I used to live walking distance from this place and I think that was probably when I peaked. I miss this coffee and atmosphere so much

I finally made my way to 45South after many years of being in this area. I brought an acquaintance here because I've seen this spot listed in several local publications and voted to be a great spot to try. After a nice park walk we came in on a Saturday. The inside is on the smaller side but in a cozy sense. Immediately upon entering we were greeted and welcomed. The staff were very friendly and inviting. They recommended items and explained them to us. Parking was easy at the time we went but can get tricky as the day goes on. We were there in the early am so it wasn't packed thankfully. When they delivered the food I was a tad shocked by the presentation. My potatoes, eggs and bacon came delivered on a metal pizza pan with parchment paper. Now it threw me off because I've never seen that and I expected it on a plate. The potatoes had been soaking in grease that didn't appear clean as the potatoes were tiny cut and dark. They also simply tasted of grease. The eggs were scrambled with not much to be desired and the bacon was good. The meal left me underwhelmed and needing to go get an actual meal after we left. Also the utensils were plastic. The experience gave more of food truck vibes than cute little cafe. I had a smoothie which I enjoyed. Although I don't after that I would come back if I did it would only be for a beverage. I was confused because I remember seeing the menu and it mentioned scrum-did-dly-ump-tious so I thought it would be a more southern well seasoned country style and it was more bland fast food style. read more

I lived in Downtown Norcross my whole first year after moving to Georgia and 45 South became a staple on my weekends. The inside offers a comfy cozy feel with lots of seating for people to work from. This coffee shop also offers outdoor seating - which is dog friendly. The baristas are great, and the ones that know me well have my go-to drinks memorized. 45 South offers homemade quiche and danishes on the weekdays, and has a broader menu (potato bowls, burritos, etc.) Friday-Sunday. On my most recent visit, my husband and I ordered our usual food and drink choices. Iced Butterbeer for him and an Iced Matcha for me. This is by far my FAVORITE place to get an Iced Matcha. The consistency is so creamy and yummy. For food, he ordered the AM Burrito which comes with chicken sausage, and I ordered a Potato Bowl (topped with an egg). On weekdays our go-to is always the Chicken Sausage Quiche. If you're ever in the area, stop by and try it! read more

Ordered breakfast to go last week and it was good. I got an almond milk latte and a regular latte for my coworker, both iced with lavender. We both had to mix the coffee a lot because the lavender syrup was all the bottom and overpowering the flavor of the coffee. For food I had a cheese danish and a bagel with butter, both good. The thing I appreciated the most was how nice the person who took my order was. She seems like she likes her job and makes people smile, she made me smile with her kindness. The location is spacious and has many tables and seats to work from. Definitely will want to work from there. read more

I picked the worst day to go here for the first time. Placed an online order through their Toast option at 10am. After waiting an hour my wife walks up there to pick up the order only to find out they hadn't started on it yet even though they took my money from my account. She re-placed the order and paid for it again because apparently they don't own the restaurant anymore and are going through a kitchen switch, including the POS system so they couldn't refund me. The lady gave me some other person's phone number to call about my original order refund which obviously I'll just call the bank and tell them fraud but the professionalism was absolutely terrible. Not to mention we waited over an hour for biscuits, a side of bacon and one pancake. First and last time going for sure. I would give it zero stars if I could. This is probably why the kitchen is closing and they're going through these changes. read more

Friendly staff with a beautiful location. Everything I tried from the coffee to the Danish and the breakfast burrito were fantastic and super flavorful. Butter beer iced latte - 4/5 great taste with a strong butterscotch and caramel flaver without overpowering the coffee. Cherry Danish - 4/5 Very fresh tasting fruit compote with a flakey Danish. Banana bread iced latte - 4/5 Like drinking a great slice of banana bread. Full flavored but not overpowering the coffee. Peach cobbler iced coffee - 5/5 Fav of the trips. Great coffee flavor. You get all the spices of a fantastic peach cobbler. They even add a puree of peaches at the bottom that adds a huge pop to really bring the peach flavor. Would recommend trying. read more

