Enjoyed lunch here with a family member that lives nearby. Plenty of designated parking in the lot. Fine nautical themed restaurant. Great for a business or quick meeting lunch. Or like us a get together with family. Plenty of seating inside and out. Staff present and attentive. We were seated promptly and our server took drink and app orders shortly after we sat. Menu has nice variety and selection from soups and salads to surf and turf. The offered specials both for entrees and drinks. The table enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip which was served fresh hot and quick! It came with warmed pita triangles. Hubby enjoyed a Reuben that included fries. It was an average sandwich. Not bad but not the entree you're necessarily going there for. I had their Lobster Roll with apple coleslaw. It was served with lettuce and tomato on a fresh New England style roll. This was a mayo based salad. I felt it was a nice lunch portion. Could have used a little more salt or seasoning imo. The apple slaw was sweet and tangy without being overwhelming. Good crunch and flavor. Family member had the Island Burger which looked delicious and she said satisfied her craving for a burger. All sandwiches come with a choice of fries, onion rings or slaw. My daughter enjoyed from the kids menu which was a hearty portion. She had the penne Alfredo which also came with garlic bread. Wish they had a veggie with this meal but she enjoyed it. We got cake to go because it's too good to pass up! Overall a very nice lunch worth trying out.

We had a large group and service was great! Dominic was awesome and the food didn't take long to arrive. I wish he'd given us the tip about ordering our cakes in advance at the beginning of our meals, because by the time we did, several of them were sold out. I got the chicken quesadilla and it was fine, but had far too many onions. A few other in my party had minor complaints as well (shrimp over cooked, sautéed spinach too oily). I ended up getting the tiramisu and it was just okay. Hopefully I'll be able to return and try some of the other cakes!

Omg..we visited Nantucket Grill in Durham, NC on Valentine's Day..when we arrived at 6pm there were people waiting inside and outside to be seated and another line of people placing to go orders. I didn't believe we were going to be able to dine there..however we did and the service, food, drinks and dessert were delicious..when we ordered the food and drinks we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes before the food arrived to our table..the staff were friendly and cordial..unfortunately they ran out of most of the desserts..we wanted to try their bread pudding or triple chocolate cake or the banana pudding..the only dessert left was the German chocolate cake, the salted caramel cake, and keylime pie..Their prices are reasonably economical..we will definitely be back..if you like seafood and desserts..they won't disappoint..definitely give them a try.

Stopped by here for lunch on a friday and it was poppin!! We sat at the bar which was full service. Once we ordered, our food came out hot and fast! Portion sizes were good. We also got a slice of strawberry shortcake to go which was MASSIVE and so so SO good!! You can also get a half slice if you don't want so much. This was my first time here and overall was pleased!

