They have lots of areas to explore including a massive rose garden, manicured and sculpted gardens, green house, and Japanese gardens. Plan to spend at least 2 hours here to take it all in. This is a gorgeous park and botanical garden bustling with people and butterflies and life! We stopped here to have some lunch under the covered picnic area and were surrounded by green grass and the sound of children playing at the nearby playground. There was a cool breeze through the canopies on a very warm day and garbage cans to dispose of our leftovers. When we stumbled upon the gorgeous flower gardens, I could not believe it. There were multiple gardeners working outside of the conservatory and although it was closed, I can't imagine that there was anything more beautiful inside than what we saw outside. We were able to sit over at the benches and rally enjoy the fountain and manicured flowers. There was a large, veryrude family that did come through who wanted to scream at their kids and then try to take photographs in front of the flowers like a happy family. Then allow their smaller children to stomp through the flowers and scream loudly while they stared at their phones. And there were of course at least two young ladies posing for "the gram" that picked flowers and made obnoxious gestures in ridiculously skimpy clothes... I guess those types of things can't be helped these days and they are no reflection on the garden itself, just be prepared for your peace to be interrupted. We also made a quick stop at the Rose garden which I did not find to be quite as beautiful but smelled lovely... There were just too many bugs and it was there were just too many bugs and it was far too warm to spend much time there. If I lived closer to this park, I would come everyday to listen to the sound of the fountain and appreciate the beauty of the topiaries and flowers and I would recommend a stop here for anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature. read more

This was such a great experience. We went to see the Christmas lights and the experience was fun for everyone. Parking is on the street so it's always recommended to arrive early but the walk was short and it was very easy to find the entrance . The set up made for a very easy walk around and you had lots of opportunities to stop and take pictures. There was even a warming tent where you could stop and take a break and some food carts that were reasonably priced. Definitely an experience I would like to do again and family friendly read more

I've been staying in Spokane with our dog and Manito Park has become a daily destination for us. It's dog friendly- yay- and we've been all over the park with her. The exceptions are the Conservatory and the Japanese Garden (which I read online was not dog-friendly). Our first stop was the duck pond. The duck pond was very easy to get to from the parking lot and a fun, busy place to be. We've also explored the Lilac garden near the pond. It was out of season for the flowers, but fine for a walk. Our best routine was to park between the rose garden and the perennial garden. From there it's also a short walk to Duncan Garden, the conservatory and the Japanese garden. The gardens are so beautiful. I think I took a million pictures at Duncan and the perennial gardens. Amazing! Although on a map, this park looks huge, in person it's a very walkable, manageable size. read more

Wow! Manito Park was one of the favorite places that my wife and I visted. It is a not only a park, but, also a botanical garden. They have a nice rose garden. The Japanese Garden was expertly landscaped and designed. They have a sizeable lake, lots of different gardens and picnic tables. It was just a wonderful place to visit. During the summers, they have concerts in the park. During Christmastime, they have the Manito Holiday Lights, both of which we missed. It was a great place for us to visit. It is a must visit when in Spokane. Best of all, it is free! read more

I went to Manito Park on a sunny Sunday afternoon with my friends. It is located on the South Hill side of Spokane. When we were there, we walked through the Japanese and Duncan Garden. Something that stood out to me about the garden was how even though it was mid-day, and at its peak of activity. it was still calming and quiet. Allowing for a peaceful walk with my friends. I think Manito Park is designed for the community. It allows for students, families, tourists to all come together in one peaceful spot in the center of the city. I think this is evident in the people you see around the park. At Manito, because it is the beginning of spring, there are lots of new growth at the garden. There are also statues, greenhouses, and water fountains that surround the park. The purpose of the park is to conserve natural areas of growth in Spokane. This allows for culture and educational purposes. They actively succeed in their mission, through their efforts to maintain historical growth and animal conservation like frogs and birds. the park is easy to navigate due to clear signs that point you in the right direction. I give this park a 5/5 rating because it matches its mission and goal completely. and provides and welcoming and hospitable community center, where everyone can come together to embrace Spokanes natural beauty. read more