Tucked away in downtown Norcross, 45 South Cafe offers the perfect getaway for a sip of coffee. I had the house latte and it wad the perfect drink to have on a chilly fall sunny day. The house latte had a hint of vanilla and cinnamon that just warms up your body and soul. I had mines with oat milk which gave it the perfect nutty flavour on top of it. They have lots of tables and sockets so it's great for working and studying as well. The windows in the cafe are quite large so you'll get a lot of warm sunlight too which always is great! There's tons of art on the walls for sale and its very spacious inside. The server was very helpful and honest in his recommendations for coffee and breakfast. I decided to go with the breakfast burrito and made it into a bowl with potatoes and a side of gouda grits.... yum, right! The breakfast burrito bowl had eggs, pico de gallo, black beans, cheddar cheese and potatoes. I decided to mix in my side of gouda grits and it was delicious, each bite was so scrumptious; the potatoes were extra crispy, just how I like it. Gouda grits were creamy and perfect and complimented the breakfast bowl. The bowl, side grits and coffee came to $17.12. In addition to the food the, service was fantastic. I came in with some friends for a late breakfast. Our server was friendly and promptly took our orders. I had a breakfast bowl. This had yummy cheese grits on the bottom with eggs and bacon on top. It was $6 and very filling. I appreciated that when I asked the server about the bowl and a higher priced breakfast, he didn't try to push the more expensive option. My friends all enjoyed their choices also. This was a fun place to come into with friends. We sat in the back and loved that we were kind of by ourselves back there so we didn't bother anyone. Local breakfast places are hard to come by. Menu here is very limited but they have the basics. This is a great place to meet a friend for brunch. Located in the historic area of Norcross this is a great way to support local. I had the omelette with chicken sausage, cheese and mushrooms. It was served with my choice of grits with smoked Gouda cheese and a biscuit. I cleaned my plate if it tells you anything. Ha ha! They also have an assortment of muffins and baked goods if you are looking for something smaller. Service was ok. Nice guy but I had to keep asking for coffee refills. No problem though since I wasn't in a hurry. After eating you can walk around and enjoy some of the other stores in the area. Came by for some hot drinks and a new place to just hangout and talk with friends. This place is very homey and fairly spacious. They have live music from 730 to 10 on fridays and the crowd was so nice and quiet. Their matcha latte was foamy and light but not too sweet which I loved. Their drinks were also well priced from the $2.50 to 4 range for the most part. They have a patio seating that is cute and dog friendly as well. This time I sat downstairs the server never check on us till the food came and it took forever for our food to get to our table. The server only check on us twice, once when our food came and second time to gives us our check. We actually have to refilled hot water for our teas at the counter ourself. The food isn't any better. My husband order the breakfast burger, wow the fries look like it has been fried in a very old oil. Same with our breakfast potatoes. The woman behind the counter told me the current coffee was not a dark roast, more of a medium roast, so I went with that. She offered to add a shot of espresso to it - make it an Americano. I declined. Pretty good cup of coffee. Added some Half n' Half and got the coffee to go. Lots of interior seating here. I'm torn between 45 South Cafe and what I would say my experience was. 45 South Cafe is a walkable distance to where my house is so, I wanted to definitely check out the places that are close by. They were one of the first places that I looked at before I even moved into the neighborhood, and to be honest, it wasn't the best. Why? I got breakfast both times, and I would say if you're coming here for that, you'll probably not get the best types of choices. The last time that I came here, I didn't even get anything that they charged me extra for. (I ordered chicken sausage in a bowl, but never got anything.) I would say this: if you're coming here for food, I would suggest to look elsewhere because the food here is mediocre. If you're here for coffee and a snack? This would probably fit more in line for this place. Sadly, this is the only breakfast in downtown and even though they offer real butter, I just can't justify that the food is the greatest. If you come here for coffee, I would just stick to that and not get anything else. I think that was my final takeaway. I love the historic Norcross district. A quaint area for just a light stroll or some good dining. I believe 45 South Cafe is one of the only coffee shops in the district, and one that has always caught my eye. 45 South Cafe serves both food and drink. I noticed a few Three Tavern Brewery beers sitting in the glass display case. I ordered a 16oz latte, which they promised to bring out to me. I forgot that since I was OTP, coffee is a little cheaper. I tipped the barista the price I would have paid for a latte ITP. Let's just say, that barista has gotta be pretty happy about that. After sitting alone for a while, I noticed a server was walking from table to table taking orders. I didn't realize this was also a sit down restaurant, not just a grab and go cafe. Awkwardly, I sipped on my coffee as I watched others being served by a couple waitresses. It's not the quietest here. One of the servers had a few kids and they were pretty noisy, especially the screaming baby I could hear through my headphones. I don't mind white noise, but this was sporadic screaming was really killing my focus. I didn't realize 2-4pm would be such a busy time for a Saturday. Overall, a great little place for your espresso needs. I'll definitely need to give the food a try next time I'm here on an empty stomach. read more

