It's really hard to go wrong here. I came here at noon on a weekday and the place still had plenty of selection, I managed to grab the last raspberry filled donut but otherwise nothing else had run out. I'm a huge jelly filled donut fan and the ones here are airy and pillowy soft with flavorful fillings. The ratio of jelly to donut was spot on and they weren't overly sweet. The filling may seem a little sparse in my picture but as you bite and squeeze the jam over the rest of the donut, it was actually the perfect without becoming a overflowing mess We did also pick up some hand pies which were waaay better than the ones at Wilson Farms on the north side. They are much more substantial, like 30% more filling with nice chunky fruit fillings. The apple chunks still had some bite to them which I loved. The black raspberry had great flavor but it was more of a jelly filling than a preserve, i wish it had more texture. Stopped by here to pick up an order for the elementary school I work at. The lady working was extremely nice and helpful. All who ate the doughnuts thought they were delicious! This place has been on my list for a while but I finally decided to make a Saturday morning trek after reading that their Cinnamon Caramel donut was voted America's favorite recently by Underground Donut Tour's Greatest Donut Contest. I picked up a six pack of donuts for myself and a jar of Apple Pie jam to give as a gift. In addition to donuts, they have cinnamon rolls and sticky buns. They also sell Amish-made jams, salsas, granola, egg noodles, cheese curds, beef jerky, sauerkraut, and applesauce. The donuts were amazing as expected. The service was good too. They were definitely busy on a Saturday morning around 8:30am. But there were plenty of staff working and they kept the line moving quickly. I've never been to this location in Greenwood, IN. They have a parking lot but also have a drive thru. We decided to walk in to order today. The store has lots of space and an area to shop for canned goods. It was very clean and they had some tables to sit at in one corner. The staff were very friendly and explained the selection of donuts clearly. I picked out a Bismarck donut which had chunks of heath chocolate on top- it was tasty and super sweet. This is a huge bakery located in Greenwood. The staff is very friendly. They have fresh pies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, danish and donuts. I got a couple of the donuts and a small pie. They were fresh and delicious. They are right in the front of the strip mall and has tons of parking available. They have a few tables inside where you can eat your deliciousness and there are a few picnic tables outside as well, if it is a nice day and you want to enjoy your treat in the fresh air. This place has some of the best donuts and the store is decent sized and packed with an assortment of delicious goodies. I was on the south side one morning, drive, minding my own business when I see this sign "Amish Bakery".... hmmm, I must stop in. The sign on the door says "Rise 'n Roll." I am the only customer here. I ease in, looking around. It smells great! The donuts look amazing. I rush up to the counter in excitement and say, "I need a dozen to take to work. Make it 13 so I can eat one on the way without breaking the dozen." I asked them to pick it all for me. They gave me a maple frosted and a mix in the dozen box. I drove off and grabbed my donut. Immediately, I had a regret. "Why did I only get 1 dozen!" That thing was great. I think the cinnamon must be the big seller. There were pre-packed boxes of cinnamon donuts in the store. I'm still thinking about the delicious "Amish crack" doughnut which consisted of Caramel icing and a powdery cinnamon dusting. I was hooked after the sample. Which brings me to my next point, I love that they offer so many fun sample stations throughout this larger than average bakery. This south side classic also offers fluffy Caramel and regular cinnamon rolls, Amish cheeses, milk, complimentary coffee (nice touch, right?), and more than a dozen types of doughnuts. We stopped by on a whim, and enjoyed our sweets. I got an Apple cinnamon donut, my husband a peanut butter filled and another with chopped nuts over the top. I'll be honest I'm really picky about sweets, especially donuts. That being said the Apple cinnamon was good (though very messy- definitely wait to eat until you get home if you get yours to go!) I tried a bite of my husbands donuts and although they aren't the flavors I would gravitate towards I thought they were pretty good and fresh tasting. The peanut butter was really sweet and tasted like it was whipped with white chocolate or marshmallow whip or something. The nuts on the crunch donut were fresh and did add some good texture. ***Update*** I messaged Rise 'n Roll and they apologized for my messed up doughnut and offered me a refund. (which I turned down since I will certainly eat the doughnut even if all the icing is stuck to the bottom of the bag) The owner, JC, was very professional and more than made up for the messed up to-go order. Doughnuts were good. Two young people working today, Saturday afternoon. They had just come back from Anderson (they told me) where they had been selling at the hospital so they were busy restocking a shelf. The first person who waited on us and got our order to eat in the store was very nice. The second person who packaged our to-go order was not friendly and seemed very burdened by us being there. (there were only two other customers in the store, it was not busy) Drove back home to Bloomington and discovered that the counter person had put my chocolate covered doughnut upside down in the bag and put the powdered sugar doughnut on top of it. All the frosting came off the chocolate covered doughnut. Probably by mistake, although difficult to tell considering her disposition when she rang up our order. The Cinnamon Caramel donut is legit! It also gets everywhere when you bite into it, so be aware that you'll have delicious, powdery sugar all over your shirt if you eat it while driving, like I did. I had a hard time choosing a donut because they all looked so good. I chose the Cinnamon Caramel because I had heard it was their signature donut, and I'm glad I did. We also got the Peanut Bismarck, which was delicious too, and topped with crunchy peanut pieces. We had kids with us, so we had to get a donut with sprinkles. We got a chocolate sprinkled donut and a caramel sprinkled donut. The kids loved them. This shop has a large assortment of pies, cookies and other baked goods. Lining the shelves are also dozens and dozens of jams, jellies and preserves. My first visit to this location although I have been a regular customer of the northern Indiana locations. I first discovered Rise 'n Roll Bakery in Middlebury Indiana years ago when I happened to be working in the area. I was very happy when they opened a few retail locations, I stopped by the Ft. Wayne location every time I was anywhere relatively nearby, and by "nearby" I mean within a 50 miles radius. I would bring boxes of donuts home for family and friends. So I was ecstatic when I heard the news that a location was opening closer to home. "Closer" is a bit of a stretch, since I actually live nearly 30 Miles from here but I do get to Greenwood occasionally. The variety of donuts here can be mind boggling, and if you come in for only one it is difficult to choose. I always get a mixed box of either a dozen or half dozen. If it is your first visit I recommend getting a dozen assorted and then cutting them up and sharing with family, friends, or coworkers so everyone can sample. There is also a huge variety of Amish jams, jellies, cheeses, pies, take-home-and-bake pies, and other goodies. Employees are friendly and will helpfully make recommendations and answer questions about the donuts and ingredients. There is a small dining area with several small tables and one long bar and benches. read more