Dad took me and his girlfriend out to dinner to Nantucket Grill one night and it was a wonderful dining experience. We went early on a Saturday night, and we did call ahead for reservations, but the restaurant did not take reservations on the weekends. When we arrived, we were lucky enough to get a table right away, so we timed it just right! I would say the ambiance of the restaurant is casual and very nice with a Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard style going on with the decor. It is very nice and comfortable. Our server greeted us right away and he was very hospitable and professional. He told us about the specials and told us if we order an entree $18 or more, we can get half off of a slice of cake for dessert. The slice of cake goes fast, from what he told us, so we had to make a decision right away. I ordered the cup of creamy lobster bisque and the New England Cod Sandwich for my entree. My father ordered the blackened salmon salad for his entree and decided to get the slice of cake for dessert for half off. He chose the triple chocolate cake slice, full size, for dessert. As soon as we placed the order, the cup of creamy lobster bisque came out within 2 minutes! It was very quick and I was very impressed! Most importantly, the creamy lobster bisque was absolutely amazing!! The flavors and taste of the soup blew my mind! It was very creamy and rich, but it was sooo good. Probably the best lobster bisque I have had in a while. After the soup came out, I would say not even five to ten minutes later, our entrees came out as well! I could not believe how quick the food came out! I was not even finished with my soup. Of course, it did not bother me, I just finished my soup and then started on my sandwich. The New England Cod Sandwich was wonderful and the fish was extremely fresh! The texture of the fish was perfect and the flavor of the fish was very good. The fresh fruit side was very impressive and fresh as well. It was a good combination of fruit from grapes, melo, and strawberries. The apple coleslaw was pretty good as well. I admit I am not a big coleslaw person, but this apple coleslaw was tasty and delicious. Overall, it was a good size portion and everything was cooked just right! My father loved his blackened salmon salad and his girlfriend loved her rueben sandwich. Next came the slice of triple chocolate cake for dessert. OMG!! The full size slice was as big as the plate itself! I was shocked! If you order the slice of cake for dessert, get the half size if you only have two people. If you more than three people in your party, then get the full size slice of cake. It is huge!!! All three of us split the full size of triple chocolate cake and it was pure heaven! The cake was very rich and moist. It tasted incredible! Of course, we ended up taking the slice of cake home since it was so huge, but it was worth ordering. Nantucket Grill is a wonderful addition to the Chapel Hill area, and I'm glad my Dad took me here for dinner because I was very impressed with the food and service. Our server was wonderful and made sure we were well taken care of the entire dining experience. When I come back to NC to visit my Dad, I hope to come back here for dinner again and try something else on the menu. It is a pure joy to dine here at Nantucket Grill, and everyone should come here to experience the food and service it has to offer. Simply marvelous!

Prime Rib special with asparagus & broccoli. Rare.

Prime Rib rare with au jus & veggies, followed up by chocolate peppermint holiday cake was an amazing dinner! This place is consistently excellent. Great service and delicious food.

We ordered for takeout. The service was great, very attentive and quick. The ambiance was good from what we could see. We immediately went home and all 3 of the cakes were fenomenal. My favorite is the Strawberry but my husband loved the Tiramisu

Found this restaurant located off Interstate 85 headed home. This looks to be a sports bar with a cute patio. We (party of 3) were immediately seated however, 3 waitresses walked past me (there were only 3 tables seated in our section ). I finally asked someone if there is a waitress here to assist us. A few minutes a waitress comes out to get our drink order. I asked her if we could order our food as well because we are hungry. Our food came out pretty fast ... Entree Stuffed Shrimp with crab meat. Tasted like it was warmed up and not fresh. Sides : Steamed Broccoli / not steamed enough ...it was hard. Spinach Risotto - I asked for this to be substituted for mashed potatoes. They eventually brought it out - very tasty!! Lemon- was not drizzled on the shrimp. My kids enjoyed their food - macaroni and cheese meal and cheeseburger/ fries meal. The waitress comped my kids meal / Thank You! I think she could tell I was disgusted. There is a small bakery with desserts at the entrance of the restaurant/ the cakes looked beautiful but I didn't want to take a chance. I tried it once but I won't return.

Outside. Storefront view from parking lot. Located in the Pinnacle building at Carolina Pointe I on Farrington Rd at 54.