Such an adorable and colorful little place. The guy working last Tuesday was superb with his customer service. He was engaging and friendly. Loved it! Seating was pretty plentiful and spacious. There were also seats out back with some shade as an option too. The date and I both ordered the white mocha in the iced version. [Great minds think alike] Man that thing was sweet. There were also wine as a more adult choice option. And of course there were baked goods as well. Parking was crowded along the main strip in front of the restaurants. Was wondering were to go after church for breakfast when we remembered this place.. A quick turn from pleasant hill and onto buford and in a few minutes we find our selves in Norcross downtown.. Nice place.. For some reason even though the downtown is small but it always gives us an welcoming feeling when we drive through it... like your back in history... Service was really great... First, I want to say the is a great little coffee shop. The food is great, the drinks are great and pricing is pretty reasonable. I do have a gripe, though. The shop's hours are just plain weird to me. They don't open until 8:00 AM! It's a coffee shop that doesn't open until most people have already had their first cup of coffee! I can tell you that I often hear other locals gripe about this. There are a number of community gatherings at the coffee shop and an 8:00 opening makes us all frustrated! What you need to know: The grits are AMAZING, it's a quiet spot, service is decent, food is no frills, and the beignets are OUT OF THIS WORLD. Came here on a coffee date once and likes the quaint and no frills attitude about the place, so brought my dad here for a bday breakfast. Food: Most of the food is here is no frills, but I'll have to shout out two items: the Gouda grits, and the beignets. Both of these are easily some of the best I've EVER had, and those alone will keep me coming back for more. Honorable mention - the chicken sausage is super flavorful. Drink: I had their breakfast tea which was decent, and my dad had their coffee - no complaints. They also serve wine and beer, but we came before 12 on a Sunday so you know how that goes. Service: This is was pretty decent, nothing bad. Although it seemed a little slow seeing as there was barely anyone else around, but Sunday mornings are always sluggish for quieter places like this so I don't blame her. Price: I think we ended up at around $40 for 3 people, so solid prices, not cheap but not expensive by any means. Ambience: A bit hipster-ish, definitely quaint, very quiet for the most part, very nice and intimate patio area in the back. No frills. Parking: This can be limited once it gets busy, but this area isn't really all that busy most days so you should be fine. All in all, this spot has a great breakfast that I'll definitely be back for and is located in the quaint intimate historic downtown Norcross that is always nice to come to in order to get away from the hustle and bustle. read more

This is one of my favorite coffee shops in which to work. And it is also a great spot for a morning meeting or to take the kids on a weekend morning. It is rarely packed and appears to be frequented by locals. Sometimes, they have community meetings there. The coffee beverages are great, and there are a variety of options. The pastries and cakes in the front display case have always been a win. I love the quiche. I recently went for a hot breakfast, and Bucky's Bowl did not disappoint. Grits with cheese, bacon, and an egg on top - sheer perfection. The beignets were also excellent - slight crisp on the outside, fluffy and light on the inside. They were served with a chocolate dipping sauce that felt much too decadent for a Thursday morning visit (but it was great!). This continues to be one of my favorite Norcross spots. read more

I just moved to the Norcross area about a month ago and 45 South Cafe was the first place I went to. The coffee was excellent and strong. I normally drink ice lattes so I always get the iced Butterbeer Latte. The iced Butterbeer Latte is just the perfect about of sweetness to coffee ratio with no bitter aftertaste. I especially love the quiches here as well. They are good and filling. They cut a good size piece for you. The coffee shop itself is clean and holds a great atmosphere. It is the perfect place to sit down and relax with a book or even your laptop. If you sit in the front you get a perfect view of the train tracks on the other side of the street. Now for the staff. Everyone I have met here has been amazing. They are very welcoming and knowledgeable. But I will say for the first time 45 South Cafe goers the staff is not Starbucks. You should not go in and expect to order immediately and get your coffee in less than a minute. What you can expect is a friendly relaxed atmosphere and your coffee to come out right every time. They have a lot of regulars here and it is great to see. I hope to slowly become a regular here. I will say that I have not gone to Starbucks since moving to Norcross. read more
