[[HIGHLIGHT]]Busy Sunday afternoon. Brisk January day demands comfort food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Excellent service. I had the prime rib - served all day on Sunday. Ample portions. Delicious. But saved room for cake!

Enjoyed lunch here with a family member that lives nearby. Plenty of designated parking in the lot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fine nautical themed restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great for a business or quick meeting lunch. Or like us a get together with family. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of seating inside and out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff present and attentive. We were seated promptly and our server took drink and app orders shortly after we sat. Menu has nice variety and selection from soups and salads to surf and turf. The offered specials both for entrees and drinks. The table enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip which was served fresh hot and quick! It came with warmed pita triangles. Hubby enjoyed a Reuben that included fries. It was an average sandwich. Not bad but not the entree you're necessarily going there for. I had their Lobster Roll with apple coleslaw. It was served with lettuce and tomato on a fresh New England style roll. This was a mayo based salad. I felt it was a nice lunch portion. Could have used a little more salt or seasoning imo. The apple slaw was sweet and tangy without being overwhelming. Good crunch and flavor. Family member had the Island Burger which looked delicious and she said satisfied her craving for a burger. All sandwiches come with a choice of fries, onion rings or slaw. My daughter enjoyed from the kids menu which was a hearty portion. She had the penne Alfredo which also came with garlic bread. Wish they had a veggie with this meal but she enjoyed it. We got cake to go because it's too good to pass up! Overall a very nice lunch worth trying out.

We had a large group and service was great! Dominic was awesome and the food didn't take long to arrive. I wish he'd given us the tip about ordering our cakes in advance at the beginning of our meals, because by the time we did, several of them were sold out. I got the chicken quesadilla and it was fine, but had far too many onions. A few other in my party had minor complaints as well (shrimp over cooked, sautéed spinach too oily). I ended up getting the tiramisu and it was just okay. Hopefully I'll be able to return and try some of the other cakes!

Omg..we visited Nantucket Grill in Durham, NC on Valentine's Day..when we arrived at 6pm there were people waiting inside and outside to be seated and another line of people placing to go orders. I didn't believe we were going to be able to dine there..however we did and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the service, food, drinks and dessert were delicious[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]..when we ordered the food and drinks we didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes before the food arrived to our table..the staff were friendly and cordial..unfortunately they ran out of most of the desserts..we wanted to try their bread pudding or triple chocolate cake or the banana pudding..the only dessert left was the German chocolate cake, the salted caramel cake, and keylime pie..Their prices are reasonably economical..we will definitely be back..if you like seafood and desserts..they won't disappoint..definitely give them a try.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Stopped by here for lunch on a friday and it was poppin!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We sat at the bar which was full service. Once we ordered, our food came out hot and fast! Portion sizes were good. We also got a slice of strawberry shortcake to go which was MASSIVE and so so SO good!! You can also get a half slice if you don't want so much. This was my first time here and overall was pleased!

Dad took me and his girlfriend out to dinner to Nantucket Grill one night and it was a wonderful dining experience. We went early on a Saturday night, and we did call ahead for reservations, but the restaurant did not take reservations on the weekends. When we arrived, we were lucky enough to get a table right away, so we timed it just right! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would say the ambiance of the restaurant is casual and very nice with a Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard style going on with the decor. It is very nice and comfortable[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Our server greeted us right away and he was very hospitable and professional. He told us about the specials and told us if we order an entree $18 or more, we can get half off of a slice of cake for dessert. The slice of cake goes fast, from what he told us, so we had to make a decision right away. I ordered the cup of creamy lobster bisque and the New England Cod Sandwich for my entree. My father ordered the blackened salmon salad for his entree and decided to get the slice of cake for dessert for half off. He chose the triple chocolate cake slice, full size, for dessert. As soon as we placed the order, the cup of creamy lobster bisque came out within 2 minutes! It was very quick and I was very impressed! Most importantly, the creamy lobster bisque was absolutely amazing!! The flavors and taste of the soup blew my mind! It was very creamy and rich, but it was sooo good. Probably the best lobster bisque I have had in a while. After the soup came out, I would say not even five to ten minutes later, our entrees came out as well! I could not believe how quick the food came out! I was not even finished with my soup. Of course, it did not bother me, I just finished my soup and then started on my sandwich. The New England Cod Sandwich was wonderful and the fish was extremely fresh! The texture of the fish was perfect and the flavor of the fish was very good. The fresh fruit side was very impressive and fresh as well. It was a good combination of fruit from grapes, melo, and strawberries. The apple coleslaw was pretty good as well. I admit I am not a big coleslaw person, but this apple coleslaw was tasty and delicious. Overall, it was a good size portion and everything was cooked just right! My father loved his blackened salmon salad and his girlfriend loved her rueben sandwich. Next came the slice of triple chocolate cake for dessert. OMG!! The full size slice was as big as the plate itself! I was shocked! If you order the slice of cake for dessert, get the half size if you only have two people. If you more than three people in your party, then get the full size slice of cake. It is huge!!! All three of us split the full size of triple chocolate cake and it was pure heaven! The cake was very rich and moist. It tasted incredible! Of course, we ended up taking the slice of cake home since it was so huge, but it was worth ordering. Nantucket Grill is a wonderful addition to the Chapel Hill area, and I'm glad my Dad took me here for dinner because I was very impressed with the food and service. Our server was wonderful and made sure we were well taken care of the entire dining experience. When I come back to NC to visit my Dad, I hope to come back here for dinner again and try something else on the menu. It is a pure joy to dine here at Nantucket Grill, and everyone should come here to experience the food and service it has to offer. Simply marvelous!

