Exactly what you want in a dark drive bar with little light. It's the type of place you never know what time it is, in the best way. Only giving 4 stars because there's no kitchen.

I had seen this place while shopping across the street. Red Sox banner, looks small from the outside. Walked in and it took a sec for my eyes to adjust. It's pretty dark in here. Couple of other patrons on one end of the bar, tvs on sports. I was greeted by a cheery, funny lady behind the bar, very friendly. She mentioned how dark it was in the bar, and the beer was as cold as it was dark in here. The beer IS cold, decent price. There is Red Sox memorabilia all around, and coincidentally, a Red Sox game on tv. The bartender had a big jar on the bar with peppers in it, said it was filled with vodka, for bloody marys on Sunday before the Saints game. Pretty cool. Bathroom is decent, couple of tables and a back room Its ok.

Before Tucks parade, the Elvis hangout. Starts at 8:30 AM. Always a blast and friendly bar tenders.

Cozy cool fun bar. Its barely a dive tho. Categorized as a dive is what brought me in, dealing with the bartenders is what keeps me coming back. Now that its non smoking, its a 1000 times better. There is plenty or spots to talk and get deep into conversation besides the bar. Tables and booths way in the back lets you get all kissy face. During the winter months its nice and comfy back there. Its a Red Sox bar if that matters to you. Im not a raving sports fanatic but the background noise is comforting. The nightly visit of a food truck, my apologies on not knowing which one it is, is a sure thing too. Its the truck that sells the fried avocado slices. MMMM! There is a very nice selection of draught and bottled beer here too. Its constantly changing. Parking can be a bit of a hassle if you gotta park on the "inside" of the adjacent neighborhood. Not well lit and sometimes sketchy. Walking across Tchoupitoulas with a buzz isnt not easy feat either but this place is definitely worth it. Good prices and awesome staff is where its at for this funky hole in the wall.

While I want to love 45 Tchoup because it's a Red Sox bar (WOOT!) with a good vibe and darts...the smoke in there is (in my opinion) the worst in the city. I can't breathe and I leave feeling nauseous. I've gone back a few times hoping that I can stand it but ... I can't. I think that if it wasn't for the smoke I would be there at least a few times a week during SOX season.

Debbie the owner practically saved me a seat for Game 1 and I kept coming back for the games that followed.

It's intimate, lively, and has exactly the kind of old-school New Orleans character I was hoping to find. The musicians were excellent, and being in such a small space makes the whole experience feel much more personal. It's also a great alternative to the much more famous Preservation Hall. If you want an excellent traditional New Orleans jazz experience without necessarily going for the best-known name, Fritzel's absolutely delivers. It feels cozy, authentic, and incredibly atmospheric. One thing to know before you go: you do need to purchase a drink to get in, but it can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic. In my opinion, it's absolutely worth it for the experience. This was easily one of my favorite stops in the French Quarter. Great music, great atmosphere, and a quintessential New Orleans experience. Five stars, and I would absolutely come back!

The Sit Down Comedienne and Red Bean absolutely stole the show. Their timing, delivery, and audience interaction had the room laughing from start to finish. A few of the other comics are still finding their rhythm, but that's part of the charm of supporting emerging talent. Located just across from the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, The Howlin' Wolf Den was easy to find. It was fully wheelchair accessible and much larger inside than its exterior suggests. The venue also features a full bar and a reasonably priced finger food menu, making it a great place to spend an evening. Overall, it was a relaxed, entertaining night filled with plenty of laughs and a great way to kick off my New Orleans visit. #TysAdventures26 #HowlinWolfDen #GumbeauxComedy #NewOrleans #WheelchairAccessible #SupportLocalComedy #RedBean #TheSitDownComedienne

Food 3.5/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbiance 4.5/5 I was visiting New Orleans for the weekend, and being tired from a flight in, I wanted something close to the hotel. My friends picked a spot, and we went - and we had no regrets. There was one man running the whole kitchen the night we came in, and he was doing great, although he was very busy. Food came out great, my friends had the "Badass Burger" which they all praised, especially the fresh fries. I personally had the Hot 8 Sampler and a simple Bacon Quesadilla - and those were no slouch either. If I had anything to complain about, it's that the price is a little high for the food you get. Though, that's to be expected so close to the convention center in a dive like this. Overall, my friends and I had a great experience - and we'd all be happy to come back.
