We did the Ghostly Galleon escape room with four people. The escape room we chose was a medium-hard level and was supposedly the hardest room that they offer. The escape room took place in just one room and I would've liked it to be more interactive with multiple rooms. It was pretty difficult and I'd recommend doing this particular room with people who are experienced in escape rooms. This was a good place with escape rooms of a range of difficulty and the themes were great.

Big props to the Puzzle Break team for allowing us to keep our time as they encountered a same day issue where one of their rooms was damaged. They handled it very professionally and we were still able to keep our time slot so we're thankful to the team. We had 8 people and surprisingly, most of us had something to do the whole time. Everyone had a part to play but some parts we partnered up to accomplish faster. Easily a room you can do with 4-8 people with moderate difficulty, with the more people making it easier. Puzzles were fun, a few challenging ones, but overall pretty linear progression without weird redundancies that can happen with some other escape rooms. This room is great to bring friends who are new to escape rooms as there are still a few surprises (not in the scary sense). Thanks to Puzzle Break for a great time! I didn't book the room so I didn't get the name of the person my friend spoke to but during our experience Neo did the introduction prior to the game and guided us on time when we asked (we only asked for one hint so there was minimal interaction on that part). We knew we had to try We decided to do the hardest room at Puzzle Break - Escape from Seattle, The World's Fair Affair We had a group of 6 with varying levels of experience with escape rooms (it was one of our friends first room while two of us have done more than 50 rooms) and the room felt perfect for the size! There were a lot of moving parts and lots to do in to this room so nobody was really standing around. We thought the room had a great balance between technology and analog. Puzzles were logical and hard in ways, but solvable and doable! We all had a really great time and got out with 16 minutes to spare! Have to buy something at the nearby supermarket to get validated parking? Not sure. - Wish they allowed each of us a prop to hold for the photo at the end. Good thing I brought my own.

My friends and I did their Zodiac room this week on vacation and it was delightful! If you read…read morethrough my history of reviews, you'll see I do a lot of escape rooms. This was a solid room. Great immersion, puzzles were all logical, nothing felt extraneous. The real thing I want to call out is our game supervisor, Margot. For some background, I do theatre fight and intimacy coordination. There is very specific language around consent and how to interact with people calmly safely. Zodiac has a very intense opening and the game supervisor has to do a lot of clear explanations and needs to physically move and place you. Margot was beyond exceptional at this. When they moved us, they were very careful but direct. Normally, you might feel a little shaky having someone else move you around, but their support was clear and direct without being forceful. I was VERY impressed by their work in this. They were also an excellent game master: clues were helpful without giving it away, they directed us back to where we needed to go if we were super off target All in all, while this room tanks towards the upper middle range of the ~250 I've done, Margot is easily one of the top 5 game masters I've ever had. They made the experience ten times better.

So, it's not the most fun, but maybe if you're a tourist and you're looking for something that will…read moretake you around to different sites around the city, this might be good for you. The questions weren't very "puzzling" - they weren't very clever and brainy which was a little disappointing. It was a little tricky clicking through the app and when to click because they give you some time to walk to places. Most of the answers were really easy once you get to the spot, but occasionally it was tricky trying to figure out exactly what answer they wanted. We actually tried this in another city as well, and it was roughly the same experience - just mediocre.

Original post: Thanks for ruining my birthday, Puzzling Adventures! I purchased the Puzzles by the Glass (21 and over) adventure for my birthday party as it seemed like it would be a fun time. What I wound up with instead is some sort of walking tour of the sculptures at the Seattle Center. It was a total snooze fest and definitely not what I wanted to do for my birthday. Basically, it has you walk from one sculpture to the next, read the plaques, and then answer a reading comprehension question for each one. Freaking ridiculous. I thought I was purchasing basically a pub crawl and thought it would be a fun way for my friends and I to go on an adventure and check out some places we might not otherwise go to. After 30 minutes of walking from sculpture to sculpture, our group finally decided it was clear they weren't leading us to a bar so I tried to call but (surprise) nobody works at Puzzling Adventures on the weekends when folks might actually be using their products so there was no way to get support to get us on the correct adventure so we chose our own adventure instead. What a waste of money (not just the cost of the "adventure", but also the $22 parking at the lot it has you start at).

There are a few rooms to go through and that was fun. They have a lot of lockers (with free locks!) Foe heavy coats/bags, etc. Some of the puzzles are different takes than what you might expect. You have "Alex" with you at all times. Sometimes it is helpful. The bad: The rooms are time gated because the group in the room in front of you has to finish or fail before you can move on. That means sometimes you wait or they give you the equivalent of busywork until the next room opens. It would be better to have optional video filler at that time. They have a lot of video sequences that don't give clues and are too long. If I am trying to figure out a puzzle next to a screen, I don't want to be randomized by a video unrelated to the activity. The rooms are pretty noisy. If you have a listening puzzle it is hard to hear. Parking nearby is spendy. The worst IMO? YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR YOUR PICS AT THE END. That really irritated me. It's not a cheap ticket and having an electronic copy of a photo should be part of the package IMO. You can also choose to tip your "Alex" at the end. They aren't the most complicated puzzles especially if you are an experienced puzzler. All of them involve tech which was interesting... The only physical locks were ones on the lockers outside. I think it may be the only escape room we've done where there wasn't a single lock to solve! We solved all the puzzles and made it out.

This place is EPIC. Seriously. The game design is top notch, the game guides actually pay attention to you when you're in the rooms so they know what you've done and tried, they don't watch several games at once, and they actually CARE if you had a good time. Prior to them arriving in Seattle my wife and I had done all but one of their games in different cities (DC, Nashville, San Francisco) and were thrilled that they came through with Cosmic Crisis, one we had not done. On top of the rooms and general customer service being top notch - the space is clean. Being in facilities both my wife and I judge places by their restrooms - and The Escape Game Downtown Seattle has consistently had a pristine restroom - and frankly? That counts.
