This new local, humble, positive barbecue place has a great, affordable menu and everything was wonderful. We enjoyed pulled beef, pulled pork, chicken and sausage. Ribs were sold out on a Saturday by 6pm but that's a great sign! I generally don't like barbecued chicken since it can be dry but this was moist and perfectly seasoned. We also enjoyed the pulled meats as they were seasoned and tasty. I can't forget the sides! Mac and Cheese was yummalicious and the collard greens were also excellent. They were sold out of yams but, there is always next time! I splurged and got a slice of strawberry pound cake and sweet potato cake for dessert. We liked the strawberry best! Nothing like a local, hidden, small bbq spot with a smoker outside in the parking lot! Clearwater needs this and 4K delivers! Life is good with local bbq and positive art work on the walls!

    SOOOO GOOD!!!

Hands down, the BEST BBQ I HAVE EVER HAD! I ordered the pulled pork dinner, collard greens, and Mac n cheese. The meat was so moist and tender! The Mac n cheese was spot on! And those greens! That sauce! All of it was delicious and priced well at only $17 (with a soda)! I drove 38 mins to give this place a try, it did not disappoint! The staff are all so friendly and I didn't wait long for my food. I will definitely be back to 4K's soon! Support local, family-owned, and black-owned businesses!

First of all I would like to say this food is a 9/10 only because that sweet potato pie was doughy; but the chicken is tender, the collard greens are savory and the sweet yams taste like Grandmas cooking. We asked who made the sides and they said their Grandma. There wasn't a server, when you walk in you look at the menu then order. The ambiance is chill and quiet. People mostly do to go orders.

This is what was not burnt. So stringy this was not edible.

If you like eating cold leftovers, this is for you. Not what I expected, since it smelled great. Save your money.

Today, I was driving past, starving but with a full schedule of errands to run. If it had been any other place, I would have ignored it and just gotten coffee somewhere to keep me moving. Brakes, u-turn, park. I waited a couple minutes while some people gathered their order. I was too hungry to choose and asked the kind lady in the window to help me. She was patient and helped me by simply being patient. A few more people came up and I got nervous I was taking too long. But people just smiled. I decided to try a lot of stuff, but not so much I'd waste anything...including money if it wasn't as good as I hoped. Brisket wasn't ready yet so I went with Pulled Pork sandwich... Tender tasty meat nicely sauced on a white bread hamburger bun, with extra sauce on the side. I added sauce, but not so much as I wanted to taste the meat more. The sauce was good enough to eat like you would Chocolate sauce with ice cream. You're not going to leave any behind. Perfect sandwich saved me. Collard greens...perfectly cooked and seasoned, not too salty, pieces of bbq meat flavoring it nicely. Perfect side. Mac N Cheese...correctly cooked noodles, perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper, and cheese throughout, though not the gooey cheesy saucy kind of cheese...not velveeta "cheese". Really nice side. Banana Pudding...this is homemade with chunks of banana and chunks of (shortbread?) cookies. This is one of my favorites. Can of soda. She apologized it wasn't that cold. Her caring made it taste better. As you can see by the stars, I really liked this place. I'll be getting back to my errands now, an hour later after eating in my car and pondering a nap. I have a couple more bites of the pudding, which I will not be saving for later. Highly recommended for anyone who likes barbecue. And actually for anyone who thinks they don't like bbq. They will soon.

Courtney was my waitress, and even when slammed, she never forgot me. She was professional and did an outstanding job both times I ate with her. As for the food, it was the best I had in Clearwater. I prefer Diner and Dive local eats compared to overpriced and pretentious restaurants. I had the seafood platter and the Grouper sandwich, and both were outstanding and grilled to perfection. I enjoyed my seafood scallops and grouper with green beans on the platter, but I LOVED my sandwich and fries! This was also my FIRST stop on the Cocktail Challenge (four stops for four signature drinks at four locations), and I enjoyed my drink on a humid day and, if I'm being honest, loved my Dockside Lemonade the best of all the drinks on the challenge. I had the Banana Hammock and, of course, the Rum Runner, which was outstanding, but this Dockside Lemonade was cool and refreshing and welcomed. Little sweet as a heads up, but really a nice summer drink! At the end of the day, this was a great way to start my challenge and Clearwater vacation. It can get busy with its proximity to the beach, so beware! ***For the record, if you are interested in the challenge. Go South Beach, Rockaway, Saltwater (for the views and true on-the-beach dining). End with a grouper sandwich (the best I had) at the Original and then cash in your passport at the next block at Off the Hook!

Great prices and solid food…read more I recently read a book about how most grouper isn't actually grouper. The book called out that Frenchy's grouper is the real deal because they fish for it themselves. That was enough to make me want to try this restaurant. I'm glad they have this location, because it was two minutes from Opal sol where we were staying. We were here at about 1130 on a Saturday and there was tons of seats available. It doesn't seem that big, but being that it's pretty far south from a lot of other places I think the size fits the demand. You can sit outside on the first floor or upstairs. Upstairs, there were only about eight tables, but it was air-conditioned and we had a nice view of the beach. All the drinks are so inexpensive. We are talking less than $10 each. I got a butter, pecan old-fashioned and my husband got a margarita and we both enjoyed our drinks. For our entrées, I got a super grouper grilled sandwich with coleslaw, my younger son got a pretzel that was in the shape of Fish, my older son got a chicken tender basket, and the two of them shared, and my husband got a peel and eat shrimp. This was the perfect amount of food for all of us, we ate it all. The pretzel was a huge hit, it comes with queso, and the kids demolished it. The grouper sandwich tasted a little dry, but again I love the fact that it is real grouper so I would definitely try again. Service was pretty quick and music was old school (think Price). I really enjoyed this place and we will definitely come back.

I got the 2 meat combo, pulled pork & brisket with collards and baked beans. My wife got 4 rib bones with slaw and mac & cheese. The meats were perfect with a very good smoke taste and very tender. All four sides were classic BBQ house offerings and complimented the meat perfectly. Each dinner came with a large slice of Texas toast. We tried three of their house sauces, Texas hot, Kansas City sweet, and the Carolina mustard based sauce. All were very good; but, we used them sparingly to let the flavor of the meat come through. The few inside tables were clean and comfortable and the guys working made sure we had everything we needed. When it warms up we will use the outside tables. To explain, I never leave a tip at the beginning of the meal, as one doesn't know how good the food and service will be. During my meal, this young lady was talking to another employee, and every few seconds she would quickly glance over to me while chatting with her co-worker. And as I have excellent hearing, she was complaining about not receiving a tip, and someone really should tell her to not talk about the customers- and look directly at them while doing so. So after I had finished I just left, LEAVING NO TIP! While the food was tasty, and the price reasonable for the brisket dinner, still, I would never return, no matter how good the food was.
