Truck drivers, especially small fleets, please, beware of this repair shop! 2nd to None Service takes full advantage of their remote NM location and can unfortunately do a lot of damage to your bottom line. It's great to read positive media coverage about the owners, but the media has failed to paint the whole picture of why they are successful. Has your truck broken down nearby? Their towing service is cheaper than the competition, but they charge unbelievably astronomical prices for their repair work (and parts) once they have you at the shop (where you have no other choice but to accept their rates). read more

First off, if you are traveling through Moriarty,NM and have car troubles, They will take advantage of your situation. They do not know how to troubleshoot codes in gas vehicles. Leaving you in the waiting room for hours on end. They break your working items, then not want to replace them with the OEM part they had broken, rather want to replace with cheaper item. They know nothing about customer service. Owner, David Saline will not take responsibility for his employees. He will not answer calls. read more

UPDATE: LIARS. I asked them to do a full fluid check. Apparently this does not include oil, the easiest fluid you can check. I pulled the dipstick when I got home and saw I was 2 gallons low. There's no way I lost 2 gallons on a 45 minute drive. I guess that means all the other fluids are not checked either. I was quoted 1000 bones for a full check and 2 sensors to be replaced. The sensors got replaced but apparently the wires were too hard to find. I walked away with 1247 and a light still on the dash for a failure. This is probably the best shop I have ever dealt with. My truck was acting funny and everyone in ABQ turned down the job because I have an older difficult engine (Detroit Diesel 55 Series) Stewart Stevenson just quoted me the parts ($6600) and never returned my calls for service. When I brought it here they re-ran the codes and realized I needed none of those parts - they diagnosed and repaired the issue for about $300. I had other errors that they brought up but they weren't pushy to have me get them fixed. All around friendly effective and efficient. read more

My daughter and I ran into some car trouble on our cross country trip from Atlanta to Los Angeles. We went to 2nd to None because of the great yelp reviews. It was a bit longer off the highway than I thought it would be. I think my navigator took me off the wrong exit at first cause when we left it was much closer to the get back on the road. The people in the front office and the repair guys were very nice. They have this German Shepard in the office that is very shy but seems sweet enough. Our check engine light was on. At first they said it would take until the next day to get it fixed. I told them we couldn't stay in this town. They said they would do what they could to get us back on the road. And they did! In a few hours we were back on our way to LA. They even called a few days later to check on us, mailed a thank you postcard to thank us for or service and sent us an email. Now however, they are sending emails weekly or biweekly. If you don't like a lot of junk emails, don't provide your email. read more

I can't say enough about this garage. I needed repairs for my diesel Excursion on a trip back to Reno from Texas. I really hate going to Ford Dealerships, so I spoke to a trucker while getting fuel. He had a friend that used this garage. I will admit, it was quite a way off Hwy 40 & I started to have 2nd thoughts the further out of town I got. But was afraid I wouldn't make it another 58 miles to a larger city. Thank goodness I didn't turn around. They are honest, caring, professional & just great guys: had me on the road in no time with little expense. Thank you Don, Billy, William & Dakota for such a great job. read more

My (older) diesel RV broke down in Sep 2018 near there - lost power and died, and after some inquiry as to who was good with diesel engines, had it towed to 2nd to None. Friendly, nice, vague, and after 6 weeks they still hadn't diagnosed the problem or found a solution. They (apparently) however, dumped a LOT of ether into the cylinders to get it started. Repeatedly. And changed two fuel pumps (which also apparently didn't really need changing). And not once did they initiate communication with me. I had to do all the calling - and got nice words and promises that turned out to be worthless. Frustrated, I had it shipped home on a flatbed to my regular shop for $2700. Had to pay them $2200+ first, though. Oh, and a for tow truck to load it on the flatbed - which I learned later had been unnecessary. $300. My home shop found the head gasket was blown, the heads were cracked, and the smell of ether was almost overpowering. The shop that planed the heads and discovered their cracks asked if ether had been used in quantity, and that they asserted that the repeated use of ether had cracked the heads. Once heads and gaskets replaced, the problem could be diagnosed. The problem? Garbage collected in the fuel inlet valve. The very simplest of fixes. I can't prove it, and I suspect they also broke my tachometer. AND, my brand new carpet was foul with shop dirt and boot prints when the RV got to my home shop. They didn't keep it covered, in spite of me covering it and making repeated requests to keep it clean. Cleaning won't be enough. There's another $1200+. My home shop charged me $5,000 for the heads, gasket and labor. For this misadventure I ended up paying around $11,000.00. And more still to fix. The entire cost could (and should) have been about $100, maybe $200 tops, and I could have been on my way in a few hours. read more

We took one of our International Trucks in to get the air conditioner fixed. Almost $2,000 later they said it was fixed and all we needed to do is take it to the international dealership to have it flashed. Took it to International dealership and came back with an estimate for $3,600 to fix it. Also had another truck taken in to have the engine rebuilt, over $25,000 later, it still wasn't running right. Second To None is a rip-off. You have been warned. It's no wonder they went out of business on Jefferson and I-25. read more

This is probably the worst shop I have ever dealt with. My car broke down while trying to get back home from a road trip and I had it towed here. When I called them the next morning to tell them what happened, I told them I thought the radiator was cracked. They never called me during the day to let me know what was going on, so I called that afternoon. They told me the water pump belt had broken and they were almost done fixing it. At the end of the day, right before they closed, they called and told me it was done and they would come pick me up. Well right after that they call me back to tell me they had found holes in the radiator, just like I had told them, but they had not checked. Then they told me they would look at radiators to replace it and call me back. The next morning they hadn't called me back, so I had to call again. Once again, they were in the process of already fixing it, without calling me like they said and authorizing it. There were a few other incidents during the couple days while it was in the shop where they never communicated with me or gave me wrong information. Then when I went to pick it up, I expressed my concerns to the guy at the desk. He immediately got an attitude and just try to dismiss everything I told them. They don't seem to know what professionalism is. The only reason they get two stars is because they fixed my vehicle and the owner cut a little bit off the price because he saw what a hassle I had gone through. read more

Lies lies lies!!! Claimed to have done a diagnosis. In my head I'm thinking computer diagnostic test. Which should provide codes for issues with engine performance. Well they charged me $90 to tell me exactly (word for word) what I said I wanted fixed. I told them a mouse had chewed through some wires and a vacuum line. They wanted to charge me $200 to wash off mouse droppings (2 hours shop rate) we took it to the car wash only cost me $1.50 and about 3 minutes and we brought it back. Should've cut my losses and went anywhere else!!! They quoted me $870 to complete the list of repairs I wanted done. In Albuquerque it's going to cost only $270-$300 so glad we found out before spending so much!!! Good luck read more

The standard review on a mechanic shop is about how professional and prompt they are. Yes, that is true. This is about their honesty. I broke down on I-40 between Las Vegas and Dallas. Thought the problem was something totally different than what it turned out to be, which would have been a much more expensive repair. They had a prime opportunity to "pad the bill" and didn't take it! If I lived in the area, I would not consider taking my truck to anyone else. read more

This buisness is a mess...save yourself a headache and DO NOT use this shop! The mechanics were nice guys and knowledgeable, but could not make up for the rest of the shit show. They had my truck for 3 weeks to replace a timing belt that failed under warranty. Not only did they not get it done when I really needed it by but they tried to make me pay for service that was already under warranty. Very dishonest folks! read more
