    Chicken marsala!
    Jack W.

Well this was definitely worth the wait yall. Had dinner here a few weeks ago when my parents where in town. I knew about this place for a while but just never had an opportunity to eat here. I got the chicken marsala and glass of their house chardonnay. Both were amazing! Our server was wonderful too. Very helpful on menu suggestions and was so polite. My parents also got the house chardonnay, wish I could remember the name. My dad got the chicken parmesan and mom got the lasagna. Both were very happy with their selections. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Next time I'll definitely grab a seat at the bar so I can catch all the action! I'll definitely be back!

The overall ambiance is nice. Reminds me of an old time diner with strong college town vibes. Service was good. my review is not an indication of the service whatsoever. I am new to the area and wanted to have a valentines dinner. I was surprised to see it was one of the few restaurants that had open reservations and I can see why. In all honesty the food isn't bad but by no means does that mean it's good either. The food is priced as high end Italian however, the flavor is NOT. It is mid tier at best you would have better expectations coming from Olive Garden. In all honesty. The cocktails are decently priced, the Moscow mule was very strong, but it was much needed after trying the food. You know it's crazy when the highlight of the meal is the bread. This is straight up honesty. I'm being for real. Typically, I do my best to try to finish my food and if I don't finish anything, I'll take it to go. I really didn't feel the desire to take any leftovers. In all transparency, I could've made something better. I've eaten at many Italian restaurants and I can only say this ranks last. For what it's worth I didn't see too many Italian restaurants nearby so I'm guessing the judgement is clouded. The lemon linguine was not good at all, nor was the shrimp vodka pasta. The scallops were burnt. I normally don't go out of my way to write reviews but the expectations I had were high given it was Valentine's Day. We ended up going to Taco Bell afterwards.

Nice atmosphere, pretty decent food! We had a reservation for 2 at 6 pm, and we got seated quite quickly. Our waitress was very kind and kept checking up on us. We ordered the lemon linguine and it was alright. It had a very light lemony flavor on the sauce which was good, but I think it needed a little bit more seasoning or spice. The scallops were amazing though. Very soft and tender! Also the tomatoes had a really intriguing taste, I think they were marinated? Anyways, they also gave a good amount of shrimp and scallops. It's a nice Italian dinner spot for family, but I probably wouldn't come again.

We had a party of 10, part of our group came late! I felt so bad, I did not realized though- the restaurant stayed open until everyone left, and you could order food and drinks, it seemed like until. - they did do a last call later, but as long as you were already there, you were still able to get full service. The food was delicious; I got the salmon, I was able to notify about my squash allergy and it was no issue at all. The drinks were delicious as well! For the birthday girl, they were able to write happy birthday on a dessert plate you purchased. We sat in the outside covered section, the temperature was nice. It is a covered greenhouse type ceiling with a small water fountain. A great dinner for a small or large party.

What can I say about this cafe? The location is great, the food is good, and the service is ok. Our first time being here, but I was expecting a warmer greeting at the door. Maybe a little more "Amore", and less "Impersonale", this would help make a lasting first impression. I would highly recommend that this cafe train their staff on the true definition of scallops and not tell any vegetarian that scallops are onions, that advice doesn't bid well for specific dietary restrictions. Unfortunately, Gnocchi is only a starter, so order 2 or move on to an actual entree. The lasagna is large and in charge and will fill you up, but unfortunately, unlike an authentic Italian restaurant, there will be no bread to soak up the sauce. An espresso and vanilla creme brulee here are definitely a safe bet. Cheers!

I would compare this Italian restaurant to an Olive Garden. The restaurant was clean, well kept and the service was good but there was nothing special about the food. I was excited to hear that the pasta was homemade, but I actually think the pasta would've tasted better if they didnt make it homemade and just used high quality pre-made pasta. Sadly, I could actually make better homemade pasta myself. My husband and I ordered the Lemon Linguine and Pappardelle Bolognese. The Lemon Linguine - scallops were good, shrimp was way overcooked, and overall it was nothing special. I wasn't a fan of the Papperdelle Bologese - the pasta was too thick and the sauce was just whatever. On top of that, the prices are just way too high for the quality of food you get. I won't be coming back. I would rather just make my own Italian food at home than waste my money on subpar, expensive pasta dishes.

