Our first time tubing here in Texas and we had the best day!! Very convenient to book online and plenty of parking at their location. Check in was quick and the drop off and pick up to/from the river was super easy and hassle free - our shuttle driver (he was the best!) was even there to meet us as we were walking from the river to our pick up spot. Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. The float took about 2 1/2 hours - we booked the 10am float which worked out perfect for us. The water was cool and refreshing and the river is lined with beautiful trees and homes - you just can't beat the scenery. We did bring our own bungee cords to help keep our tubes together.. This place was so much fun. We originally were going to use a different company to float the river, but they had a 2+ hour long wait JUST TO GET A TUBE so this place was a life saver. At first it seemed too good to be true. Even though we floated on a seemingly incredibly busy day, it was still such an easy process. We looked online, bought our tickets, and as soon as we checked in, we signed a waiver, got our tubes, and got on the shuttle to the river. The whole thing took about 30 minutes. We even checked in 15 minutes later than the time we had reserved but we were still able to get to the river quickly. Highly recommend!! We had a great time and cannot wait to do it again. read more

My wife had used 444 Tubing a couple of time in the past, so we decided to use them again on our adult weekend getaway. Things could not have gone any smoother. From the parking ($15) to the girl in the Aggie cap helping check us in (~$60 for two to float as many times as possible) to shuttle drivers (Brian was awesome). All of it was on point. This is a family owned and run business that really tries to have the guests enjoy themselves. They have done some upgrades and renovations that are geared at making tubing more of a family oriented event. Two cabana areas can accommodate large groups of people or whole families with kids. The cabana access is for something like 10 or 12 people and comes with free grill access and 2 free tubes. There are BBQ pits that are accessible to all patrons for a fee and everyone has free access to the umbrella covered picnic tables. Guests are allowed to bring their own food or drinks and on weekends they sell Chic-fil-a. There is also a 3 day minimum Air b&b across the street that families or groups can reserve 444 Tubing is the perfect tubing experience for families that want to have a "basecamp" with amenities. There are no lockers though so consider it like the beach. You need to leave someone to watch things. The plus side is that the wait won't be too long because tubing from this spot is only 1.5 to 2 hours long making them the shortest run on the Comal River. Shuttles are provided to go upriver to the class 2 chutes. The less brave can use the venue's own river entrance in front of the chutes to avoid any possible spills. According to the owner himself, 444 is willing to work with large groups from SA and Austin in order to possibly provide shuttle service to their location. They have a handicap access ramp and are willing to assist and accommodate those with any physical disabilities. By 2019 they will be full handicap compliant with a safety ramp all the way to the water. They told me they will also look into bigger tubes for those handicapped with back or neck issues such as myself as I found out their standard tube was uncomfortable for me. Sounds like an awesome idea to provide a handicap tube. Charlotte is the daughter of the owners and she treated our group with class and made us feel at home. She and her family were awesome hosts and I think that this is their normal so give them a try if you feel like tubing, but don't want to spend 6 hours in the water. read more

I'm so happy I found this place!!! I researched all the tubing outfitters in this area for days before I decided to go with 444. Their website was cool, listed all prices and I was able to reserve our tubes ahead of arriving. They open at 10AM and the last shuttle drops off at the river between 4:30 - 5PM. The tubes are due back by 7PM. I believe this location use to be Willie's grill before. They are renovating the entire building so I hope it becomes a bar and grill or something to compliment their sitting area overlooking the river. There are restrooms and changing rooms on the first floor of the larger building which you can access from the front or side of the rear parking lot. They also have a stocked ice freezer on property and give you a complimentary bag when you rent a cooler tube. Since I reserved and completed the release form online prior to arriving the check in process was quick and simple. They gave us two bands, one for the river entrance and one for the all day shuttle. They kept one driver license as the deposit and held on to my keyfob so I didn't lose it. After that we stripped down to our swim clothes, layered ourselves with sun block, grabbed our ice, got our tubes and loaded up on the shuttle. Once we arrived to the drop off spot at the river we were handed our tubes from the trailer and directed to go through the gate to the right side of the turnstiles. Walk down the path and find a sturdy space to get into your float. The steps are covered with a very slippery algae so just take caution and be sure you have enough rope to tie your floats together because no one offered. The first of the three shoots is the biggest. Half the people tumbled out or got caught in the current for a while. I noticed people scavenging for others lost items off to the side so if you lose something you value maybe you should do the same. The entire experience was a blas overall. 3 floats down the river in 7 hours. The only reason this isn't a 5 star review is because I was disappointed in their floating coolers. They weren't inflated fully and had missing lids. No surprise that during the second float around the cooler spilled over and we lost everything. Beers, chips, peach-a-ritas and homemade sandwiches were washed away. I personally wouldn't even bother renting a coolertube next time because the floats have cup holders and there are plenty of places to exit the river and indulge. My major gripe is the logistics of their entire operation. You have to exit the river, shuttle back to the store then WAIT for more tubes and take the shuttle back to the river entrance. It took 1 - 1 1/2 hours to finally get back on the river each time. In my opinion they should have one shuttle that immediately takes you back to the river entrance and one back to the outfitter. Lost some valuable float time, food and patience but from my observation all the outfitters require you to exit and shuttle except one who has their own direct exit. Tips: Bring a waterproof bag for your phone (Amazon). You definitely need swim shoes or mesh sneakers that won't hold water. I wouldn't bring unfitted hats, Oakley's, flip flops or expensive sandals that do not completely strap to your foot. You wouldn't believe how many sets of Tory Burch sandals I saw floating down the river.. it was a sad sight. The entire river gets packed by noon on Saturday during the summer so be prepared for some up close interactions with strangers and make new friends lol. I will visit during the weekday or Sunday next time if I'm off. read more