Beautiful park in Spokane, Lots of parking on the Monday we visited. The duck pond was my favorite place watching the variety of gold fish swimming in the greenery and the ducks diving. Japanese gardens were pretty. I would have wished to see more variety of Koi fish and clearer water. It was so green with algae but none the less we enjoyed our walk around. Very nice stop in Spokane. Driving around looking at the many interesting houses around the neighborhood was alos an highlight for me. read more

Manito Park in the heart of Spokane is a gem that lights up the Lilac City. With the botanical gardens, sprawling hills great for sledding in snow white winter, and a beautiful pond with many native species of plants and animals, this park is a true treasure. Many wonderful memories connect me to this beautiful park and the thought of it now as I write this review many years later brings a smile to my face remembering the time I spent here among the willow trees by the pond and the grassy hills and spectacular botanical and Japanese gardens. Manito Park is sure to take your breath away. An excellent place to visit with your kids or alone. A beautiful place to check out in Spokane! The grounds are beautifully kept, with spectacular flowers and quiet sanctuaries - particularly the Japanese Garden. Parking is available all over the park and it's easy to get from one place to another on foot...and even with a stroller or wagon for children. I've had this place bookmarked for a while and this is also the #1 activity to do in Spokane on TripAdvisor, so it just makes sense that I would visit here. Given its beauty, I'm a little surprised how close it is to the center and city of Spokane but that makes it so convenient to make a stop here for a couple hours to enjoy it all. When you get here, you will see Manito Park and parking for the park. You'll also see a lake (which is also very nice to walk around) and you'll be tempted to park here, but if you continue up the road you'll end up closer to the Botanical Gardens portion of the name which has a lot more parking. There are different sections in the park but the one that you've probably seen is Duncan Garden which has the large garden with colorful flowers. There's also Rose Garden and the conservatory that are also nice to walk around and take some pictures. There are also some tables throughout to take a break and eat some lunch and there are also restrooms everywhere. You'll walk around a lot and see some pretty things along the way. read more

Beautiful gardens and park in Spokane. Originally called Montrose Park, the name was changed to Manito in 1904 by the city manager. Manitou is a Algonquian Native American word that means "a supernatural force that pervades nature." Today, the 90 acres of Manito Park are free and open for all to visit. So nice to visit Mirror Park for a picnic lunch and to watch the ducks. (Don't feed the ducks as it can damage the pond.) Rose Hill has over 150 varieties of roses. The park's Rose Hill rose was number one in the nation in 2007. Although the Japanese Garden was closed, we took a quick glance through the fence at this tranquil garden. I'm from out of state and visited one afternoon and it seemed to be a safe park - families with young children, seniors out walking, no sketchy people hanging around. Such a beauty that goes on for miles! And it's all free to get into! Each part of the part has a different themed garden...like the Japanese one, roses, dahlias, the greenhouse, etc. We visited Spokane and had an afternoon devoted to flower sight seeing that did not disappoint. I especially loved the dahlia garden as I have never seen dahlias that big. If you are visiting Spokane, I'd say this is a must-do if you love being outside and flowers. You could spend 5 hours here and really see the whole thing/enjoy it, or just go to a few key spots in an hour or two if you don't want to be there as long. Tip: bring snacks, water, or even a picnic lunch as there's only one cafe in the park that closes by 5 and doesn't have a ton of choices (and may be far from where you're at). read more

This is my favorite park in Spokane. It's a great place to walk, run, grab a coffee and gab with a friend, sit and watch the birds, check out the gardens, picnic......I could go on. I've spent many lunch hours here decompressing. Meticulously maintained and on the City Drive. Duncan Gardens, Rose Hill, and Japanese Gardens are all beautiful. Mirror Pond is being refurbished and is a great place for a walk anytime of the year. Check out Gaiser Conservatory when it reopens. Located in the Duncan Gardens upper lot, so many beautiful flowers and plants to see. The Friends of Manito have annual plant sales too. This needs to be added to your list of regular hang outs. read more