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by and have become fans of this restaurant. Simply put, the food - clam chowder, prime rib, layer cakes, and more - was delicious and the service was very good. Nantucket Grill is a classic, locally-owned American restaurant that serves tasty New England comfort food in a casual, laid-back, and no-frills environment. I recommend this place. The business has been around since 1997 and currently has locations in all three Triangle cities. This Chapel Hill location opened in 2002 in the small, brick retail development known as Carolina Pointe I on Farrington Road at Highway 54. It's right off I-40 at exit 273. My wife, who works at one of the numerous UNC Health facilities nearby, told me that a lot of UNC Health employees like to come here for lunch. We visited for a Saturday night dinner when, coincidentally, the restaurant serves one of many of our favorite foods: prime rib. During our visit, the clientele heavily skewed 55+. Nantucket serves Herb-Roasted Prime Rib every Saturday after 4pm and every Sunday, all day. The Prime Rib is Sterling Silver brand. It comes in two sizes: 8 oz and 12 oz, is served with homemade au jus, and comes with two sides. My wife and I both got our own 12 oz servings, cooked medium rare, at $32 apiece. The Prime Rib was juicy and delicious. The meat was fine (taste and texture) by itself. It didn't need any au jus, but the au jus certainly enhanced the flavors and enjoyment. We requested horseradish, both the grated/grinded kind and the kind blended with sour cream. I love my prime rib with au jus and horseradish. My wife and I regularly eat the prime rib at High Point Country Club. I'm not sure where HPCC gets theirs, but we both noticed that Nantucket's Sterling Silver prime rib was chewier than HPCC's. We think the meat quality at HPCC is better, but that doesn't mean Nantucket's is bad. We both still thoroughly enjoyed Nantucket's Prime Rib and I'd gladly come back for more. Nantucket's au jus is one of the best I've had. It had a very savory, concentrated flavor. For our Prime Rib sides, we got Broccoli, Spinach, Asparagus, and Risotto. The Broccoli, Spinach, and Asparagus were all great/par for the course. You can request the Spinach sauteed or steamed. I believe the default is sauteed, which is how I had mine. The leaves were fresh, tender, and appetizing. All of the vegetables were seasoned well. The Risotto was underwhelming. It wasn't bad, but both the flavor and consistency were off. I'm not sure I'd order it again. Maybe I'll try their Loaded Baked Potato ($1.99 extra) next time. The solo diner at the table next to us got it and it looked good. I noticed the New England Clam Chowder (1 cup for $8), Char-Grilled Burgers and Sandwiches ($12.50 to $19 each), and cake slices ($9.50 each) were ordered the most. The New England Clam Chowder was outstanding. It was some of the best clam chowder I've had anywhere and that includes eateries in Boston and San Francisco. The bowl of chowder was rich, creamy, fresh, and comforting. It came with a pack of Westminster Bakers Co. Oyster Crackers. I wanted to try Nantucket's Fried Clams appetizer ($16.50), but they were out, so I "settled" for the Fried Calamari ($14.50) instead. Wow. I say "wow" because fried calamari is a pretty standard restaurant dish. Nantucket's version was unexpectedly quite good. It was battered and fried just right. In terms of flavor and texture, it was pretty much perfect. Tasty, well balanced, and soft. Not too: crunchy, chewy, salty, nor greasy. Impressive. My wife and I split an entree-sized Garden Salad ($11) and even that was wonderful. Nantucket's Garden Salad comes with mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, carrots and Parmesan-baked croutons. The restaurant has 11 dressings to choose from. We chose Honey Mustard. My wife thinks the croutons were homemade, though they didn't say that on the menu. The salad was fresh and delicious. The Honey Mustard dressing was on point. They know what they're doing here. Nantucket Grill is known for their cakes. I believe many customers will come here solely to pick up cake. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you'll see the cake display. I think most, if not all, are tall layer cakes. When we visited, they had Strawberry Shortcake (I'm told it's their most popular flavor), Triple Chocolate, Lemon, "Unbirthday" (Birthday), Chocolate Bliss, Carrot, Key Lime Pie, and Banana Pudding. They sold a lot of cake in the short time we were there. We got a slice of their Birthday Cake and a slice of their Strawberry Shortcake. Both were fantastic. I actually preferred the Strawberry over the Birthday Cake, which isn't usually the case. We got half off the cake slice ($4.75/slice) because it was Saturday when they offer a half-off slice with every $15+ entree purchase. Same deal on Tuesday. I don't think you can come here and not try the cake. Service by Crystal S was terrific. This place is a well-oiled machine.

Ask the Community - Nantucket Grill - Chapel Hill

I have not dined at Nantucket since the Pandemic. Does Nantucket still give diners a free 1/2 slice of cake on Saturdays?

    Yes!

Are your cakes made from scratch at your store?

Yes and they are amazing. You can order full sized cakes online.

I have visited the restaurant in Durham. Love the atmosphere and the ambiance. Is your Chapel Hill restaurant similar?

The Chapel Hill branch has a great atmosphere and ambiance as well ( this depends on the personal taste but I think the NG in Chapel Hill is great !