Went here for a the tubing and river experience for the first time with my boyfriend. Pricing was reasonable, $25 that includes your entrance, tube, and a ride on a shuttle to the starting point of the river. Location was clean and had numerous tables available to relax and have a meal. I rated my experience 4 starts and not 5 for a minor miscommunication during our visit, but luckily the manager Jeremy had our situation solved and made sure to accommodate me with a smile on his face. Every employee there was nice and helpful. I would come back to this place, but be sure to come at an earlier time, we showed up at 4:20 pm and the last shuttle was set to leave at 4:45. Every once in a while a business offers such a negative experience it's worth warning others to steer clear. Buckle up, this'll be a long one, but might be fun to read / useful for you and your family. 444 wholeheartedly and deservingly earned this negative review. Our family tubes the Comal every year, and has been for 40+ years. We're Texans, and respectfully love the river and New Braunfels. I only say this to dispel the idea that we're some sort of drunks from out of state, who can't mind their manners. While tubing we all stopped at the bar & restaurant at the chute, my wife and I had a good time last there last year when it was just us for our anniversary trip. The music was too loud for grandma... and maybe for the younger kids in our group too. No harm, no foul, we packed up and politely moved on. We knew there were stairs and a sign for another place just after the short chute / rapids. We stopped in, started up the stairs, noticed the sign said "444" and from the looks of the buildings / tables / umbrellas / patio probably had a restaurant and bar. It was lunchtime, and we'd just started on the river, none of us had a drink yet... so we were looking for food and margaritas. We walked up the stairs (being careful with Grandma and the kids), set our tubes by a table on the patio and began walking towards the larger of the two buildings. Out of the other building, through an open window a lady shouts at us, "Did y'all come up from the stairs?" We turned to look and my wife said, "Yes, we're looking for food and drinks." And we all turned and walked towards the window as the lady says, "No, we don't have a restaurant." Grandma responded saying, "Oh ok, we thought there might've been a restaurant, I thought there was one here before?" The lady snapped back at her, "There's no restaurant." in a way that communicated clearly "f- off". And at this point my thought was, I'm not sure what sort of riff-raff they've had to deal with in the past, but Grandma is not the one. Apparently, I wasn't the only one with that similar thought, because our sister-in-law steps in and says... "you might want to watch your customer service talking that way to a Grandma." The lady, now with a fully amped-up tone, says "Well you can't go back to the river now, you have to exit at the street". This is where I chimed in and asked, "Did you say we can't go back to the river now?" And she turns up her tone again, with some added fun body language saying "This is private property, didn't you read the signs!" I asked "What signs?", I honestly saw a sign on the hill advertising the place of business and that's it and I told her that plainly. She said, "there's four or five of them!" I guess we missed "four or five" signs on the way up the stairs that say, private property / keep out. Could you imagine pulling off the highway with your family to stop at what looks like a nice restaurant, with a sign out front and outdoor seating (obviously private property, it's not a city park ). Only to walk in, be shouted to from across the room through a sliding window, told it's NOT a restaurant AND then told you can't go back to the highway. No, you have to leave out our backdoor into the alleyway. At this point, I asked to speak to a manager. I know it's "Karen-like", but this situation deserved trying to get someone reasonable to speak with. The lady said, "I'M the manager!" Now, I'm not sure that's true... but if it is... as a business owner I'd want to know who, why and how this review got posted. I said, "Ok, well I'll be leaving a review for y'all." She snaps back, "You're not one of our customers!" And I of course I replied, "We could've been, but now we never will." I asked her for her name, she unsurprisingly refused and then ignored us completely. So the owners know, she has a bridge piercing on her nose. It's actually kinda cool, I wish she'd remained cool. The only redeeming part of this ridiculous exchange was... as we were leaving out the "backdoor to the alleyway" a young man, not more than eighteen years old saw how disappointed and visually agitated we all were and asked what the lady said to us. I told him plainly, and he was honestly apologetic with a much kinder tone and body language. I thanked him for that, and said "I appreciate it" with a smile and we all tucked-tail and walked out to the street like we were instructed. Where we had to walk several blocks back in 100 degree heat to where we started, with Grandma, kids and tubes in tow. Not exactly ideal, to put it nicely. As we got back in the river and floated by the place later, I made a point to look for the "four or five" signs. I saw the big sign again and then... I did notice a sign at the beginning of the stairs. It was connected to a chain that was not up, but hanging behind the fence post sideways, unnoticeable and unreadable as it was mostly blocked from view. You gotta be kidding me. read more

