My sister chose this place for lunch over the weekend. It's a very cute quiet place when we came (since they just opened). We ordered the octopus and pani puri for the appetizers and butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, korma chicken, and palak paneer for the entrees. Everything was flavorful and delicious! We ate it family style. Our waiter was also very nice and attentive.

Finally took the time to stop by this restaurant in pike & rose. The atmosphere is on the nicer end. Perfect for date nights but also good for a casual night with friend or family. Came in with my mom more casual and didn't feel out of place. Our server was great at explaining everything to us and giving us his recommendations based on what we told him our preferences were. Our food came out quick, hot, & delicious. I ordered the butter chicken which was creamy & packed with flavor. My one critique on the food overall is the side of rice portion compared to the amount of sauce/curry isn't enough. I ordered an extra side of rice to have enough for my leftovers. My mom ordered the chicken vindaloo & she loved it. She had the same critique about the rice portion. Ofcourse we got a side of garlic naan which was great, no notes! I definitely plan to come back and try more of the traditional indian dishes I've never tried before!

Count me as a fan of Commonwealth! Very nice and modern Indian restaurant located in Pike and Rose. I love the interior of the restaurant- it's so nice. I couldn't believe they have crispy spinach chaat on their menu. This is Rasika's signature dish, so now I don't have to go to DC to satisfy my craving. It was very good, almost as good as Rasika's. My daughter really enjoyed the butter chicken and garlic naan. It was her first time trying Indian food and she can't wait to come back again. She's a picky eater, so that is saying something. It was also my first time trying Chicken Biryani. This is one spicy dish! Chicken was very tender and flavorful. The portion sizes here are pretty large, so this dish was my leftover lunch and dinner the following day. Our server was very friendly, and food came out pretty quick. I've read the past reviews of a lunch buffet, but that isn't being offered any more. They do have lunch specials though. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a more upscale Indian restaurant. Prices are a little high, but hey it's Pike and Rose, so what can you expect.

If you love Indian food, Commonwealth Indian Restaurant is worth a visit. Located in Pike & Rose, it's a white tablecloth restaurant with plenty of seating. To eat, we enjoyed the spinach chaat, butter chicken, mango chutney, butter naan, chocolate cake, and cardamom creme brulee. The butter chicken was especially delicious full of flavor and with a unique touch. The mango margarita was refreshing! Service is impeccable and it's clear staff take pride in their work.

This past Monday morning was extremely cold, but my friend and I were down to try an Indian restaurant together, so we decided to meet at Commonwealth. I got here a bit before 12 PM, and it was fairly empty. The interior has a fancy, elegant vibe, with neatly folded cloth napkins propped up and silverware already set at each table. After ordering, they gave us complimentary papad (papadam) and mango chutney to enjoy while we waited for our food. The papad looked like a wonton chip at first glance, but it was much lighter and airier. The crunch was gentle and soft that dissolved very easily. Its delicate, lightly salty flavor paired well with the sweetness of mango chutney, which had a thick, jam-like texture with small pieces of mango mixed in. This was a delightful start, and we both really enjoyed it. CHICKEN BIRYANI - 19.99 The portion of the chicken biryani we got was pretty big, with a mountain of aromatic rice topped with plenty of garnish. It was a bit spicy, but not too much. The rice had a wetter, mushier texture, instead of the dry, individual grains I'm used to. The biryani had a decent amount of spice, but the flavors didn't blend harmoniously, like something was missing. The chicken pieces were pretty big, but tender. Overall, it was OK, but not something I'd order again. CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA - 20.99 My friend and I both agreed that the chicken tikka masala was surprisingly delightful, especially the tomato-based curry. The San Marzano tomatoes really shined through, giving the curry a bright sweetness that we both really enjoyed. The chicken was on the drier side, but we didn't mind as much because the bold flavors of the curry made up for it. We'd highly recommend giving the chicken tikka masala a try -- it's definitely one of the best ones I've had at a restaurant. GARLIC NAAN - 4.99 Each order comes with four quarters of naan, generously topped with finely minced garlic. It was on the greasier side, but that also meant it was pretty crispy. We enjoyed the naan with the chicken tikka masala we ordered. At the end, we had a lot of leftovers, enough for the both of us to enjoy another meal. We probably could have gotten away with just ordering the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan to share.

Such a great dining experience! We visited Commonwealth Indian yesterday for dinner and it didn't disappoint. It was an early dinner, so the vibe was quiet. The decor is so beautiful. I have to say that the service was amazing. Our server knew the menu front and back, and was able to explain dishes to the rest of my party who never had Indian food before. Not pictured was the Chaat and Samosas. I got the Chicken Tikka Marsala and we got a few Naans for the table. Flavors were out of this world! My sister got the salmon. I have passed this place multiple times so I'm glad I finally visited. 10/10! Can't wait to return.

Thursday 10/10/2024 This spot is located in the pike & rose area (right next to fogo chao) so you know it's going to be pricey but that's fine as long as the food is worth it. I made a call in order for takeout and spent $61.44 total on: butter chicken (mild) $22, chicken tikka masala (mild) $22, Samosa $9, and garlic naan $5. - the chicken tikka masala was a little underwhelming but it's alright. Also it's not worth $22. - The butter chicken was solid but I've had better. Also it's another item that's not worthy of its price $22 tag. - The samosas were a good size and they were alright BUT $4.50 per samosa is crazy (should be like $3-$3.50 per). It also comes with 2 sauces: green sauce which has a tangy type of flavor and the brown sauce was kinda sweet. - The garlic naan was very disappointing and below average. It didn't have the garlic flavor that I was expecting. - The basmati rice was just rice, nothing more to it. Overall, the food is alright but it's extremely overpriced as the taste and portions are below expectations. Wouldn't recommend or return as there are plenty better Indian spots in the Maryland area.