We remembered her from a previous visit, and will request her in the future. Cocktails and mocktails were excellent, as was the sparkling wine enjoyed by one of our party of six. We were surprised and delighted to see foie gras on the menu, and it was perfectly prepared, with an accompaniment of blackberry jam. The lamb belly entree was very rich, but cooked perfectly. The vegetarian plate was beautiful and delicious. Celeriac soup and beet salad were both terrific, and the barbecued shrimp were spiced perfectly. Our only letdown was dessert - only one of the 3 options appealed, so we ordered 3 of those (key lime semifreddo) and found them to be beautifully sweet/tart. We'll be back.

Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave us a rundown of the menu before we ordered. I decided to start with the Cheese Plate, which included 3 different cheeses, buttered baguette slices, jam, mustard, and pickles. I enjoy cheese plates, and this one was great, but I can understand it may not be for everyone. My wife ordered the Red Fish, which had a more Southeast Asian-inspired twist to it. It came over rice and pickled onions and beets, and the flavors were a blend of lemongrass and coconut. The fish was cooked well - nice and tender, not too dry - and the flavors went well together. I ordered the New York Strip, which was delicious - the meat was well cooked, had great flavor, and was a generous portion that was very filling. The only gripe I had was that the char on the eggplant overwhelmed the flavor, so most of what I ate tasted like burnt eggplant. The place is clean and fairly laid back for a more upscale restaurant. If you're looking for a nicer restaurant in Chapel Hill where you might spend a little more, but you'll get great service with interesting food options / combinations, then look no further than Hawthorne & Wood.

I ordered the Spicy Fra Diavolo which is a spicy tomato sauce/parmesan linguini pasta topped with calamari and shrimp. I also tried the fried seafood combination of local catfish and shrimp. The fried seafood combo was cooked to perfection. The catfish tasted fresh, without any of the fishy taste that catfish can sometimes have. The batter was crisp, while the fish stayed tender and juicy. The shrimp used for the fry were large and tasty. The pasta was the highlight of the meal, as generous heaps of shrimp and calamari paired well with the balanced flavor of the white/red sauce blend. I look forward to my next visit to Squid's. We ordered their spicy fra diavolo which was packed to the brim with calamari rings! If you don't believe me, take a look at my picture for proof. After 10 minutes of digging through the pasta, I still managed to find 10 calamari rings, lol. No complaints here though! Just surprised at how bountiful the calamari rings were for the pasta. The sauce wasn't spicy, despite the name stating so, and was sufficient to coat each strand of pasta noodle. As for our second dish, how can we NOT get fried seafood?! So, we decided to go for their combo for any two items. We were pleasantly impressed with the size of the battered catfish. It was MASSIVE! The shrimp, on the other hand, wasn't anything special. Quite small. Not really juicy. If calamari was an option for this combo, we'd definitely go for it! Seasoning was a little salty, but the breading was nice and crispy. Not burnt tasting or oily, and complimented well with the cocktail and tartar sauce. Fries were normal, but quite small in portion. For $30, I'd imagine either a little more fries if shrimps are only 6 pieces, along with a piece of catfish. Food was pretty good! I can't speak for service because I did take out, but it seemed okay. The inside was really clean and had lots of tables! Maybe I'll bring my friends the next time they come visit here.

While that spot didn't wow us with its limited menu, Bin 54 absolutely delivered. We made a reservation literally five minutes before walking in, and they accommodated us right away. The service was warm, attentive, and professional -- we felt welcomed the entire time. To start, we had the crab cakes, which were perfectly crisp on the outside and full of flavor. My boyfriend ordered the bone-in ribeye and couldn't stop raving about it. I had the filet mignon, which was cooked exactly to my liking and melted in my mouth. For sides, we shared the scalloped potatoes and creamed spinach -- both rich, comforting, and generously portioned. We ended the night with the banana pudding, and it was phenomenal -- easily one of the best we've had. Decadent, nostalgic, and beautifully presented. Bin 54 turned our last-minute change of plans into a truly memorable night. We'll definitely be back.
