What a fun place to have a beer. While there outside seating weather permitting, the inside is warm and comfortable ith a great atmosphere. Nice selection of beer; we enjoyed a stout with hints of coffee and maple syrup that was perfect for a cold night. The fact that the alcohol content was 12.3% helped warm us up. Check it out if you are in that area of Brooklyn.

This review is long overdue. Every time I visit my friend who resides on St Johns Place we make a point to grab a beer at the to go window and relax at the bar and enjoy a beer. The interior has a curved wooden ceiling that reminds me of a surf board. The lighting is almost non existent and there is a record player for tunes. The beer list is varied, craft and the server will provide a free sample. The food is also delicious. This past Sunday we shared two paninis. The ciabiatta is from a local bakery and outstanding. We tried vegan Artichoke and white bean and the Salami Picante. The panini is served with salty corn nuts and cornichons. The total bill for 3 12 ounce beers and two paninis was $80 prior to gratuity.

Overall rating: 4.8 Super cute spot near the Brooklyn museum. I already knew it was going to be a great place just by the other reviews, but I wasn't sure if it was going to be snooty or anything. Super chill, but very popular! My friend and I got lucky and got seats at the bar, but I could totally come here solo which is why I like it a lot! Beer is crafted and good. It's a tad bit bright but looks like people come to work, read a book or hang. The staff was really nice and I like how simple the menu is. I don't think I'd eat any snacks here, but I can try it out when I come back. Such a good find & highly reco!

Gold Star gets just that- a gold star! (Ok I'll show myself out now bye) But really- great beer selection and vibe, this is the kind of place you can just grab a beer with friends and just chill and have a great night. We were a group of three on a Saturday afternoon- you can grab a seat inside (at the bar counter or at the tables) or outside (there are about 5 tables.) We had fun going through the menu- pilsners, sour ales, IPAs oh my! Drinks are reasonably priced ($8~) I got a sour ale called the Jelly King that was basically a tangerine flavored beer. I usually don't get sours but really glad I tried this one, it was not that tart. For my second drink, I tried the Barknado, a hazy beer that was citrus-y but also somehow savory at the same time- I swear, it smelled like nori (Roast seaweed)?! We also shared a Fig+Pig sandwich ($14- smoked coppa, speck, provolone, fig jam, arugula & balsamic), which was served with some corn nuts and cornichon. The bread was crusty and delicious, and the fig jam went beautifully with the savory coppa and speck. I wonder if they would consider heat lamps for the outside tables? It did get quite chilly.

Cute neighborhood beer spot. Around $10 for a beer. There's a range of inside and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating varies from just a few chairs on the edge of the sidewalk, to some having tables. But it's a nice vibe on a beautiful day since you can people-watch and look at the pretty brownstones. Pretty popular bar though, so it is a little difficult to grab these outdoor spots. Will say as a warning that since we were sitting outside, we all got flies in our drinks at the end of the night - but nothing that the bar could've done.

Best beer selection in Prospect Heights/ Crown Heights) and that's saying a lot considering the completion. Also best atmosphere and bar tenders. If you can only hit one, make this your spot.

A shout out! to Joshua & the awesome staff of Gold Star Beer Counter! The perfect place to be after a day at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, or the Brooklyn Museum, or Prospect Zoo or Park. As a mechanical wheelchair user, they made sure I was comfortable, it was accessible, I had the perfect table outside in a beautiful spring day. Located in a lovely Brooklyn neighborhood.  You get a feel of the native NYC hospitality, courteous, & friendliness that many visitors are not familiar with. Topping it off with a thirst-quenching top rated beer in a relaxing vibe.  Cheers!

Gold Star Beer Counter has some of the best Craft Beer with rare batches from small local breweries. With a rustic interior, this spot is quite cozy and great for getting together with friends and baby friendly. I mean-- hey, you're in Hipsterville, so with that being said it's also acceptable to dock your bicycle/scooter/unicycle right outside the bar. Gold Star has a ton of growlers to-go and lots of great sandwiches and cheese platters. We sampled a few IPA's and grabbed 2 growlers to savor at home. Bring a deck of cards, a baby stroller and your beer goggles and you'll be all set!

In response to Jack P.'s negative review below: Hi Jack P. , I am the individual you are referring to in your recent post that was having a conversation with a local gentleman who I recently made the acquaintance of, although we started off perhaps on the wrong foot due to a misunderstanding that took place moments before your observation, the person you are accusing of being racist and ignorant of gender was also involved in the same conversation. The causal encounter while I was sitting on the bench that you describe has been thoroughly misinterpreted by you. I am responding to your post simply to clarify actually what happened which is not how you have described it. If you want to discuss further with me about what happened I'd love to grab a beer with you at gold star, my treat! Compassion, kindness, and communication triumph over all.

What a great spot right by the park! Came here around 930 or so, really stumbled across the spot, and it had a buzz but wasn't too busy so we were able to find a spot at the bar. They had a great assortment of beers, I asked for something hazy and they pointed me to "the Edward". They have a pretty good food menu as well, I ended up having the charcuterie sandwich, which was exactly what it sounds like, delicious

Good beer bar - great taps and some good snacks (try the almonds). A bit too many kids crawling around but hey it's Brooklyn.

Nice spot near the park entrance to grab some beers (either there or to go). Some outdoor seating but gets crowded quickly on nice days.

They've got a food menu and other drinks besides beer, including nonalcoholic options, but I was especially impressed with their tap selection and cans available in the fridge. Bartenders were awesome, and this place is great for having way more space than you'd expect when you first walk in! There's more seating past the bar in the back. The big differentiator is an outdoor patio area that's perfect for the nice weather. If I lived nearby I'd be out there pretty much all summer.

The crowd was friendly, welcoming, and in great spirits, which added to the overall vibe. They offer an excellent selection of beers along with a variety of wines. Maddy, the bartender, was fantastic and made the experience even better. She recommended the Hill Farmstead Double Mosaic IPA, and it did not disappoint... an outstanding choice. I also got the chance to meet one of the owners, Taylor, who was friendly & very knowledgeable on the beers. Thank you for a great conversation. Overall, this is a great spot that I can definitely see becoming one of my regular go-to places. Looking forward to many more visits. Thank you Maddie & Taylor See you soon.
