We were there on a Thursday at exactly Noon for lunch. We got seated quickly. The ambiance is well thought out with seating like a dhaba with cots if you prefer to sit like in a dhaba in a roadside truck stop in India! The truck grille, the walls and punjabi songs on tv completed the picture. The menu is large and had a lot of choices. We ordered the appetizer platter. Was good enough for three adults. Ordered Shahi Paneer no spice, but Sarason ka saag medium spice. Ordered chole bhature. Everything was heavenly. The bhature had no oil, very soft and tasty!! The spicier stuff also has subtle tastes to them. Not to be missed if you are passing on 81 or live nearby. We drove an hour to get there. Worth making the trip. Great food and awesome service. It took me awhile to find my way here, since I couldn't remember which exit off 81 (exit 323 in Va) it was, or the name of the place. But today, after a lovely walk in Winchester I made it my business to find 323 Dhaba. What a delightful surprise! The interior was pleasant, with plenty of seating unless it gets packed. I'm not super familiar with Indian food, but since it's all vegetarian I can just try everything on the menu! The food was amazing, and the girl who waited on me was delightful, too. If you like Indian food or you are vegetarian, I'd suggest you run on over here to give it a try. I know I'll be back. read more

But don't be fooled, this hidden gem will surprise you. As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted by friendly staff and promptly seated. Bottled water was already on the table, and the décor featured beautiful images and historical Punjabi texts that added character to the space. When we arrived around 2 p.m., the dining area was nearly empty, but within minutes, several more groups came in and quickly filled the place; always a good sign. The menu offers a great variety of authentic Punjabi vegetarian dishes. Our group of six ordered samosa chaat, chana masala, tadka dal, bhindi masala, tava roti, rice, sweet lassi, and mango lassi. Every dish arrived piping hot, freshly made, and absolutely delicious. Prices were very reasonable, and the experience overall exceeded expectations. I am perhaps the opposite of a vegetarian but it is Friday in lent so why not go to the vegetarian Indian place so my penance can at least have some flavor. The food was outstanding. Unlike last time, I was asked my spice level preference and I asked for the spiciest. They warned me this was "Indian level spicy." I assured them I wanted them to try to hurt me. It was perfect as opposed to last time which was a bit bland. I like to have some tears forming by the end of the meal. I had the appetizer sampler and everything was very good. I then had the Saron Da Saag and a Mango Lassi. The Lassi was maybe the best drink I ever had. The Saag dish was very, very good. I also can't say enough nice things about the rice, which was perfect. The interior was very minimal but I appreciate that as a place just starting out with not a lot of investment available. My only major critique is the process is confusing. When you come in you don't know whether to order at the counter or be seated? Once seated do you order at the counter? Once finished do you pay at the table or counter? A more proactive approach to host/hostessing would make this a 5 star review. read more

I am a big fan of Indian cuisine (the search topic I used on yelp) and found this restaurant to be one of the very best I have found in many years of traveling. The waiter was extremely helpful in selecting a good variety of dishes for my niece and I to enjoy. The blend of spices used was magnificent and we enjoyed every single bite! The facility was extremely clean. I don't eat off of the floor, but this was that clean. Very authentic and enjoyable experience. Don't miss it. The only negative thing I can say is that I am upset that it is 7 hours from my home!! read more

This was my 1st time at this Dhaba. To start with was a friendly atmosphere and nice seating. I ordered 2 dishes to try. I found that both were above expectation, authentic Punjabi cuisines, prepared like home made, tasty and frankly speaking the quantity was huge. The gentleman who took the order and the lady who served the food were very polite and smiling all the time. Although there were many customers there being served, the food did not take that long to be on the table, freshly made and hot. If any one wants a real home made taste of Vegetarian Punjabi food, I highly recommend this place. The hygiene of the place was maintained really good. I would give it 100 out of 100 for the quality of food served, if one excepts I would give over 100 points for it. I will certainly go back as many times as I can. Keep it up. The food feels fresh and is tasty. They do get a lot of orders so the food would be a little slow to arrive, would recommend that you plan for staying longer if you are going there on a weekend. The ambience is decent, they have a billiards/snooker table and a carrom board there as well. Giving them a 4 star instead of 5 due to the wait times. read more

We were on a vacation to Canaan Valley Resort and this was about 110 miles from here. All the great reviews made us take the risk. We ordered Paneer pakoda, paneer paratha, Amritsari Kulcha and Kadhi pakoda. Hands down, this is the best Indian food money can buy. You need your grandma for better food. My husband and I love this restaurant because the food is so good! My husband is a vegetarian and there are so few fully vegetarian restaurants in the Eastern Panhandle, so it is nice that it's also the best Punjab Indian restaurant in the Eastern Panhandle. I was hoping this place was going to be really good after reading the 5 star reviews. My family is Vegitarian, and we love Indian food, and we go out to eat it at least 3 times a month. Well, either we went on a bad day or everyone who wrote reviews are friends of the owners. It's a small, somewhat cozy place, and the people were friendly. They have a pretty large menu, and everything is Vegitarian. When we arrived there was only one other table of 6 in the place. But within 30 minutes, the place was full and overcrowded. Everyone besides us was Indian which i thought was a good sign. Service was slow. We ordered 5 dishes, and they came out at different times. Had to ask for silverware, and they didn't have forks. Only knives and spoons. The bread bucket we ordered was good, and so were the samosas. The 5 entrees we ordered were all bland and didn't have a lot of flavor. They only brought one small bowl of rice for the 5 of us, and we had to ask 3 times for them to bring more. There are at least 5 other Indian restaurants in the area, and in my opinion, all of them are better than this place. read more

It was our first time trying this place and we had high hopes and after taking to one of the workers our hopes got higher but when we got the food it was not good at all. The color was off and there was no taste like non. No salt, no spices or anything that could give the food any taste.
