Our 7 year old son was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. To help him, we decided to take advantage of a free introductory martial arts class offered by 3-Tigers Martial Arts near our home in Spokane Valley, WA. Once we walked in, we were greeted by Mr. Tibbetts and were given the tour of the facility. I had a conversation with him and let him know about our son. From that first day, he was hooked (and so were we). As time passes, our son not only answers with a "Yes, Sir" or "Yes, Ma'am", at home and school, showing respect but learns and uses what he takes from his lessons with "Mat Chats" which range from life lessons on "Respect" to "Teamwork". It started out (for us) as a way for our son to meet and interact with other children outside of school and be involved in an extra curricular activity, but has grown to be an integral part of our lives. We are extremely grateful for having found 3-Tigers Martial Arts and the positive influence/impact they have had in our son's home and school life. Found this place when trying to find a place that would help my son with learning self defense/confidence from being bullied at school. Master Tibbetts class is exceptional and the program is pretty amazing. The environment is fun along with the lessons and wisdom they learn from Master Tibbetts is pretty awesome. Every class he teaches a life lesson around a word like "motivation" "generosity", "trust", etc. He gives a life story to tie it together that is impactful. It isn't just the martial arts peice which is the self defense we were after but the life values he helps teach the kiddos that really makes the difference. read more

Can't say enough how compassionate, patient and dedicated Master Tibbits and his staff are. There is a good balance of formal instruction and informal connection time with the kids at a level they really respond to. I love that they break out into smaller groups and get one-on-one attention/feedback. Our 8 yr old daughter has grown tremendously in her manners (not talking back as much), responsibility (remembering homework), social skills (making new friends), confidence (taking good risks) and physical fitness. My son absolutely loves attending Master T's martial arts classes. His self confidence and self pride have sky rocketed since he started along with his awareness of others and personal responsibility to own his mistakes and find a healthy solution.
