Im seriously disappointed in my haircut from Bruce. I read the other reviews and was hopeful. I wasn't even going to write a review but each time I see my hair its a reminder that I paid for a terrible haircut, which really irks me. My haircut looked nothing like the picture I showed him. I showed him a picture saying this is how I want the back. It did not come out like that. He then cut my hair fast without asking to see how I wanted each section. Please don't just assume Bruce, short haircuts are not the same as long haircuts, the shape is way more varied with short haircuts. I asked him not to cut any hair in the front of my ear, he did anyway, without paying attention. (What the hell Bruce?) He was just snipping through really fast without being careful to my preferences..The hair came out really lopsided and now I have to grow my hair out. Then I asked if he gave free bang trims here like alot of other salons in Pasadena and he said only if I like you. BRUCE, you should like me, I tipped you even though you messed up my hair. Based on customer service: I did not get a haircut from this salon due to the lack of comfort and appreciation for being a potential customer. Prior to entering the business, my phone call was being passed around between coworkers for a variety of time in which I could of found a business to cut my hair. I've learned a thing or two from groupon, so I always call ahead to make sure the stylist is available before even purchasing a deal. With that being said, I called the salon and mentioned that I wanted a short hair cut with purple tips. The receptionist stated that they don't do "purple hair." I asked to make sure I was calling a HAIR SALON, and sure enough I was. This woman was rude and seemed pretty aloof. I'm glad I didn't spend any money at this establishment. Had my hair revived through literal hair CPR by Wolfgang. I had outgrown blonde highlights with long brown roots. But hey, who didn't? Thanks COVID. Anyways, I was able to request and GET a beautiful clean cut and get rid of the drastic color contrast. Wolfgang is a hair genius. He also didn't cut 5 inches when I requested to only cut the damaged parts, a request that escapes so many other hair stylists as they keep cutting their way to bliss. My hair is healthy and shiny and I feel normal again. I will keep returning here without a doubt. read more

Bruce was wonderful! He is funny and very pleasant and really a pro. He listened to what I wanted and slowly, slowly, slowly, trimmed away until my hair was perfect. I emphasize slowly because Bruce really took his time with me. I told him I wanted to keep my hair long yet he managed to create beautiful movement and body anyway. I usually walk out dissatisfied with the blow dry and have to wait until the next day to see if I like my cut. Not this time! I love it! I want to add that I was stuck in traffic and called Bruce to let him know if be running 15 minutes late. He was lovely on the phone and told me to take my time and be careful. Even with that, and his next client waiting (I felt bad about that!) he did not rush through at all. It's street parking (no meter) and I had no problem finding a spot. The salon itself is casual/cool without pretense. There wasn't even a receptionist. I liked it. I highly recommend Bruce! read more

