A hidden gem in Jersey City. If you don't look carefully you will pass this place up. But you won't be dissapponted. It's a hole in the walk with only two tables and 5 seats. It's best to order it and carry it out. The food is made to order. I been here a few times I usually get the same thing and it's delicious. I get the alambre con queso. But I substitute chicken instead of beef. It has bacon, onion, peppers mushrooms and cheese. It's like a chicken cheese steak taco. Yum. I also had their guacamole which was delicious as well. I probably order from this spot a few times a month. I always order the same exact thing, the chicken burrito and chips and guacamole! Those are definitely the best things on the menu in my opinion! I always have left overs as well! This is a small mom and pop shop so I love supporting a hard-working local JC spot. The son is usually the guy that delivers to me. He is a very friendly guy. This one of the few authentic Mexican Restaurants in Jersey City. Small, low-key, non-presumptuous but offering really great Mexican cuisine at very affordable prices. I particularly love the fish tacos. It is on a soft-shell, served with tasty fillet of (i believe) tilapia. Also equally delicious is the quesadilla in different flavors. Comes with sour cream, guacamole, and that combo of tomatoes, cilantro, onions on the side. Fortunately, they accept credit cards now and they deliver via phone call or seamless. After a day of running around and getting slammed in Hudson Co. traffic, my wife and I decided to find a new spot for delivery. I've driven past this spot many times and thought that it looked intriguing. I had the chorizo burrito. My wife had the steak burrito. Both came stuffed with Mexican rice, cheese and meat. The seasoning and the flavors were spot on! We added on some sour cream and guacamole and we were in heaven. The real surprise was the steak quesadilla that we ordered to split. It was probably the best (non-homemade) quesadilla that I've ever had!!!! The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the speed of delivery. Slow is an understatement! A friend who lives up the block from here introduced me to this place and I've been in awe ever since! Their guacamole is so good and fresh. They don't skimp with their burritos. They make a REALLY good quesadilla - I've almost exclusively had the chicken. And I absolutely love their steak and onion tacos. I'm deducting a star because they can be a tad bit heavy on the oil/grease at times. I found the chorizo con queso tacos (Mexican sausage with cheese) that I ordered over the weekend to taste something like a Crisco taco. I could barely taste the flavor in the chorizo, if there was any. The melted cheese on top didn't help either. I do forgive them for this misstep and will just avoid them moving forward. The name may lead you to believe this is a coffee house, but it is a Mexican restaurant in a most unexpected location across from the Beacon. I had passed it a number of times and finally ordered delivery one day, taking advantage of the "first-time order" discount. Since there was a $15 minimum, I decided to order a variety of food: a mushroom quesadilla, chicken burrito, chips, and a beef empanada. The quesadilla packed a cheesy, mushroomy punch. The burrito was freaking huge and stuffed to the max with rice, well-spiced chicken, and cheese (I requested no beans so can't comment on that). The accompanying guac was fresh and tasty. The chips were crisp, with just the right amount of salt, and were freshly made, which I appreciated - nothing compares to homemade tortilla chips, seriously. I also enjoyed the empanada- the filling was flavorful and not greasy at all. My only gripe was that the delivery took just over an hour. Also, according to the delivery site, the quesadilla should have come with guac as well, and it only came with sour cream. Overall, though, it was worth the wait. Tiny little place, so it's better to get your food to go. I do not suggest delivery, because I live pretty close by and it took almost two hours to get the food once, and the order was messed up. At that point we didn't want to wait for re-delivery so we just ate what was delivered. That being said, the food is very delicious and for a good price. There is no possible way that this place deserves more than 1 star. We did a pick up order. The place does not appear clean. My steak tacos came with a combination of burnt steak and pure fat. There is no need for the added oily cheese on top of the tacos. I was unable to eat the tacos. The fajitas were also not good; too oily and it didn't taste like chicken. This place is great. Ordered delivery, arrived within an hour. Delivery guy was super nice. They brought us a sprite instead of a ginger ale and he offered to bring back the right drink. They are super affordable. We ordered a chicken quesadilla, an empanada, fish tacos, fries, chips and salsa and 3 drinks for 30 bucks total. Seriously you can't beat it. And the food was excellent. The fish tacos come with three and they are very light with fresh ingredients. Nice crunchy coating on the grilled fish. The guacamole was amazing, nice hefty portion, made perfectly and came with thick, crunchy tortilla chips with just a hint of salt. Delish!! 