A good spot for food and a quiet spot to get some work done! My friend and I got samosas which were tasty and rather large We had garlic naan which was alright. I ordered Palak with chicken, extra spicy which was very yummy. Large portions so I went home with left overs and so did my friend! Would love to come back for the lunch special Monday through Friday!

The location of this restaurant is noticeable **the name was in big red letters**, it was not hard to find parking either, I went to park at the garage next door. It felt like a palace when I first walked in, you have these tile floors and Indian antiques propped on a shelf on the right, there was a lot to observe overall. Ample lighting and Twas a busy restaurant when I first walked when, there was a band playing and a large group of people, perhaps an event was occurring. I received warm hospitality from the server, hostess, and manager I believe stopped by to say hello. My friend & I ordered two appetizers the chicken mono (delicious with the paired dip) & crispy spinach Chaat ( this one was so refreshing , light & crunchy at the same time). Yellow crab entree was creamy & spicy which I was hoping it was & paired well with white rice & lamp chops were cooked to perfect, tender & juicy. We even used the garlic naan to dip the yellow crab entree with. The server had recommended an Indian whisky (the first one listed on their drink menu) & it was strong alright! Great experience overall, very nice staff.

This is what good indian food should taste like; delicious. They are so good you want to eat more even when your stomach is about to _______. I don't know about their service or ambiance since I've only had carry out; I guess I'll have to try it out next time. On a side note, my wife rates this as 5, but I think it's a 4; their price is a bit high, in my opinion.

The girls shared the meatballs, garlic bread, and caprese salad. Thank you to our server for bringing out gluten free bread for one of our guests with a gluten allergy. Our main dishes was the shrimp scampi, which was full of flavor and so tasty. There were several of us who ordered the shrimp scampi and you could hear a chorus of oohs and aah's. We loved every bite. I am pleased to share that Caruso's has gluten free pasta for guests with gluten allergies. And, the gluten free pasta was scrumptious. The birthday girl had chicken parmigiana and a side of spaghetti. She really enjoyed her meal. Another, guest had the penne pasta and she loved hers too. There portions were very generous. We also had a guest order the Caesar salad with shrimp. It came out with dressing, when the dressing was supposed to be on the side, but our waiter was quick to remedy that. The ambiance is lovely and reminds me of my grandmother's home in Little Italy. It is old world Italian with comfortable seating. I know it was a busy night, but the one fly in our ointment was our server. There was too much of a lag between courses, and main dishes came out of the kitchen at different times. Also, our gluten free guest had to sit and watch while others ate cake because her ice cream sundae was no where to be found. It finally made it to the table, but I felt badly for this young lady. I know our server was swamped with guests. Hopefully, next time a large party is on the schedule, they can lighten the load for that server. All of the girls had a good time including the birthday girl. So, I am reminded of the saying, it all works out in the end. Thank you, Caruso's.

One time there was nigiri made with stale rice, but at least that only happened once. I've had scales in the sushi a couple of times, and the bones have appeared at least three or four times. As far as the quality of the fish goes, it seems pretty hit or miss. I used to really enjoy the extra fatty tuna before I had a particularly bad order, and then I never bothered getting it again because it's a pricey order. The cuts also do not seem to be as generous as they once were. I've continued to give this place a chance because most of the servers have been very pleasant, and I've had some nice memories here. But last week I was at this location for a celebration, and we had sushi with both fish bones and a scale attached. The sushi with the bones was comped, but the sushi with the scale was not. I think I've hit my limit with this location. I'm also surprised that they don't seem to have taken better precautions against fish bones appearing in their sushi given that this has happened multiple times. As much as I've enjoyed coming here, I'm tired of having to wonder about whether or not I'll find something in my food again. Like I said, this is literally the only sushi restaurant that I've ever been to that I've had these issues with, let alone consistently. There are other places in the area that are worth going to if you're after sushi.

I will give a balanced review though because there was good and bad. I'll start with the good: Throughout the night on a very busy night I will see if you were seated at the bar they made an effort to be very attentive to folks standing there. Also despite the rush of customers by 8p for the 9p game the staff at the bottom bar maintained a pleasant disposition. There are ample televisions and televisions outside for large sporting events. So even if you do not get a seat you will be able to see the event. Also I had a chance to speak to the manager as I was looking for seats that would allow me to enjoy the game and he was helpful in explaining my options. The not so good: I had reservations at 645p in hopes of watching the 9p game. Now I understand they have a two hour limit per table but there is a way to communicate that. I had an unfortunate interaction with the host staff as I checked in. One staff member immediately was like I see you have reservations but if you are staying for the game you'll have to leave before it starts. I was trying to ask about alternative options (such as moving to the bar) and they just were like you'll have to go. Not very welcoming. So at that point I ran into the manager who patiently explained options. He was a little more customer service oriented. Also my friend came looking for our reservation and reported they were rude to her as well. Next. It was the hottest day of the year yet and the air conditioning was definitely not working. I with many other patrons spent the evening sweltering. The folks outside in the heat were more comfortable Next I arrived around 630 for the 9 game . Around 730 folks at the bar asked if they could change the tv to the pre show for the World Cup match everyone was there for. They refused. That was disappointing for folks who were there to watch. Also during half time, instead of letting folks hear any of the half time analysis they switched it to music and their own restaurant programming. Finally the drinks were good but the food I had personally: the wings were meh. My review is I would return but not for a premier sports event. Definitely not during this World Cup. It's a sports bar but as a real football fan I would prefer to go somewhere that caters a little more to soccer fans specifically.
