Great RV park with river access! They have a pool and dog park as well. The dog park was closed while we were there. Bathrooms and showers were decent and usable! They were not nasty or gross, but they were a little hot and humid in the evenings. We drove down about a mile and floated back to Rio Guadalupe and enjoyed every minute! There's a shuttle there that adds $20/tube or person. You can use the shuttle if you are not familiar with the area! The cabins were super cute! May try them out next time! read more

Nice park that could be better. The check in process could have been smoother. If this is your first time here don't expect someone to greet you at the stop sign. Exit your vehicle and walk across the parking lot entrance to the office on your left. I've been to other parks that had someone come out. Put up a sign saying to check in at office or a phone number to call. Staff was still great and could be seen on the grounds cleaning restrooms and picking up trash. WiFi was great since we parked next to a WiFi tower. Utilities are maintained and water pressure was about 40 psi when I first hooked up. It would be advantageous if management took a picture of every site to show tree shading or utility layout. I did see a cable junction box but never inquired if it worked since our WiFi signal was adequate to get weather updates. Tube rental is on site if floating the river is your thing. I read the office has minimal grocery items. I never looked to see what was stocked. A grocery store is about 5 minutes away. It was a relaxing stay and other campers didn't get wild. I will definitely stay here if the occasion arises. read more

If there was ever a place I call home away from home, it's Rio Guadalupe Resort. I've brought my RV to this place numerous times, and can honestly say i've always had an excellent experience. The staff is amazing, the grounds are wonderful...and for me...only 45 min from my house in SA. They are right on the river which is beautiful with cabins overlooking the water. I stay in the RV sites which have only gotten better throughout the years. If you are an RV person, I can't recommend this place enough! read more

It's been a great retreat. I know we're on the off season. So nice to get away. Staff has been friendly, very comfortable environment. Again the wife and I are enjoying the entire visit. We brought our dog, the facilities are great. We've already started planning on our next visit. We plan to bring grandkids. Stayed at Rio Guadalupe. The RV spots are clean, quite and well kept. A little close to each other but everyone was super nice and very mindful of space. Full hooks ups and water, dump site right there. It has a great dog park which is a big plus for us although there was a small corner that a little dog could get out. Staff was really nice and courteous. The River is amazing and so beautiful. It is a little pricey but worth it. I actually caught my PB out there fishing for trout ! Lots of good places to explore and eat. We would definitely stay there again during the off season. read more

We had our wedding here in the fall. Our wedding was in the evening for the breathtaking river view that was lit up. The staff were amazing, helpful with set up, the event hall was spacious with a deck overlooking the river. The cabins were spacious, clean and comfortable for all of our out of town/state family members. We also came back for a different event early spring and the staff remembered us. read more

Do not rent tubing equipment from Rio Guadalupe Resort. My friends and I had a great day tubing but unfortunately I have to leave a 1-star review because of the unethical business practices of their tube rental business. They required a cash deposit for the rental tubes, which was suspicious to begin with, since they accept credit card payment for the actual rental. The guy working the rental shack first asked for $75 for 5 tube deposits, then changed his mind to $50 when I told him I didn't have that much cash on me. He said to have the tubes back by 4pm. When we returned the tubes a little after 4pm (we were floating and had no control over how long the whole thing would take) the rental shack was closed, as was the main office. No problem, we figured, and we left our tubes with the others. When I called the next morning to inquire about getting my deposit back, I was told that the "fine print" of the contract says that any deposit is forfeited if tubes are returned after 4pm. I have never seen a deposit for anything subject to conditions like that - a damage deposit is always refundable if no damage is done - nor was this communicated to me when we rented them. And conveniently the deposit was in cash so I had no way to dispute it with my credit card company. This all seemed like a nice way for a few bad actors to make some extra money off of unsuspecting, trusting visitors. Pretty shady. :( read more