3 Coffee Beans is a very good Mexican food option in the Jersey City area. The guacamole is inexpensive and plentiful, certainly more so than many other offerings nearby. Chicken quesadillas are tasty, although sometimes they can be somewhat greasy for my taste. Flautas are a good dish too. My only negative experience came during my second order with them. Delivery took close to two hours. I called them about an hour into the order and they gave me the usual boilerplate message that my delivery was on its way and should be there any minute. A half hour later, I called again and this time they called the delivery person to inquire about her whereabouts. Ten to fifteen minutes later, my lukewarm food was delivered. Aside from this experience however, deliveries have been prompt and usually on the earlier side of the time estimate. Sadly, they do not offer chilaquiles, one of my favorite dishes. However, their available options are very good and definitely rank among the higher end in the Jersey City area. read more

An hour and a half for delivery, barely any meat in the burrito nothing but rice. The quesadilla was good, the chorizo tacos are a miss no cilantro or salsa on it, just plain. I believe in redemption. I gave 3 coffee beans another chance. I ordered my food on seamless 100 minutes ago, and it is not here. They estimated 60-75 minutes. So, even giving them the benefit of the doubt, 25 minutes late. I know I said it before, but never, ever again. Ordered from here twice now and ended up sitting around for hours starving both times even though they are like a mile from my apartment. update: I called the restaurant after 2 hours, and they said "your food is here. Excellent food. You get a lot for what you pay. I tried the steak and mushroom tacos (3), the beef empanadas, fries, chips and guacamole. It was all excellent. I had enough for 3 full meals for about 15 bucks. I especially loved their empanadas and guacamole. To die for! Ordered delivery here a few times and each time the food was delicious and arrived hot. The guacamole is actually very good (I'm a guac snob) and only $1 for a small side order. We've had the fish tacos, the fish burrito, various quesadillas, fish torta, shrimp fajita and last but not least the cheese empanada (sounds crazy but this was amazing! - still warm & perfectly fried on the outside). We even had an issue with ordering on Seamless one day and the owner personally called us to apologize and even offered a discount off our next order. I ordered dinner from here for my staff at work last night and everyone really enjoyed their food. Good quantity and reasonable prices. I had a veggie burrito which was perfect mix of veggies, cheese, rice and beans. Also had the guac which was delicious and I highly recommend. This was some of the worst food I have had in the area. We ordered at 8pm and the food came at 9:40. The chicken burrito had barely a drop of chicken in it was just all rice. The floatas seemed like something you buy in the frozen food section of your grocery store. The shrimp tacos were covered in breading to the point there was hardly any shrimp in them. I actually live only a couple doors down from them and order food occasionally, they are always so friendly. Even when I'm not in ordering food, the owner recognizes me and always says "hello". This place is awesome! I have had plenty of Mexican food in the NYC/NJ area but 3 Coffee Beans knows how to make the best corn tortilla pork, chicken, and steak tacos around. They load them up with fresh veggies and the tacos aren't oily like you may get at other places. The side of guacamole is as good as it gets! My favorite part about ordering from here is the service. This review is solely based off of the service provided, since at this point I haven't even been able to smell my food. I ordered food online, which I know can some times be problematic. After waiting an hour and a half for my food to be delivered I called to ask where it is...The man on the phone says its on the way it will be there soon. So I wait another 40 mins and call again. A woman answers this time and says there was no order placed and asked for a confirmation number. After giving that information she says "sorry about that we will take the charge off the card and send you your food at no charge" One hour later still no food...... So I call again, and they call the delivery guy who claims to have deliver it but yet disputes that comment minuets later. Needless to say I am very upset about the customer service provided by this restaurant. The restaurant officially closed before I got my food, thats pretty pathetic. read more

I had the chicken quesadillas and the guac - both were ok, not spectacular. While a quesadilla isn't that hard to mess up, the guac was surprisingly lacking in flavor and the chips were very oily. Overall, I've had better Mexican in JC, but if you have a random craving and live in the area, I think this does the trick. read more