Bruschetta. Grilled baguette, fresh mozzarella, local tomatoes, basil, olive oil, balsamic reduction. $8.

The place was busy and had Italian music playing in the background. It has tables and booths to the side with the main counter at front and you can smell the food as soon as you walk in. It immediately makes you hungry. We were seated at a booth and offered their free focaccia style bread with an olive oil accompaniment, which was delish. The bread was hot and crunchy, but not too much where you could still dip it in the olive oil. We then ordered a personal cheese pizza, the lasagna and the chicken parmigiana (which I didn't photograph). Everything was delicious! Our waitress was very friendly and funny. I would def recommend coming here and checking it out.

The interior, however, is very casual and family friendly. I ordered a pasta dish consisting of cheese tortellini, pink vodka sauce, shrimp, and spinach. The tortellini was cooked to perfection, the cheese filling and the texture all together was very pleasing. The sauce was delicious and featured roasted cherry tomatoes, which were very flavorful. The spinach was also cooked perfectly, and complimented the vodka sauce very well. The shrimp, however, was very bland; it, strangely, was very crunchy. When eating, it almost had the taste and texture of a baby carrot. The focaccia served complimentary to the meal was delicious! It was light and fluffy. The oil and crushed sun-dried tomato served with the focaccia, though, was also very bland. This could possibly be the quality of the tomato, it may not have even been sun dried tomatoes in the oil, I did not think to ask. The food came out in a timely fashion and piping hot! The server was very kind and personable. One thing I'd like to note is that on the menu, sauce options included an 'Alfredo' sauce and a 'butter and cheese' sauce. Traditional 'Alfredo' sauce is butter and cheese, no other ingredients; so, this was a bit misleading and odd. Overall, I would recommend Magone and will be returning!

The vibes are intimate and cozy, and I'm so glad I made a reservation because even on a Tuesday night, the whole place was full, and people kept coming throughout the evening. We started with the focaccia bread, and wow, it was pillowy and melt in your mouth good. The butter that accompanies it was a warm hug that brought the whole thing together. Otherwise, we ordered a few other dishes. The waitress was really kind and helped us ensure that everything we got was vegetarian. We ordered the linguini vegetarian, rigatoni, and the gnocchi. For our entrées, he had the mafalde and I ordered the ricotta gnudi. Both dishes were delicious. We couldn't skip dessert. We shared the caramel bread pudding with ice cream and the olive oil cake with citrus crème anglaise. The olive oil cake is a must order. Because of the restaurant's small size, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan to dine in.

The restaurant sits on Franklin Street, right in the heart of Chapel Hill near UNC. It's a lively, walkable area filled with shops and restaurants. Parking can be a little tricky--we circled a few blocks before finding a gravel lot nearby (free after 6 p.m. and all day Sunday). Inside, the place had an old-school, authentic feel. The staff spoke Italian, which added to the vibe, and the red curved booths reminded me of classic pizza joints from my childhood. The menu is posted on the wall behind the counter, and you order before sitting down. We also noticed their most recent health score was a 99, which was reassuring. My wife ordered the chef's salad, and I went with the meat stromboli. Her salad was fresh, colorful, and much better than the iceberg lettuce you often get. She enjoyed it so much that she finished before my stromboli was ready. When mine came out, it was served on a pizza pan with a side of sauce--it looked and tasted great. It was also clear they do a strong takeout business, with lots of people picking up orders and the phone constantly ringing. Overall, the food was solid, the atmosphere memorable, and it felt like a local institution that's earned its recognition. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Chapel Hill.
