After driving around in circles for several minutes with a friend wanting to get a late night snack, we eventually gave up. There were no tacos to be consumed and there was no ramshackle chinese/asian takeout still open in Brooklyn's chinatown area. So... we came across this meat on a stick truck. Every meat stick is pretty much less than $2-3 so you can have a meal here easily for like $5-6. It was pretty sanitary and clean. I went with the Beef, Lamb, and a fujian bun. The last I think I was hoping in a perfect world it was just a meat bun. But it was more like a salty sesame bun cut into pieces and toasted to a crisp on a stick. I could live without having that again. The lamb was probably the best and most tender but everything was a little chewy and well-done. Good spicy seasonings. But overall, probably the fish balls that my friend got are probably the way to go.

You can smell them from miles away! Just kidding, maybe two blocks, but thats far enough! The aroma of their special seasoning is the bait, the hood of your jacket hooks on and then the smoky charcoal grill wheels you in. There wasn't a time we couldn't help but stop to get a stick....food on a stick for a dollar. Opens late into the evening and still lots of people waiting for a snack. Fishballs, squid, wings, chicken, lamb, tofu.....you name it!

This is my favorite food truck that's cheap and worth it. They have the best seasoning and sauce with the skewers, although it can be a bit salty at times. I always get the fish tofu because that is the best. It'll take more than a few skewers to really fill your belly, but if you're just looking for a quick, cheap snack, this is the place.

Quick fun snack skewed on bamboo stick. There are few bbq carts near by so I decided to try their squids because the other competitors didn't have it. They had three different squid snacks: whole squid, tentacles squid or small squid. The lady suggested small squid because it has more flavor, but I decided to get an order of whole squid and one order of tentacles. She asked me what level of hot seasoning I preferred. The squids were really good and well seasoned. I think they were fried since it was crispy outside and tender inside, but it was surprisingly not oily. The prices were normal like other carts, but portions seemed small. I ate them within 1-2 minutes. Were those squids really that good or I was really hungry? I will definitely try it again.

I ordered two big squid from this place and specifically ask them to go very very light on the spices. And let me put it this way, I had to wash my mouth with cold water for three whole minutes to get rid of the spices. I felt like Jesus is coming to get me.

    skewered meat on a stick

I ordered a barbecue and found such a long hair that I lost my appetite in an instant. That's disgusting. And ordered a little spicy, but also so much chili.

If i am craving of bbq.i will go for this little bbq truck always.goos flavor.but usually they only open at night time.keep this in mind.

Nice flavor. Always want to order some bbq and go whenever you pass by.because it smells really good. Most of time they only open at night time. It is a food truck so don't expect high quality of sanitary conditon.but for the deliciousness.still give them a 4 stars.

This skewer place usually has a bunch of people waiting for it. The wait can get long since there is only 2 people working the cart. It's a lot easier to order of you can speak Chinese. When you order make sure you remember you order number. The meat and vegetables itself is really good. The flavor is almost as good as the skewers I had in Shanghai. I would definitely recommend getting your skewers spicy to add the extra layer of flavor and zing.

Delicious meat on a stick. Nice to eat at a food truck that actually serves its delicious food quickly and cheaply. $5 is a large meal here. Right across the street from my favorite late night bar in the area. Open at 2:30am, but closed by 3:30am on a weekend. The marinade is cuminy, salty, and heavily savory. Lots of hoisin/oyster sauce flavor. It's slightly different spiciness and etc. for each item but roughly the same base. Fish balls are perfect. Spongey and a snap when you bite through them. Mild flavor. Fujian bun: had the flavor profile of brown savory chex, grilled brown bread, seeded bun, crispy and oily/salty. One of my favorites. Bacon and mushrooms: chewy and delicious, soaked heavily in a strongly savory sauce. The mushrooms are quite chewy, similar to canned wheat gluten Rice cake: As expected. Dense and chewy. A brick of MSG and stodge. The marinade doesn't penetrate very deeply, so it's a little mild inside. Prawn: Very mild. Tasted fresh and good, but the flavor stays on the shell, makes the meat itself pretty simple. Way better executed than you'd expect for 2am cart food. Shrimp was still moist and had a little bbq flavor on it. Sausage: are tiny little lap chong, sweet and red/purple. The skin snaps. Not much marinade. Less plump, less sweet, purpler, better glaze/sauce, better overall, and saltier than the BBQ place on the opposite corner.

Fun snack to have on the go or you can sit as they have stools available. Spicy does have a kick to it. Everything has great flavor to it.

I had a grilled skewer craving so I decided to pick a few up at this cart. I had the mini sausage, bacon and mushroom, seaweed, cauliflower, eggplant, chicken gizzard and lamb. The mini sausage had a sweet taste to it. The eggplant was too soggy and there was no seasoning. The chicken gizzard was too chewy. The bacon and mushroom had a very barbecuey taste, like you could taste the smoke in it from the grill. The lamb was okay, nothing special, but it was seasoned nicely. The seaweed was a big mistake, it was had a kelp texture, it was weird and I didn't like it. They have menus in english and chinese and they speak mandarin and english.

    They are back!!

The food was very fairly priced and the portions were huge. We got the pork soup dumplings, pork fried rice, szechuan chicken (which came with white rice), and pad see ew (which though not listed comes with pork, chicken, and shrimp). Everything was solid, but our favorite was the fried rice which had a ton of flavor. I liked the veggies that were in the chicken dish but there were just way too many of them compared to the chicken and I wasn't crazy about the sauce. The pad see ew wasn't made the traditional way I've had it with soy sauce and oyster sauce. It had some sort of orange sauce that tasted closer to a sweet and sour. It wasn't bad it was just not what I was hoping for. The soup dumplings were solid, no complaints there. And the fried rice was great, lots of flavor. Overall, I liked this place especially for the price but I'd probably order different things if I went back.

I found parking down the block and walked over to the restaurant. It seems like more of a delivery spot because there was no one inside sitting at any of the 5 tables. It's a fairly good size space, very simply decorated, mixed with a cool wall resembling a curio cabinet of treasures. I chose a spot in the middle and went to the restroom which was clean and simple. I noticed there were a lot of takeout orders, from delivery services to local folks picking up their regular dinner. I looked over the menu and decided on salt and pepper wings and an order of shrimp. Fried Rice came out first and it was delicious. I even tasted a hint of salted egg yolk mixed into the egg mixture friefried up with the rice that signature crispiness with the little saltiness.... fantastic. The salt and pepper wings were different than the ones i'm accustomed to though the flavor was amazing. It didn't have the fried garlic, peppers, chilis, and onions that i'm accustomed to being in the dish. They were still flavorful, juicy and crisp and I could tell they cooked them fresh. That was much appreciated. I ended up taking half of my food home because I was stuffed.Thank you Msm Ellen and the Crown Garden crew for a tasty solo dinner.
