She's pretty picky so we usually rotate between the same 3 restaurants because our last several attempts at trying something new had been a fail.....but I'm happy to say this place was a WIN and even picky mom approved lol. The fresh roll wasn't my favorite but that's personal preference and nothing against the restaurant. For a meal I ordered chicken pad thai with extra veggies and it was hands down the best pad thai I've ever had! Very flavorful and a generous portion. I ordered it with medium spice but will ask for hot next time. I can't remember what my mom ordered but she loved it! She doesn't eat meat and had never had Thai food so she wasn't sure what to expect; our server was so patient explaining items on the menu, making recommendations, and said they can make any dish vegetarian and substitute with veggies or tofu which was nice and left her with a ton more vegetarian options than most places in town. Wish I could give more than 5 stars! Food came out quickly and service was excellent! Plus being able to sit outside on the patio was a nice bonus! Ah the food...the spring rolls, crispy and full of flavor...just the start. The steamed dumplings were not your traditional Thai fair but tender noodle shells with a delicious filling. Our Pad Thai was a combination with beef, chicken and pork. The beef was tender and moist as was the chicken and the sauce was especially delicious. Only our first meal here, but I think it is the BEST Thai food I have had in quite a while. Yes I've found not only some good Thai food in the Winchester area but some of the best. After eating at two disappointing restaurants( pizza twist & eastern chinese restaurant on pleasant valley) i didn't have hope of eating out again since my sister suggested we go out somewhere. After looking online I found Thai lotus and it had good reviews on google & yelp so we decided to come here. The restaurant is next to a duck donut and the parking lot is big so no issue there. Upon entering you see the environment is clean with Asian umbrella decorations on the roof with a light jazzy music playing in the background. For appetizer, we ordered the crispy spring roll, shrimp blanket, and the fried calamari. The best of those three would have to be the fried calamari even thought they look like Popeyes chicken nugget. It was crispy and when dump into there sauce it was an explosion of flavor. The shrimp blanket was decent while the crispy spring roll was kind of bland. For the entree I order the pineapple fried rice. Let start off by saying you get the bang for your buck in term of portion size because I was struggling to finish. In term of taste it was good since I had flash back to when my mom used to cook tilapia for me it had a similar taste in a way season wise. This used to be our go-to restaurant in Winchester. A change in ownership has certainly changed that. We ordered our favorites, Crispy Tilapia and Crispy Calamari with crispy Basil. Unfortunately they need to remove the descriptive "crispy" from their menu. These are 2 of their Chef's special dishes and the reason we drove 45 minutes to eat here. Perhaps they should hire the old chef back for a few weeks to train the new chef how to create the wonderful dishes that used to come from that kitchen. What we received on our plates was a gloppy seafood, none of the breading had ever seen crispy, let alone fully cooked. The sauces on both dishes have changed as well. Very disappointed!!! It's a small restaurant but they're very accommodating and attentive. Our takeout orders have been prepared really quickly. The portions are generous. We've never been disappointed. We were pleasantly surprised at the quick and friendly service and special attention to me with my pepper allergy. Chef brought out our hot and delicious food and we will be back for more! This time I waited just over 15 minutes before giving up and leaving. Only one server and one person behind the bar but with only 2 other people dining, it's crazy to wait that long. The server seemed tied up taking a to go order so I was hoping the person behind the bar would bring me a water but despite having no one sitting at the bar area, they continued to just stand there. Really disappointing because I like their food but I recommend ordering to go because the people walking in for pickup get more care and attention.
