There is a sign in the window that says that they clean draperies. My mother was asked to sign something and it ended up saving THEM in the end. Her drapes came back shrunk with the hem missing to give the appearance as if they had not shrunk. She called and he admitted to it. She returned them to have the hem put back in, but has to donate them. The cost - over $80. She was not offered a partial refund, just reminded that she signed something (understanding the risk I guess). As a result of them trying to get over on her by taking the hem out, not putting the pleats back in (which she thought was why she was charged that amount), and not even offering some type of refund for ruining the curtains, I can't recommend them. Not sure how they are with clothes, but though they are walking distance, I question their integrity based on how she was treated and would stay away. read more

I grew up down the street from this place and have always used them. They are friendly, fast, do great work, and are very affordable! When I moved to Royal Oak, I couldn't find a dry cleaner that I liked. So I would make the drive to Grosse Pointe Woods just so I could use a dry cleaners I trusted. Today I forgot that they close a little earlier on Saturdays and got there one minute past close. They unlocked the doors just so I could get my order! This was tremendously helpful because this had all of my work clothes. I HIGHLY recommend going here! read more

If I could rate 0 I would. After hearing several people in the area complain, I decided to make a posting. The cleaners wrote in over 10 of our men's dress shirts our last name in permanent marker at the bottom. They are ruined! Most shirts were styled to wear untucked. I have never seen something practiced. Shocked they are still in business. read more

The did a great job on my cloths and even offer tailoring. I was given a vintage skirt from my grandma and it was to big by about 6 inches in the waist and she was able to make it fit perfect. The price was reasonable read more

Upon bringing it up to the lady that assisted me today, I can see that perhaps the same trait of denseness runs in the family. She said sorry in the most bothered and bored way. I just started using this place based on all the reviews. I gave them a white winter jacket that was in serious need of cleaning. The staff was nice, cheerful, and helpful when I dropped off and picked up my clothes. I picked up my coat 2 days after I dropped it off and they did quite a good job. There was a tag on it saying they paid special attention to it due to some stains they found. I had pointed out one, but they actually worked on a couple of other ones. The one I pointed out was particularly stubborn, but they at least got it to fade a bit. The rest of the coat looks great. When I picked up my jacket my girlfriend dropped off some sweaters, shirts, and pants, so we'll see how they do on those. read more

Had to pay twice for my dry cleaning. Had two pair of pants cleaned and pressed paid cash when I dropped them off. Went back to pick them up had to pay again because cashier forgot to mark paid on my receipt. Also they forgot to press both pair of pants. Terrible service will never go back there again. A couple years ago I brought pant in for a zipper repair. They told me 3 days or so and I said I needed them back in a week for an event- no worries. Called and they were ready, went to pick them up and they couldn't find them- no excuses or apologies, so I had to buy a new pair at the 11th hour. When they did turn up they called and charged me full price to get them back. Fast forward two years I had some expensive lined linen curtain panels that needed shortening and cleaning-simple right? Gave them a second chance and they sewed them completely wrong! Not shortened to specification, lining too long, and gaping. They charged me $75.00 for the job so I took them back and the second time around they came out worse!! The mgr says to bring them back a third time and take a picture like I did the first time!! No way am I getting up a d down on ladder, moving furniture, stopping before work, etc, etc, when I don't even get a shred of customer service in the form of an apology or refund offer, ANYTHING!! He said "I know she did it cause I saw her working on it" well what about workmanship dude!!! This guys a money grubber! I over heard someone complain while I was in there about how they don't offer coupons and he said he's already got the lowest prices in town. Come on grosse pointers, there's a ton of other dry cleaners on Mack! Let's demand some customer service from this man the community has been so good to all these years! read more

What an excellent place! I needed my clothes the same day for a meeting, and after driving all over Grosse Pointe no cleaners around could offer me that service. Until I ran into this place, where a young gentleman who was so polite managed to get it done for me. Even though the deadline was 11am for same day service, he rushed it through. When I came to pick up the staff was super friendly and gave me a discount for being a new customer! I have used many other places in the past but my clothes even though rushed looked flawless. They have won my business over and will be back to drop off more clothes! Would recommed to anyone read more

