Really wanted to like this place. The location is beautiful and theres plenty of parking, and the staff was very friendly however on my visit- - 40 minutes for appatizers -60+ minutes for food And then the steak. Oh my lord. How can you charge $25 for 5-6 slices of burnt steak and some fries. You can make this meal at home for $10. Overall its a nice place, perhaps come for drinks, but not for the food. What a lovely restaurant to have at the base of a fantastic hotel. We have come here a couple of times now, when we stayed at the Origin and also now we have moved over here. As a vegan, the cauliflower is always a knockout with such fantastic flavor and incredibly well cooked - a definite must. My husband raves about the smash burger - very flavorful and moreish. Fries are a no brainer. The staff are always excellent and very welcoming, knowledgeable and sweet. I love their cocktails too for just a stop in to have a quick drink. read more

I was excited to try this place, but unfortunately was very underwhelmed. We were there for bunch on a Sunday and it really felt like the brunch was an afterthought. Everyone was prepping for dinner (or something) and taking care of the brunch crowd was just an extra choir. The food was average at best. I ordered country ham, which turned out to be city ham, which wasn't even an option. My wife ordered chicken and waffles with extra crispy waffles. She get extra crispy chicken and limp waffles. Maybe the whole brunch thing is new and they just don't have it down yet, but we probably will not be back. read more

I had dinner with my family last night for the first time and while the service was amazing (our waitress was great), the kitchen couldn't get it together and we were the only three tables seated. We had 11 people and everyone but two people Had salads and two of those people had to wait 10 minutes after everyone was served for fried chicken salads which had horrible ice berg lettuce. One salad (the pear) they forgot every ingredient in it so my sister in law had to tell the waitress to bring all the ingredients. Finally the restaurant is nicely decorated BUT this my view the entire dinner, the kitchen. We had to listen and watch the kitchen staff do the dishes all night long. Nice space and friendly service. The food is seriously lacking. First, why do you have items listed on your in house menu and online if you don't serve them? We partly chose this restaurant because my mom wanted the summer salad. She couldn't get it because, "it's not summer." You should print some new menus for the rest of the year and update your website. Lamb ribs were okay but need some kind of sauce or something. The collards were in a strange sauce that wasn't very appealing. Salmon dish was actually pretty good. The pork osso bucco was bad. A big chunk of meat with no seasoning, sauce, or flavor. There's got to be pan drippings or a sauce to give flavor to the plain pork. The grape tomatoes and heated pickled pepperoncinis were afterthoughts thrown on the plate for color I guess because they don't go with the meal. I understand why I've never heard anyone talk about this place. It seems like a substandard hotel restaurant designed for breakfast for hotel residents. 90$+ for a meal without drinks including tip when you'd be better off going to a local place and saving 20-30$ for good food. read more

Had dinner with friends at 33 Staves last week. We were investigating whether to book them for a group dinner for 15. We won't be. Service was lackluster: no drink orders were requested; no water refills were offered; brought us a jug to pour our own when we asked; said she would check back with us check on the quality of our meals, but never did. Our shared appetizer of chorizo fritters was bitter over fried cornbread with no sausage included. The group took a bite or two and left them untouched. Waitress didn't ask why. One friend's salad was bitter greens and no dressing. My mustard greens tasted like very heavy raw mustard; couldn't finish them. My one little piece of catfish was not fresh, was not thick, and was over fried to be very dark brown from the fryer. One friend's shrimp boil was tasty, but was a pitiful small serving, with 3 little pieces of corn that didn't equal a half an ear, but had lots of potatoes! Cheap in every order for very high prices. The orders were small. The food quality wasn't fresh and was poor. The food was all over cooked. The spicing was all very over done. The kitchen is obviously not skilled, or doesn't take time to care. Test failed. read more

This is the kind of review that could become 4- or even 5-star after another visit. I brunched with a group of friends on a Sunday, and there were maybe 3-4 total tables occupied at any given point during our meal (which you'll see in my pictures), so by no means were they busy. Our server wasn't too jazzed about being there, but she was nice enough and fairly accommodating. My barometer for any 'first brunch' somewhere is the Chicken & Waffles ($18). The big portion was fair for the price, but the waffles - while tasty - were blue and a bit dry; I'm assuming they were made with blue cornmeal based on the texture and appearance, but it would have been nice to have that listed on the menu. I don't like surprises. The chicken was excellent, tender and juicy, just like it should be, but the 'bacon maple sorghum syrup' was downright disgusting. Skip it and ask for a cup of regular syrup, which really helped with the dryness of the waffles and elevated the flavor of the chicken. One friend ordered the Cat Head Biscuits & Kentucky Ham with chorizo gravy ($12), which they liked, but I thought the portion (three) may have been skimpy for the price. Another ordered the Skillet Berry Pancakes ($12), the taste of which also received praise, but for three pancakes once again the price was a little steep. Yet another ordered the Chorizo Fritters ($10), which comes with ~7 and makes for a great shareable; they had no complaints. All the ladies in the group ordered Bottomless Mimosas ($20), which weren't listed anywhere, unless I totally missed them on the drink menu. Two of us did it the correct way (with the juice on the side) and felt it was a really good price for the quantity. My individual bill for the C&W and BM after tax and tip came to just under $50. I thought the overall atmosphere was very open and inviting, but I wish our server had been a bit more enthusiastic and that some of the thought processes behind the dishes were either explained - on the menu or by the server - or improved upon. read more

Stoped in for a drink and desert after dinner to see what this place was about. Parking was easy compared to most other places in the summit. We walked in and went straight to the bar since we didn't plan on being there long. After looking over the drink menu which has prices that are typical for a nicer place I decided to go with the flight that they were offering that night of 4 different types of knob creek. When going out this bourbon isn't something that I would typically order so offering it in a flight was nice. They said that this was their first time doing flights and that they might start offering them every week. The bourbon menu has some good choices when available and pricing isn't that bad with the exception of a few. They offer about 4 different desserts but the seasonal cobbler caught my eye. It was one of the best cobblers that I have had out at a restaurant. They offer food that most if not all of the ingredients are sourced from local places. This is a great spot to come and get a cocktail and I will definitely be back to try the food. read more

The server was great! The ambiance was nice, clean & open. The chorizo fritters were dry, thank god for sauces. The flatiron steak was over cooked & mostly gristle. The burgers were nothing special, fries were good. The best thing we ate was a grilled cauliflower appetizer. The menu was small. Drinks were unusual but ok. Restrooms were clean. Great addition to the summit. A little to much lighting in the restaurant for drinks but very pretty hip place. I think we ordered everything on the appetizer section. Loved the crab cake, the caprese salad, the corn soup, and the grilled cheese and did not care for the chorizo fritatas(tasted like hush puppies) , French fries( not crispy) the charcaturie board (sale nuts and dry meats) or the chocolate chip cookies(tasted old and bland). The drink selection is unique and very good though. I gave them a 4 because the service was good and the corn soup was amazing plus I would try again. read more

Unfortunately we were pretty disappointed with our food. My harvest bowl was almost entirely just kale and 5 pieces of sweet potato and so soaked in this salty sauce that it was nearly inedible- there was a huge pool of it at the bottom. The chicken sandwich my fiance got was good. We would consider coming back for brunch as it seems that is a better meal to visit for. read more