Prime Rib special with asparagus & broccoli. Rare.

Prime Rib rare with au jus & veggies, followed up by chocolate peppermint holiday cake was an amazing dinner! This place is consistently excellent. Great service and delicious food.

We ordered for takeout. The service was great, very attentive and quick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was good from what we could see[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We immediately went home and all 3 of the cakes were fenomenal. My favorite is the Strawberry but my husband loved the Tiramisu

Ask the Community - Nantucket Grill - Chapel Hill

I have not dined at Nantucket since the Pandemic. Does Nantucket still give diners a free 1/2 slice of cake on Saturdays?

    Yes!

Are your cakes made from scratch at your store?

Yes and they are amazing. You can order full sized cakes online.

I have visited the restaurant in Durham. Love the atmosphere and the ambiance. Is your Chapel Hill restaurant similar?

The Chapel Hill branch has a great atmosphere and ambiance as well ( this depends on the personal taste but I think the NG in Chapel Hill is great !

Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave us a rundown of the menu before we ordered. I decided to start with the Cheese Plate, which included 3 different cheeses, buttered baguette slices, jam, mustard, and pickles. I enjoy cheese plates, and this one was great, but I can understand it may not be for everyone. My wife ordered the Red Fish, which had a more Southeast Asian-inspired twist to it. It came over rice and pickled onions and beets, and the flavors were a blend of lemongrass and coconut. The fish was cooked well - nice and tender, not too dry - and the flavors went well together. I ordered the New York Strip, which was delicious - the meat was well cooked, had great flavor, and was a generous portion that was very filling. The only gripe I had was that the char on the eggplant overwhelmed the flavor, so most of what I ate tasted like burnt eggplant. The place is clean and fairly laid back for a more upscale restaurant. If you're looking for a nicer restaurant in Chapel Hill where you might spend a little more, but you'll get great service with interesting food options / combinations, then look no further than Hawthorne & Wood.

Service was great, and I was impressed that the staff remembered a food allergy in our party. We started with the cheese board--quality ingredients, though I prefer sliced cheeses and flatbread for easier sharing. The jam was a standout! My short rib entree was savory, with tender (but not fall-off-the-bone) meat, paired nicely with roasted eggplant, green chickpeas, and a touch of sweetness from the pomegranate jus. The eggplant was more charred than I prefer, but the flavors worked well overall. Cocktails were well-made, portions satisfying, and while entrées are on the pricier side, you leave full and happy.

I think there's a sports ball thing going on somewhere, too. One person ahead of me and I gave the nice lady my order. After a nice bike ride, I stopped in and ordered their three shrimp tacos. I've had them before, but they seemed even more amazing than past visits. Were the shrimp larger? Were there more of them? (4 per taco seems about right!) It was such a lot of food (added to the hazy IPA) that I had to take the last one to go. It may last the night. Or it may be breakfast. The space has a slightly dim, intimate feel with dark red walls and thoughtful details--even the plates feel intentional. The food is the real star. We had the tasting menu, and everything was absolutely delectable, aside from the duck (purely personal preference). I sincerely appreciate the choice of vegetarian, vegan, or omnivore options for the tasting menu -- that's quite special. You somewhat go in blind as to what you'll be served, which I really appreciate. For the omnivore tasting menu, there was a lot of seafood used, which I loved. The space is modern and elegant but still cozy, with soft lighting, subtle earth tones, and an open layout that balances intimacy and energy. Service was outstanding from start to finish, attentive, informed, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. Let's get into the food, because this was one of the most exciting and consistently excellent meals we've had in a long time. We started with They Might Be Tostones, a clever and beautifully layered dish with Murasaki sweet potato, lime-pimentón crema, and chili crisp. It was punchy, bright, and balanced. The Warm Rustic Baguette with whipped butter and sea salt may seem simple, but it was divine, crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, and perfect for lingering. Dirt Candy, a medley of seasonal vegetables with toasted pistachio ail lade, was vibrant and thoughtfully composed. The Big Eye Tuna Carpaccio with red miso-citrus bagna cauda and delicate shoots was fresh and refined, with a perfect acidity and richness. We moved on to heartier plates like the Ricotta Gnocchi with Italian sausage, peppers, whipped ricotta, broccoli rabe, and chili flake. The gnocchi were pillowy and deeply flavorful. The Kabocha Squash & Farro with lump crab, pancetta, and miso butter was savory, slightly sweet, and full of texture. The Pan Roast with flounder, mussels, fregula, and smoky shellfish sugo was bold and briny, with layers of flavor in every bite. Two pasta dishes also stood out, the Ravioli di Manzo with Barolo-braised beef and Parmigiano was rich and comforting, while the Plin Piemontese, filled with pasture-raised pork and finished in crema di parmigiano, was elegant and silky. For dessert, we shared all three options and each one brought something different. The Citrus plate with steamed lemon pudding and lemon curd was light, tart, and texturally playful. The Cheesecake with maple mascarpone and cranberry compote was creamy, nutty, and not overly sweet. But the star was the Chocolate Fondant, extra dark, gooey, with salted caramel gelato and hazelnut crumble. An absolutely unforgettable finish. OakLeaf is a standout. Every dish felt thoughtful, seasonal, and beautifully executed. We will absolutely be back.