GORGEOUS park! The trees, the expansive grass areas, the playgrounds... it's a wonderful place that I've enjoyed taking my toddler! My boyfriend and his brother enjoy throwing a disc here. Nearby, you can walk the gardens that are planted with fresh flowers for the summer. Manito Park and all of the botanical gardens have always been in a special place in my heart. All around the year they are completely gorgeous, especially in the spring and summer when all of the flowers are in bloom. They have many different trails that you can walk on that are both paved and gravel and dirt, and it is easily accessible for anyone who wants to get outside. There are quite a few dogs and pets as well. From the botanical gardens to the duckpond to the sledding hill and the pavilion... There really is some thing for everyone. What I love about the park is it is always well-maintained and up-kept. The trails are clear and the air usually as well :-). Even on a day like today where there is a lot of smoke in the air, being around nature and the flowers of Manito helps me forget about all of the other problems. If you're looking for a nice place to go on a date, look no further. They have lots of cute gazebos for photos and millions of places to throw blanket down for a picnic. It is very close to some grocery stores as well as some coffee shops and if you're looking to explore the park and the neighborhood, go for it. read more

I wasn't expecting much when we headed toward the Japanese Gardens, but I was pleasantly surprised when we got there. The park appears to be a collection of different types of gardens, all connected by natural pine forest, the type of forest you would see north of Spokane. The Japanese Garden section is small, with a loop around a large koi pond, but the trees are expertly manicured, the fish are big, and there isn't any trash in sight. Elaborating on this last point, I was surprised at how clean the entire Manito Park was during our walk. They must put a lot of effort into maintaining it, or the Spokane population cares enough about the park to not litter. After leaving the Japanese Gardens, there are a number of trails available that lead to other areas of the park. One of the more striking features is the Duncan Garden next to the conservatory. Based on my first impression, it appeared to have the style of a European royal garden, based on its emphasis of long rectangular and geometric designs. Compared with other areas of Manito Park that highlight plants in a natural way, the Duncan Garden emphasizes man's power over plants and his ability to shape the wild into organized, concrete ideas. The people in the surrounding neighborhood have the gift of seeing the full life cycle of Manito Park, coming to life in the spring, reaching its apex in the summer, then slowly wilt into winter hibernation. I hope they take advantage of it. read more

This is one of my favorite places in Spokane. Whenever I'm in the area I make a point to stop here and visit the Japanese gardens and the conservatory. Everything is stunning, meticulously groomed and manicured and you'll most likely see some wildlife while visiting. Dogs are allowed here (except in the Japanese gardens), and leashed of course. If you're visiting Spokane, this is definitely a must stop, especially during the Christmas season. They light-up the conservatory. read more

The best park in Spokane. Go here and you'll never turn back. I've had many memorable visits to Manito Park, having gone to college in the area. So when my bestie and I had a weekend reunion we visited Manito Park as our first stop. It was just as beautiful as I remembered it. Manito Park is huge. The space is really a great place for many to convene and partake in a range of activities. With that said, there are many different entrances to the park, yet there are plenty of parking lots that make it accessible for visiting. However, if you are taking a ride share here, be sure to indicate to the driver what part of the park you're specifically visiting otherwise it may be a long walk to wherever you're trying to go, depending on where you start. It's doable though if you do want to explore the entire park. Just plan half a day for it. My favorite part of the park is the Dunn Gardens where the conservatory is. I love the European style garden that is carefully manicured as a maze of flowers with green archways on the sides and tall bushes for walls. There's a fountain in the center, as well as a gazebo at the far end from where the conservatory is. It's a setting for where many weddings occur. The park has playgrounds, walking trails, a cafe, a Japanese garden, flower gardens, large lawns for picnicking and pigging out, etc... You will find a little bit of everything here. Manito Park is a gem in Spokane and is a must visit whenever I'm back in the area. read more
