a pickier store would pass on. I brought in a massive mound of jokey t-shirts. They were not especially valuable or rare. 2nd Street picked up most of them. Rather than get nothing, I got $10 for a bunch of crappy t-shirts I did not wear anymore. I doubt any other place would have taken these tees. Go to 2nd Street to sell off clothes that probably will not sell or trade well at all. Then either pocket the dough or browse the store for a sought after bargain. 2nd Streets prices are more or less fair. Some items are steals or priced to sell. Hats go for between $5 and $10 at 2nd Street. I ended up taking home an almost brand new Raiders beanie for $9 that could have easily been sold for $15 or more online. I saw some cool snapbacks for as low as $5, and those can be upwards of $30 in most stores. I did not bother looking at the luxury items. They abound at 2nd Street. I am just not interested in paying hundreds of dollars for an old Supreme shirt or an LV bag that did not go well with some rich cosmopolite's wardrobe anymore. read more
