Sunday, May 17th, I found myself in downtown Auburn, after visiting old town"s vintage and antique pop-up. I walked into the store and thought-wow great merchandising! I walked around for a bit and thought what a great store. It did not seem that there were any employees there. I walked the length of the store (about 5 minutes) and found that there was a young woman at the counter. This person did not greet me, or acknowledge me in any way. They saw me, and obviously heard the click of my boots on the tile floor, they then looked me and went back to clipping their toenails(?) I asked if this was their store. They said "What?" I repeated my question, and they said "no." and I said "It shows because you did not welcome your customers." And she proceeded to say "You are welcome to leave!" And I did. There were three things I would've purchased, (their prices are pretty good), but not on that day and not with that person behind the cash register. I spoke to another shop owner in town and they mentioned that they were saddened by my interaction because apparently the owner is a very customer friendly person. It's on Lincoln Street in the heart of Downtown. Street parking or a lot up the hill. It's the cutest shop!! Think brick walls, and lots of character and built in shelves.... Treasures both old and new. A great collection of vintage pieces and vintage feeling pieces. I was happy they were in Fall mode instead of already having everything Christmas out. It was beautiful and warm for autumn. They have classes and I hope to take one. There was a selection of paper ephemera for crafting, home decor, fragrances and more. Definitely worth a visit. I went in thinking I was grabbing a slice of pie and walking out. That plan lasted about 30 seconds. They had samples everywhere, and every time I turned around I found something else I wanted. We ended up leaving with a Dutch apple pie slice, Marionberry pie, Triple Berry pie, peach cobbler, chocolate-covered gummy bears, a chicken pot pie... and I'm pretty sure there was more because by then I had lost track. My friend wasn't even shopping anymore. She was throwing stuff into the basket like Jordan shooting a fadeaway. I swear I heard her say, "Count it!" once or twice. The staff was awesome. Super friendly, happy to answer questions, and the whole place was clean and easy to walk around. Whether you're looking for pies, snacks, gifts, or just want to wander around for a bit, you'll probably leave with more than you planned. The shop is smaller than my local Dollar Tree but still had enough inventory to make it a worthwhile shopping experience. Plus they had plenty of shopping carts, but they can not be taken out of the building. They have a long pole on them that prevents them from fitting through the door. Did I mention that most everyone else there was white in color? As i finally received my sandwich, I went to the self checkout to pay for my sandwich.
