I've visited 4 Birds in the Garage as well as enjoyed their cookies at other local establishments. They make a delicious blueberry ginger cookie with oatmeal that's gluten free and vegan. I believe it's the only gluten free and dairy free option, but it's a good one. (If you're only gluten free, you have more choices!) The staff at the Garage location were super friendly to me and my mini BFF when we visited. And for less than $5 we got a hearty cookie to split. I'll look forward to my next one! read more

Finally tried this bakery as a friend treated me to coffee. I was convinced by the baristas to go with the Salted Honey latte which the syrup is house made. DELICIOUS. The first time I had it hot. I know the economy is in s**ts however almost $10 for a small latte is a tad pricey. I'm used to $7-8 for a flavored latte with oatmilk. That obvi did not stop me from returning to try the cold brew. They're local. Friendly/welcoming (shoutout to good customer service in 2026 ‍). Clean & yummy. So happy to have 4 Birds in The Garage! Their space is well stocked and fits into the flow of the food hall nicely. They offer a variety of treats and baked goods from cookies (including gluten free options!) to cake to kolaches. Try their spent grain crackers and house made granola too! The had one which was Chicago dog inspired but I chose the apple which I warmed up this morning for breakfast. So good! Light and flaky with sweet apples in the center. I first heard of 4 Birds when a friend raved about their Farmer's Market breakfast sandwiches, which are unique and incredibly delicious. Now they have a retail space in the Garage Food Hall that I recently checked out for a Yelp elite event. The space is beautiful and has a really nice sized area with tables and chairs. The menu seems geared mainly at coffee and baked goods. There is a breakfast wrap, but no sandwiches. They do have a nice selection of interesting cookie flavors and gluten free options. I was given 3 complimentary cookies including salted chocolate chip, mint fudge, and oatmeal maple pecan. I purchased a peanut butter cookie and chocolate fudge cookie. Sadly, I found the cookies disappointing. The oatmeal maple pecan was the best one. The others were lacking a bit. Almost like they are trying to be a healthier cookie, but not super tasty or healthy. The salted chocolate chip was not as soft as I was expecting ,and I did not think it was chocolatey enough. The peanut butter cookie had a nice texture, but could have been more peanut buttery. The chocolate fudge cookie almost had the texture of a no bake cookie, but not as satisfying. It did seem to have a hint of maybe coconut, but it was not very chocolatey. Overall, I think the space is adorable. It would be a great spot to meet a friend for coffee or grab coffee if you're in the area. Perhaps some of their other pastry items like muffins or coffee cake are better, but I'm not sure the cookies are worth the 4.25/cookie price plus the cost and trouble of finding parking. read more

All around Indy, I've seen 4 Birds Bakery goodies posted up at farmers markets, coffee shops and the like. I've eaten my fair share of cookies from 4 Birds Bakery purchased at these various establishments, but today was the first time visiting their bakery/retail shop on Fulton Street. It's a small and modest joint. To be honest, you'll probably fare best if you order online and visit their shop to pick up. That way, you are ensured that you'll get the things you want. I visited for a Yelp event (and got a cookie butter donut focaccia), but I also left with a loaf of milk bread. The last one! How lucky. I used this milk bread later in the day for the most delicious French toast I've ever made. It's a giant loaf that makes at least 16 slices. I also tasted some 4 Birds spent grain crackers, made from the spent grains that Guggman Haus Brewery uses to make their beer. The crackers were delicious -- dotted with sesame seeds and poppy seeds -- and they made me search up recipes for how I can make my own spent-grain crackers. I love that, with just two of their items, 4 Birds inspired me in my own kitchen. The parking situation here is a little rough, but I managed to find a place to park easily when I visited on a weekday. The owner and people who work here are super friendly and passionate, which doesn't surprise me because I can taste that dedication in their creations. read more

I would describe the ingredients used to make the brownie as more natural and minimal compared to most brownies. Unsweetened chocolate, vanilla and Indiana coffee are three ingredients listed on the back. Mike greeted me and told me about 4 Birds Bakery, where they distribute their products and that they plan to open a full retail spot soon. I will be visiting that retail spot when it happens! The focaccia donut was a delicious Yelp specific treat! Fluffy, soft, and wonderful flavors. I got the sea salt chocolate chip cookies and it might be one of the best cookies I've ever had. In my top three list of best bakeries in Indiana. Their selections are quality, thoughtful, and always consistent. My favorites/go-to items are their sour cream biscuits, chili crisp, sesame spent grain crackers, and ramp scone. The chili crisp is the best I've had, and I've tried a lot. They carefully craft it by cooking each ingredient to its optimal state of goodness, then they combine the ingredients forming a melodious, well rounded flavor. The chili crisp atop their biscuit is a savory treat I always crave. The crackers are always crisp, never stale. Perfect for any dip or even on its own. The ramp scone is not in their everyday options, but it's worth a mention. Consistency was perfect and not dry. On Saturdays they can be found at a local farmers market. In the winter I discovered them at the Broad Ripple farmers market. read more

