Fun bar in Brooklyn... I came here thanks to Jax W, who invited a bunch of yelpers and friends of hers. They have a large beer selection, both on tap and by the bottle, which is always good. And not to miss is the garden in the back, which is pretty big and a great place to relax with some friends after a long week. I can't seem to disagree with all the other folks giving 5's on here. I finally got to this locale on 4th ave and had a great time taking advantage of the $2 off happy hour deal starting at 3pm and going until 8pm! That is a real and solid happy hour. They had fresh popcorn popping and a serious amount of beers on tap and in the bottle. So happy Brooklyn Inn was closed and it was a sunny day to walk up here and check it out. I hate change. I rarely go outside of my comfort zone when eating or drinking...I like my precious Brooklyn Inn and it is really the only place I would ever go in Boerum Hill. I have tried so hard to love this place. They have a great beer list and outside space. Free popcorn too. The problem? Every time I have been there, I have been ignored by the bartenders. No joke, every time. The most recent time the bartender literally helped everyone at the bar (including some refills) before we had to flag her down (we were sitting at the bar) and were told she'd help us as soon as she was done taking orders. Seriously? You ignored us every time you walked by us and went out of your way to help everyone else. We went down to Pacific Standard where we didn't have to wait 20 minutes for a beer. This bar has a nice beer menu, and a nice selection of microbrews. I asked the bartender if I can sample a few before selecting my pint. In no way do this to drink for free, (thats only at Starbucks), but to pick a great beer. He let me try two selections for each of my two pints, and I really enjoyed what he provided and what I chose. I don't remember what they were, but they rung my bell, and I like that. The outdoor garden was splendid, it was a beautiful night and there were lightning bugs all around us. This is a great place to go as long as it doesn't get too crowded. I never knew about this bar until someone took me there after a long night at a freak show in Coney Island......yes, it was an actual freak show. But back to the bar.....instead of heading back to Manhattan, I hung out with some new friends from the show until the wee hours of the morning and they took me back to Brooklyn to this bar. Great little pub in Boreum Hill/Park Slope. They have a wide selection of amazing beers on tap and a free popcorn machine. Their spacious outdoor garden is great for large gatherings. They also encourage you to bring in food or oder delivery right to the bar from one of the many take out menus they have in a binder behind the bar. read more

Came here with my co-workers after work on a Friday and must say from the outside it does t look like much but the beer selection is fantastical. They have tables inside and an outdoor area with tables. Really nice atmosphere too. Good times. read more

4th Avenue Pub is my local watering hole. I started going there just a few weeks after it opened because I am a beer geek and I always know when great beer places are opening. And this is a great beer place -- around 24 or so draft lines and a killer bottled selection, all carefully chosen by the owners and their beer consultant. There are always a few easy-drinking beers on draft, and there are always a few beers to make the uber beer geek salivate. For all you Anglophiles out there, they also usually have one cask -conditioned beer on. But this place is so much more than just a beer bar. It has an excellent backyard patio in the warmer months, complete with a grill for hot dogs and burgers; a good jukebox, though the music tends to be better when the bartenders hook up their iPods (never trust the general drinking public to play good music); and an excellent selection of other booze, including a nice whiskey and bourbon list, sangria, a few wines, etc. The happy hour is an unbelievable deal: $2 off all draft beers (and probably deals on other drinks, but I usually only get draft beer). The bartenders are friendly, fun, attentive, and cute. There is free popcorn (but no pizza or any other food except for the summer cookouts, Jennifer R. from Brooklyn. You must be confused). The clientele is as true a Brooklyn mix as you can get -- yuppies, hipsters, blue collar locals, beer geeks. All in all, this place has a little bit of everything for everybody. This place is great. I've been going here since they opened. They have an extensive beer selection and a nice selection of scotch at very reasonable prices. Free popcorn, good happy hour, nice outdoor space, and friendly staff are all just icing on the cake. They don't have food, but you can order from the book of menus and have it delivered. Wish it wasn't as popular as it is because it's not the largest bar around, but hey, you can't have everything. read more

I don't know how to rate this place. I must've went here on an off night, because the service was unbearably slow. So slow, in fact, that they unintentionally didn't charge us for the majority of our drinks. We made an honest effort to let them know, but after waiting 30 minutes we just left a massive tip to make up for it and continued on with our night. For bar of its size, they have a lot of seating - bar, booths, tables, and outdoor patio - and their craft beer selection is quite impressive. The prices are about average for NYC ($5-7), but guess what's included - free popcorn, with salt and Old Bay to add as you wish!