As a stage 4 relapsed cancer patient & police officer, I was really looking forward to this trip and making memories with my daughter & relaxing. Rude treatment by the general manager, Afton, as well as an employee named Debbie, set the whole trip off on a bad note for all of us & put a damper on everything. The guy who handles the shuttle and tubing was awesome every time. Actually, everyone besides Afton and Debbie were great. About a month ago, I had scheduled 3 nights in a cabin with two rooms which was over $300 per night, for June 6-9th. I had already checked in today over the phone and been given the code to my cabin. While we were shopping in Gruene, and just a short time before the front office was closing, I was called and told I would be switched to a smaller cabin. I had paid for a two bedroom cabin and was told the evening of our stay, an hour after check-in, that I was being moved to an efficiency. I was initially told there was a problem with the cabin I had booked & it couldn't be rented out. I was skeptical and I told the employee I wanted to make sure there was really a problem with the room and not just that it was given to someone else and she hemmed & hawed & said she'd have to check w/maintenance. Then a manager came on the line and said the cabin I had booked had originally been booked by someone else and then it was cancelled by mistake by Rio Guadalupe and that family had been coming there for 25 years so they needed to give the family the room back. I've also been coming there for close to 20 years with family, friends, etc. so that was kind of slap in the face. We were put in a smaller efficiency cabin and told we'd be refunded the difference (duh, since I'm being put in a cheaper room) and the only comp would be free tubing. My biggest issue was that they didn't even ask if this was ok. I had already been checked in over the phone and been given the room password for my original larger cabin and then they called me right before they were closing to tell me I would be moving cabins, because of their mistake. The manager, Afton, literally does not belong in customer service, at all. I can't imagine a worse representative for my company. She has no idea how to talk to customers after a mistake on their part. She was interrupting me, sarcastic, talking over me, and just generally really rude. My daughter and her friend were hearing the whole conversation on speaker and were shocked by what Ashton was saying & how she was talking to me. Their eyes kept getting huge & their mouths were dropping open as they listened to the way she was talking to me. I guess she wanted to leave for the day and was in a hurry to go, because she had no patience or genuine remorse for the situation or the way it was handled. Had I not answered the phone, I really wonder what would have happened when we went to our original cabin, which we'd been given the passcode for already. Would I have gone to my original cabin & walked in on other people? Would that other family been told they couldn't have our cabin? Afton acted like she was doing me a huge favor by refunding me the difference in what the room costs but you literally have to do that at minimum because you forced me into a smaller cabin against my will that is not what we wanted or needed or reserved. That's just owed to me because I paid for a larger room. The worst was Afton's terrible attitude. I hate that this happened because it's put a bad taste in my mouth & soured my whole history w/this place. The employees used to be so nice. If Afton would've called and asked if it was okay for us to switch, and genuinely seemed apologetic, it would've been totally different. But her attitude was, "this is the way it's gonna go and you're just going to take these free tube rentals and deal with it." I'm bummed this happened. I feel like they don't value my patronage or the fact that their lousy attitude ruined the start of our vacation. On our previous rental, I had found pubic hairs on "clean" sheets and asked the staff to change the sheets, and they did send a maid to change the sheets, but there was no apology & they seemed put out. Since I've come here so many times in years past, I didn't make a big deal out of it and wrote it off as a one-time situation. When I mentioned this past experience to Afton (because I'm seeing a pattern now of apathy) during today's conversation, she sarcastically said she wouldn't return to a place that has pubic hairs on the sheets. Well, I guess that's my bad for showing loyalty to a place I've come to for the last almost 20 yrs. I guess you're right, Afton, but as a general manger should that be your response? If I could give it a zero I would. Bumped us to a lower grade room, lied about it, and then admitted it was a lie and said it was because there was a new worker. Said they would refund us and comp for days, but still inconsiderate. Never asked if we could've moved, just told we would be bumped down. Bumped us for people who are returners, but we are also returners. Argued on the phone, last time we came we had dirty sheets, manager caught attitude and got cut off. Manager was more rude than original customer service. Made several excuses for staff being "new" and then manager said she's had years of experience dealing with difficult people but they were the difficult ones. My family booked this for our trip, and was very disappointed as we've been coming for years and won't again. They bumped us because the cancelled someone else on accident, and moved us five minutes before they closed. Do not come here if you want a stress free trip. MANAGER ASHTON does not belong in ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE. I've never left a negative review but I thought I'd save someone the trouble. They were incredibly inconsiderate since we came after there were HAIRS on our sheets from the previous year. The manager just wanted to go home. She started arguing and raising voice on the phone, the owners should think about getting a new manager or provide much needed customer service training. read more