Okay, so the basics. 4 Birds Bakery is locally owned. Jenna Unrue is noted on the website as being the founder. You know you have a more socially responsible bakery when leadership team titles include a Sustainability Director. 4 Birds Bakery is, you guessed it, a bakery. They range from wildly decadent to vegan (don't attack me. I'm not saying vegan can't be decadent). They have a bakery on Fulton Street near downtown that has limited hours - I believe it's pick-up only, however, i haven't picked up so I don't actually know. You can find 4 Birds all around town. I found their cookies most recently in The Best Chocolate in Town at the Fashion Mall. They have about 40 retail spots in Central Indiana. If you have a sweet tooth, you've probably enjoyed 4 Birds without even knowing it. 4 Birds offers various bars, breads, crackers, brownies, cookies, granola, and more. You can find them at farmer's markets and you can order online (I mean, seriously. The website is amazingly user friendly). The prices are surprisingly affordable for a truly indie bakery devoted to sustainability and supporting local. A lot, almost all, of their vendors are actually local including Sun King Brewery, Tinker Coffee, Doud Orchards, Maplewood Farms, N.K. Hurst Co., and Cash & Carry Paper. I've tried both the chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies. I'm anxious to try the peanut butter/chocolate chip combo cookie and I'm dying to try the brownies. That will happen soon. Now that I finally discovered 4 Birds, I look forward to patronizing the over 40 local businesses who carry their baked goods. Win/Win. Sweet. read more

I happened to be at 4 Birds for an event and my husband and I bought some additional yummy treats. We bought English muffins, spent grain crackers, and salted chocolate chip cookies, and tried their granola and sour cream biscuits. Let me tell you something: we didn't have a single thing we wouldn't eat again. The cookies were that perfect blend between crunchy and chewy. The biscuits - usually biscuits are dry but this biscuit is out of this world. The English muffins are great - they're not your traditional English muffin with large air holes, but they're absolutely delicious. The granola was crazy good and I'd eat it every day. The spent grain crackers are perfect for any snack or charcuterie. 4 Birds is mostly wholesale, but you can totally buy stuff there, and they even have gluten-free cookies. And they don't use any preservatives, so whatever you buy, you'll want to eat soon....and you'll be healthier for it. Finally, everyone there was so nice and we just loved it. I everything about this place. I've had the joy of meeting the owner, Jenna, a few times. Her husband Steven makes delicious, unique breakfast sandwiches at the Garfield Park Farmers Market during the summer. The desserts are always high quality and yummy, and I have to stop myself from buying everything! They also have a good amount of GF options, which makes me happy for my GF friends. What a cool bakery, located in a converted.. warehouse? Very clean and modern industrial feel, it smells amazing! I purchased salted chocolate chip, sourdough biscuits, a brownie, and a blondie. Everything was delicious! The bakery is family-run & owned, I had the pleasure of bumping into the owner and her mom & grandmother. Everyone who works at the bakery is incredibly kind and helpful and the tastes are homemade but better. So good! There is parking directly in front of the shop, but it can be a little confusing on the first visit. Recommend visiting, I will certainly be back when I'm in the city! read more

Mixed up my days for a Yelp event and showed up here on a "normally closed day of the week". The owner's father happened to be stopping by and unlocked the door to let me in. Very nice space, walking up a short set of stairs it seemed as though I was walking into a grand kitchen of Willy Wonka fame. I ordered a variety of baked goods online for my mom's birthday, and it was all a hit! I picked them up at their downtown distribution center. I hadn't yet gotten the confirmation that they were ready, I was maybe 20-30 minutes early before I asked for them, but I stopped in just to check, and they were just finishing them up! It was fun to get a peek of their operations and the staff was friendly. When I walked back to my car I realized that one of my items was wrong, so I went back and they quickly swapped out the blondies for brownies and were super apologetic. The salted chocolate chip cookies were everyone's favorite, incredible. Next were the brownies, solid and extra good if you melt in the microwave for a few seconds. Our least favorite were the blueberry ginger cookies. We all liked the flavor, but the oatmeal/grain texture was hard to compete with the non-GF cookie. I'd love to try that flavor in something with a different texture like a muffin. read more

Lord. Time and time again I'm amazed at both the absolute FRICKIN deliciousness and creativity of Jenna at 4 Birds Bakery. This visit was a specialty pie day POP UP and she did not disappoint. You can find 4 Birds Bakery products all over the city, her infamous peanut butter chocolate chip oatmeal cookies are well known and her lovely english muffins and just divine, but if you've ever been blessed enough to make it to a pop up you get what I mean, but back to pie day. This delicious hand pie (think hot pocket or a calzone of sorts), was stuffed with a scrumptious filling of black beans, chorizo, eggs, cheese and paired with a bowl licking salsa crema sauce. Not only is her food ! Jen is one of the most authentic sweetest people you've ever met, and really creates a warm personal experience when you come into her shop. They're only open to the public for pop ups so make sure you follow them on social for those dates. Other than that head to their website to see where you can find their delicious baked goods. Three cheers for 4 Birds! I first heard about 4 Birds when local Indy author and hero John Green declared "The Cookie" the best cookie he'd ever had. I spotted their tropical blend granola at Skinny & Co Coconut Oil in Broad Ripple (the granola uses their oil!) and picked up a bag. It was SO GOOD. Too bad granola isn't the healthiest thing in the world because I would eat it every day for breakfast. Dried coconut and pineapple flakes gave it that tropical taste! I then sampled their Wee Mac cookie (using Sun King Beer) at Yelp's Beer to Bites party at the new SKB tap room in Fishers. Those samples were flying off the table, and multiple Yelpers were sneaking 2-3 samples to get their fix (you know who you are. I was admittedly one of 'em). I think they also had beer bread and it was perfection. You could legit taste the beer flavor! *My 4 Birds adventure shall continue with getting my hands on "The Cookie" (and the other flavors of their cookies - I've got my eye on you, buttery peanut butter chocolate chip sitting in those glass counters around town) and the English muffins that Allison F. claims trump all others. read more

The cookies could not have a more perfect texture and the pies couldn't be more well balanced. This fluffy, "just enough peanut butter", chocolate cookie crust pie could't have brought more smiles to Thanksgiving, if it tried! 4 Birds can be found at lots of local vendors around town, including one of my favorites Hotel Tango!