I purchased a Groupon for a deep conditioning and haircut. I was really appreciative that my appointment could be scheduled on such short notice. Everyone there was very friendly, and the salon was adorable and inviting. The conditioning treatment was great, especially because they put the heating cap on for a long-ish time to let it really penetrate. I've been wanting to go back to my A-line bob for a while now, but I've only ever trusted one other stylist to get it right and I was a little nervous about trying someone new. This review is based on my experience with Wolfgang. I am a very busy person so decided to call the saloon and get an appointment for the next day at 9am . I was so happy that Wolfgang could accommodate my request . I was there at 9 am and immediately been seated and after I told him what haircut I would like and showed him the photo he started and spent so much time and efforts to make sure I get what I want. He was so sweet and kind and chat with me during the time I was seating there so I was not bored at all ( I usually get bored in hair saloon as you need to seat for a long time to get your work done!!!!) For the past couple of years I have been bouncing from salon to salon with Groupon deals and haven't found what I was looking for until now. 33 North is a very upscale salon for GROWN MEN AND WOMEN! They use high end products to promote moisture, color, and healthy hair. I have been a client of Bruce's for almost 14 years. Every time I walk in, I am offered a beverage, I get a head massaging hair wash, I am engaged in great repartee and I get out of the chair looking like I am going to a Hollywood photo shoot. I have not seen a man or a woman leave this saloon with a bad color or cut. I always consult with Bruce about new style before demanding him to make my hair look like a photo... because I may not have the volume, length, hair strength, or facial structure to pull off the style. He is the professional of more than 25 years in his field of beauty and I am the professional in my field of Nuclear Medicine and Radiological Science for 18 years. He can't tell me how to do my job well and therefore I don't try to tell him how to do his. There is an old saying, "You stay in your lane and I'll stay in mine". Go sit in Bruce's chair if you want him and his sweet and smiling face Assistant to be treat you right and make you look good, but don't if you want to take advantage of him. SO PLEASED WITH MY CUT AND COLOR! i did the groupon deal ($99 highlights, cut, blowout) and booked with Brandie. I called on a Monday and was scheduled for the very next morning. My hair was originally lower than mid back length, I had 7 month old ash caramel balayage highlights, and overgrown layers. I wanted a long A-line cut with a biscuit balayage. I showed Brandie the cut and color, AND SHE NAILED IT. Not only that, but she was very accommodating to my requests and concerns. I have an underlying red tone in my face, and I was worried that the warm colored highlights would make me look more red. By mixing two colors, she was able to match the highlights perfectly and made sure the highlights complimented my skin tone (eliminating redness in my face). Visited the salon for the first time a few weeks ago and absolutely loved my experience. Very cute set up! My stylist Chelsea, was so sweet and did such a great job. I can only use specific products with my hair (doctors orders) and Chelsea was able to accommodate. She was very knowledgeable when it came to explaining what my hair needed, and introduce me to new products that I now love. I was also on a time crunch and Chelsea was able to deep condition, cut, and give me a new style, with time to spare. I couldn't be happier with the results. The salon is beautiful inside, it's comfortable has this beautiful vibe with exposed bricks and this little garden behind and these incredible windows. I've followed Patty here. I have been going to Patty for 17 years. So a review of her is long overdue. While I did move far away for a bit, I'm back now and she is still as amazing as ever. I have sent her several friends and my entire family in the time I've been going to her that's how much i trust her. And she has done everything for me- cuts, color and Brazilian blowouts. She still does my mom's and some of my girls and has even cut my brother's hair, all of my nephews and my niece's hair and my sister in laws! To say we love her is putting it mildly. I booked an appointment with Wolfgang after finding the salon on Groupon. FYI- Wolfgang is usually booked 2 months in advance, but it's worth the wait. I bought the groupon for haircut and full highlights because my hair was a total mess. I have long hair and it was bleached and damaged from the sun and I hadn't had a cut in a few years. My appointment took a while because my hair was so long but Wolfgang and I had a very entertaining conversation the whole time and he also didn't try to cut off more than necessary when I told him I wanted to keep it as long as possible. He is truly a master of his craft. I always get nervous letting a styling cut and color my hair for the first time, but Wolfgang really knows what he's doing. The treatment way great but it went all down hill after that. Bruce cut my beloved hair he asked me how would I like it I said just a trim 3 inches MAX (my hair was VERY LONG , AND ONE LENGTH) so he turns my back away from the mirror and starts cutting when he was done I looked into the mirror and my hair was SHORT WAY MORE THAN 3 INCHES AND IN LAYERS I was trying so hard not to cry but my heart was really broken (and I know it's just hair but my hair has never been short) I got home and called the salon and asked if I could speak with the owner of the place and Bruce pretended to be the owner which only angered me more over all TERRIBLE PLACE DIDNT EVEN LISTEN TO WHAT I ASKED FOR!!! read more

About a month ago, I bought a Groupon coupon (for a haircut and highlight) and I went to this place for the very first time. I like the way Wolfgang cut my hair. It fits great on my face. He is very friendly and open to the ideas. We talked and had good conversation during the time I was there. In addition, I should mention that he offered a free blowout even if it was not included in the coupon, so I was excited to see the result right after. I gave my experience four stars because my highlight is not noticeable (in terms of volume and color.) In other words, no one notices that I have highlight on my hair :D. Maybe it is because it was a Groupon coupon, so the highlights were limited and maybe we did not select the color right, but I wish it was more noticeable. read more

I was impressed that I was able to get in with Bruce so quickly. Bruce is a super nice guy and professional. Before we got start I was very clear my hair grabs the red and that I did not want red or orange highlights. Bruce said, it was not a problem and that I would have blonde highlights. Waited two days to wash and highlights have a brassy tint. They are 1/2 to 1 inch from my scalp and sides are not even so I cannot pull my hair back. My hair was all one length he said it would look fuller with a layer - again I was very clear that I do my hair every other day and it is a I wash and go. I now have a 2 1/2 to 3 in layer in the back that looks STUPID! You should always go with your gut feeling when it comes to your hair. Called Bruce, who was sorry, but it was blonde when you left. Lets just say NO it was not. I had blonde in the front which he combed straight back. Said to come in and he would tone the red color down. I do appreciate that, but if you cannot get it right the first time !!! I do not have time to drop everything for another 2 hours to correct what I thought was clear from the start. As for the back of my hair well it looks like crape.... The deep conditioning was great. I am disappointed that my hair is brassy and I have a chunk cut out of the back. Darn!! read more