We camped here with hopes of riding some of their duckies down the Guadalupe the next day. Unfortunately, the river was too low due to drought, and we'd spent enough time walking boats down the Rio Grande in the past week. As for the campsite itself, there are cabins available, and it appears that all campsites include RV hookups, whether you have an RV or not (we didn't). There is a restroom, as well as heated showers. The showers are free to use, despite coin slot machines on the outside walls. The theory is they didn't use to cater so heavily to RVs, but now that they do, the showers are free. We were very amused by the signs on the bathroom doors that read "DO NOT CLEAN FISH IN THE RESTROOMS". Haha. Don't you just love having to warn people not to do something they obviously shouldn't be doing? Also, there were several recycling bins by the restrooms, which I found to be a refreshing touch. Price must have been reasonable because I wasn't asked to chip in, although I was at other campsites we frequented. There is a well-stocked general store, and you can rent tubes, rafts, boats, etc. to take down the Guadalupe. They also sell some boats. Definitely a worthwhile campground, a short drive from nearby San Antonio. read more

The nicest RV Park we've visited in our one year of "glamping." Everybody was so friendly and helpful. Just as exciting, was walking a few minutes to the tube shack to rent our tubes for the day. This review is for kayaking only.. we went as a family of 8 from ages 8-67.. we rented 6 kayaks and 2 tubes..for well over 250$... I mentioned several times we were first timers and what do I need to know?? "Well is mostly just common sense" was the only real reply.. First issue was getting the kayaks in the river.. we were not told it was our responsibility to carry them down.. the Rio workers did help us to the water with a couple but the rest was left to us... They did NOT assist us in getting into the river..( again first timers) our 67 year old fell while trying to do what the Rio employee should have done. Actually 3 of our group fell... we were very frustrated with their lack of concern for us and our safety. When we returned the kayaks the lady told me WE had to carry the kayaks back up the steep stairs.. I asked if that was in our contract and it obviously wasn't.. I reminded her we asked several times about what was expected of us to no avail.. at 61 and 67 we did NOT carry them back up the steps. I normally would do as I was asked but this time it just wasn't feasible! We really enjoyed the kayaks and the river is beautiful... just be aware of what they expect from you ( and do not tell you) read more

NEVER STAY HERE! This place is DISGUSTING! & ran by elder people who have the WORST attitude!! Upon arrival my boyfriend and I had to wait over an HOUR after check in to get our key because the room was being "cleaned". We were told the room was cleaned yet when my boyfriend opened the dresser there was a pair of DIRTY BOXERS sitting there!!! When we called the office all they did was come pick them up then said they would have their manager call us on Sunday. Well Sunday came and we never got a call so we went to go talk to her and she lied saying one of her employees called to tell us we got a cabin upgrade and that we declined it (which is a lie we never got a call & we have had service this whole trip). This is by far my favorite tubing company on the guadalupe. Over the years, Ive used them dozens and dozens of times, and I havent had a single bad experience (nor popped) tube in all my adventures down there. Uhm, well Im not counting getting drunk and falling out of my own tube - since that clearly isnt their fault. The guys here are all really nice country folk that seem to enjoy seeing all the people come out to the river for some R&R (or a lot of R&R). Over the years, Ive had a chance to stay at their little cabins and they are all nicely (but sparsely) appointed and everything worked. Given that for a couple of years I was floating once a week, I got to know the guys and they were cool enough to get to know me. As Im easily recognizable, they would often give us discounts and the like since we brought them quite a bit of business those years. They're also well versed (even though Im not) in kayaking. Ive done that a few times on their equipment in the winter times. Each and every visit went swimmingly. And the bonus: you dont have to deal with those idiotic cooler policies in N.B. :) They're bad ass - go there. read more