Took 3 tapestries to be cleaned. They lost them for several weeks. The owner called me this morning and said they found them. When I went to pick them up, it took them 10 minutes to locate them. They were going to charge me full price ($55), but when I asked if there was a discount for losing them for several weeks, they said, "OK, $50". Worse yet, they weren't clean, there were still water spots on the fabric. I bought a spot remover and just finished cleaning them myself. read more

RUN !RUN!!I this clearness damaged my $100 cream tuxedo jacket. When I came to pick it up ,it was darker a muddy looking beige. They said they would reclean it. I left the jacket there. Next time I came back it looked the same . This time when I inspected it it had black stains on near the collar. I ask the young man what is that on the back of my jacket. He said oh that must be from our machine ,when we take the clothes out sometimes that happens.was taken out. He said it would come out. I left it again. I called to speak with the owner. He never returned my call. I kept calling until I reached him Mr. Young. I shared with him all of the above. He assured me they would make it right by making sure I was a satisfied customer. Not So. Third time I came to pick up My jacket ,the stain was still there some of it came out but it was still damaged. I left it again, the owner said promise it will be ready next week. The owner called while I was picking it up the 4th time. He told the attendant that it was like that when I brought it. I makes me furious that they damage my tuxedo jacket and refuse to take responsibility for it. They also repairs some small holes in my husband Burberry sweater, the repair was more noticeable than the small holes. Awful. They do nice work on laundring shirts. Not fine garments. We were bringing about $30 worth of dry cleaning to this place every two weeks for the last year. It's a lot of business I'm my opinion. However, we will never be returning. Why? Because the last time we picked up our cleaning, we were appalled to see my wife's $90 cashmere pashmina had a perfect 5" square ripped from it. It was obviously damaged here. Obviously because it was the second time they cleaned said garment. After butchering this expensive item they simply folded it neatly and hung it to conceal the damage. Luckily we inspected it, because it could have simply been put away for next winter and we would have had no recourse. After confronting this owner he "investigated" the damage and asked his staff if they did it. He is adamant they did not cause the damage. Upon notifying us of this he was rude and unappreciative of our regular business. We will NEVER be retiring. I am opening a complaint with the BBB. read more

I've been taking my shirts there for a while and recently took a batch of shirts and one if the shirts had little holes in the shoulder. I spoke to management and they wouldn't do anything about it. I put on another shirt from the same batch of shirts same brand and again noticed little holes in the shoulder. So once again I showed them after receiving a call back several days later, I was told it must be something that I did even though I sit at a desk all day in an office. They refused to do anything about and again gave me some story about it being my fault. I will never go back there or recommend it to anyone. read more

Have been a client for years and will NOT be returning!!! Picked up my silk blouse and noticed rips on both arms. Tried multiple times to speak with the owner, who avoided me. Finally he called back and blamed the rip on sweat spots. The rips were on both arms and on the outside by both elbows. Owner refused to replace the shirt and was extremely rude. Will never go here again and am spreading the word. Will also make a complaint with the BBB. read more

I brought a new pair of jeans to Indian Village Cleaner's to be hemmed. The staff was friendly when I first brought them in, and a young man (forgot his name) told me that the regular seamstress was off-duty that day but that he could hem them for me. He said it would be a simple hem. They charged $10.00 and I tried them on right there. The young man took my measurements and said they would be ready in 2 days. When I picked up the jeans 2 days later, I discovered that they were MUCH too short...as in flood pants. I was busy the next week and returned with my un-wearable jeans about 3 weeks later, tag still attached. I didn't see the young man, but an middle-aged woman was working, and she acted as though she were inconvenienced by me returning the jeans they had botched in the first place. No smile, no 'I'm sorry", no reassurance that they would be repaired correctly this time. Instead, with an attitude, she informed me that "that didn't look like their stitching on the hem" and asked to see the tag again. When she realized that they were indeed hemmed there, she seemed even more annoyed and told me that they usually don't hem jeans in that fashion. She asked me if I knew how many inches I would need them taken down, and I said "I don't know, that's YOUR job". So I tried them on again right there in the dressing room, and she (still looking annoyed) took down more measurements. No apology for the original hack job, not even a smile. She didn't even say goodbye as I walked out. They will be ready for pick-up on Monday...but that will be my LAST visit to Indian Village Cleaners. read more