If you're looking for a tubing company look no further - it doesn't get much better than 444 Tubing! I was amazed by the top notch service that I received here during my visit. 444 Tubing is a family run business and it really shows as they treat their customers like family. If you have any concerns about the experience, all of the staff here are extremely helpful and will tell you all you need to know. All of the facilities here are clean and they even have a cabana area that you can rent out for large groups. If you forgot something like sunscreen or need a waterproof bag to put your phone in, they have a little stand where you can purchase those last minute items. In regards to the tubing, you can either bring your own tube here or use one of their tubes. They have tubes with an open bottom as well as one with a netted bottom, and both have a little drink holder built in. The only thing is that drinks in cans/disposable containers are not allowed on the river. The float here lasts for around ~2 hours, which in my opinion is the perfect amount of time. Since the fee that you pay gets you free tubing for the whole day, you can float down the river, enjoy a nice picnic at one of their picnic tables, and then float again, which is quite a steal. They also have shuttles that pick you up at the public exit so that you don't have to carry your tube back in the Texas heat. I'll definitely be back one day! read more

Always love visiting 444 for our tubing adventures. They are always well staffed and we've never had to wait in a line. Their tubes are comfortable and reliable. Plus they offer bottom and bottom less tubes. I prefer bottom less to be able to dip in the water while still leaning on the tube for support as you float along. They are located in the heart of downtown New Braunfels so it's not too far from all the delicious restaurants for an after float bite to eat. Another bonus is the multiple times I've visited I've never had to wait for a shuttle to or from the river. They sell ice at the facility in case you need some. And they do enforce the can ban. Parking is also $10 but is right there on-site. They do have bathroom facilities as well - no porta potties! This was our first time using 444 Tubing. We arrived before 11a Friday and Saturday and were able to find parking no problem. Reasonable parking charge. Every single staff person was incredibly friendly. Bonus the area where you wait for cashiers and wait for shuttle to leave is shaded with plenty of seating. Clean restrooms. We had a wonderful time tubing with this company. They are a family run business and treat you like one of their own family members, in the best way. Their location on the Comal River is past the rapids, so if you have little ones, it's a great place to start tubing from at their dock. Life jackets are offered and encouraged. They also provide bus rides to a point before the 3 rapids areas if you want to float on a longer, more challenging float. And the bus picks you and your tube up after your float. You could float several times if you arrived early enough, especially on weekdays when it's not as busy on the river. The two cabanas are beautiful with outdoor sofa seating and you can rent them out and bring a picnic, use their grills, or on Friday and Saturday they sell Chick Fila. They also have a picnic table area above the cabanas. They gladly welcome calls to inquire about cabana rentals or planning your trip with them. I appreciated how all of the staff seemed to genuinely care how my tubing experience was. This is the third year my friends and I have made a yearly trip to go floating. They provide a military /first responder discount which is what first brought us here to this location. This year, the manager Jeremy, was super friendly to our group. His personality along with those of his employees is fantastic. We were a little late arriving and though we couldn't take the shuttle back to the chute, Jeremy opened the gate at the bottom of the staircase and let us go again, with the promise that he would be at the end to pick us up. On our second day, he greeted us with a smile and remembered exactly who we were. Again, our group was late and he let us go back down the staircase into the river. We ran to the car really fast and when we came back, he had our floats already waiting for us. I loved tubing through 444! They were all very nice, understanding, and of course knowledgeable. The employees made the whole tubing experience fun and smooth for the first timers on the trip. They even brought ice pops to cool us off and made us super excited to go to the river. One employee in particular, was named Tommy, was absolutely fantastic and made our experience a breeze.