Tubing down the river is as Texan as the bluebonnets on the side of the road, and Rio Raft Company helps you have an awesome experience. My friends and I spent a Saturday tubing, and we liked using Rio Raft Company. They have: - ample parking; - showers and restrooms; - a small convenience store in case you forgot anything; - a shuttle to the river (the get-out point is right at their site); - discounts for groups; - plenty of tubes; - knowledgeable, friendly staff. These guys are aren't in it just for the money, which they could be seeing as how many people like going down the river this time of year. A customer was trying to get a tube for a 5-year old, and the staff person who was helping her told her he didn't feel comfortable putting a kid in a tube that young with the water levels that high. She insisted incessantly, but the staff person held his ground. I respect that he didn't cave. read more

I would be very cautious of booking any reservations with this business as in the event of an emergency they will not honor their word to credit your stay for a future stay. In September 2021, my husband and I had reservations at this "resort". In advance of our reservation my husband's father had to undergo a last-minute triple bypass heart surgery. His father needed my husband there for his aftercare as he needed assistance being lifted etc. We called this resort in advance of our reservation advising them of the circumstances. At the time they appeared understanding and accommodating and they assured us that though we would not receive a refund that they would apply a credit towards a future reservation. Our friends take a yearly trip to this "resort" to float the river and we tried to utilize our credit today for a future reservation in September 2022, however, the "resort" now refuses to honor their word to us and will not allow us to utilize this credit. As a result, I highly do not recommend this "resort" due to their lack of professionalism and honoring of their word. Unfortunately, due to my belief that this business would honor their word I have no other recourse to obtain the funds that were supposed to be used towards a future credit so this review will have to do. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere if not for peace of mind if some emergency were to arise. read more

I have a hankering to go tubing several times a year and I always choose Rio. They are helpful and friendly. There is always plenty of parking, the store is pricey but very handy when you've realized you've forgotten an essential item and they have bathrooms and showers on site. I've never camped there so this is only for the tubing experience. The best thing about it is, they are right on the river and you tube down to them and get out. To me there is nothing worse than a long bumpy bus ride after a long day of tubing. Here you can just pull out of the river, turn in your tubes and go straight to your car. The prices are pretty much the same as all the other river outfitters. They also give you a pretty good explanation of your float and the runs you may want to get out and walk around. Booked in for a couple of days for our 3rd or 4th visit of last summer. Had a family emergency (lost job and apartment) and we volunteered to have this family member stay in our camper meaning we couldn't stay at the resort. This was 2 weeks prior to our booking and I was quoted policy as to no refund. I asked not for a refund but just to see if we could stay another time when we get the camper back. I was spoken to rather aggressively like I'm stupid and told no. The staff always seem unfriendly and stressed anyway from our first 3 visits so not that surprising. I tried to see if we could escalate this and was told a manager/owner would call me back. Never happened. Will never stay here again. Also wanted to share this experience. read more

By far the best trip to the canyon lake area we've had. We'll be back!! The cabins were great, and having a full kitchen was VERY nice. The deck on our cabin had a beautiful view of the water, and was very clean. They rent tubes and kayaks on the property, so on Saturday we floated in and were able to head straight to our cabin with out having to drive anywhere. They also had a free concert that night. We were here for a week in our RV and enjoyed our stay. Lots of big trees for shade and NO stickers. They have alot of rules, however you must understand that all kinds of people come to the area and there is ALOT of drinking by some. We didn't like the fact that our dogs couldn't stay. Our vehicle broke down while here and they were very understanding about the need for a different vehicle while our's was at the Chevy house. We also rented tubes from Rio Raft, which in on property, and they didn't have a time frame for return because we were staying here. They warned us about the two dams and which way to go (kayaking) at dams, but not the rapids and huge boulders along the way. Tipped and hit boulder and got a black eye. Also when you return your kayaks, staff expects you to walk boats up three flights of stairs, or a large hill. Requires two people per kayak or you'll get chastised for dragging up soft hill. For price of rental, staff should let you drop equipment after you exit river, or at least be there to help you. read more

Nice folks here at Rio Guad. Resort AKA Rio Raft. To start off I was told by a friend that they've had bad experiences dealing with "rude folks" in the office. I have to say I did not have this experience whatsoever, and I would have to believe that a case of "you get what you give" was probably the culprit here... Anyways on to a glowing review! My father any I went here to do some Rainbow Trout fishing a couple of weeks ago and did not know what to expect. We walked into the office and were greeted by the couple running the place. They asked how we were and what we were looking to do. We told them that we were looking to do some fishing with our kayaks and asked how much they charged. They stated that the Texas Parks and Wildlife sponsors the first 10 cars per day during the temporary lease agreement they have with them, so we were very gracious and accepted the free day of fishing. I believe the gentleman said it was typically $8 per car otherwise. We drove down to the river bank and were able to very easily launch our kayaks from a gentle sloping concrete surface. This was nice because we didn't have to get muddy! They have a "boat ramp" of sorts which I guess is used by guide rafts (it was chained off when we were there). A beautiful property with a wood deck and lots of river front access. read more

The park was absolutely beautiful and all staff with the exception of one were awesome but while we were out watching the band (the band the resort had playing) a drunk staff member was out of control, screaming and cussing with children around about how the band needed to shut the ...... up, how he had worked 12 hours and didn't want to hear the music when a young man asked him to chill out the staff then pushed the young man and began trying to fight with him. A security guard from the condo next door had to come over to get him to calm down and walk away. We called to make a complaint but Sue told us she could not let us talk with anyone about it. All the other staff we came in contact with were great and very friendly, but the safety of guests should be priority and they should not have a drunk staff on the clock dealing with guests. So glad the other gentlemen was not intoxicated or it could have been much worse. The worst part is there were quite a few children sitting on the lawn where the staff member began trying to fight the young man and he didnt care, no regard for the safety of anyone. Such a dangerous situation that would not have taken place if they had a responsible staff on duty. The young lady security guard from the condo next door did an amazing job taking care of the situation and getting it under control. read more

Have been loyal customers here for over a decade, but no more. We asked to reschedule our stay here due to massive flooding and they would not accommodate. We did not ask for a refund, simply to reschedule 1 month until flooding in the area ceased. I even offered to upgrade our cabin to their most expensive unit, but they wouldn't have it. 10+ years of renting campsites, tubes, rafts, and $100's spent at the camp store and now we have to eat a $500 reservation. read more

We will be finding somewhere else to stay for our next river trip. As soon as we entered the office the staff were very rude and had misplaced all our paperwork. They have VERY strict rules and a cop on duty all night enforcing every little detail. Quiet time starts at 10pm no matter what day it is and if you talk to loud you get a visit from cop on duty. They have a speed limit of 5mph and when we returned from dinner I was going exactly 5mph and one of the staff started yelling and waving his hands at us saying we were going entirely too fast! Ridiculous. We booked 3 spots we all vary in ages 20-40 and one of the men said a cuss word and the staff came over and told him he couldn't speak like that here. The tube rental was entirely way too expensive. $23 per tube. We floated around 11am and we got back at 4pm and they refused to take us again stating it was too late even for the short float which was 2 1/2 hours. Other camps allow you to float much later and would of gladly accepted more money to take all 13 of us again. Pretty much in a summary if you go to the river to have a good time I DO NOT recommend staying here. read more
