Island Lake Marine & Sports - Check valve on the left and filter on the right for $350.00 more dollars

Steven B. BEWARE: I got shafted royally by this place and as…read morefar as I'm concerned, they give Colorado a bad name. I have a Mercury 225hp outboard, my alarm was going off and I didn't know what was causing it, I call Island Lake Marina and made appointment for 008-15-2024. They told me my low-level oil float was stuck causing the alarm to sound off and that I would have to have the tank replaced because the float is built in and not replaceable. Its the small tank on the motor. But other than the alarm going off its okay to drive.. They charged me $150.00 ... Then told me another tank would cost $140.00 and an hour labor for installation $150.00, total $290.00. Brought it back on 10-02-2024 and went to pick it up on10-03-2024. The lady at the counter shows me the bill and I was totally stunned $730.08. I realize shops have a 10% give or take but this was ridiculous. I was told he put an inline filter, check valve and a cap where you pour the oil in to the main tank because the old one was hard to get off. $60.00 for those, for a total of $199.00 for parts, Adding another $60.00 to the original estimate, would bring it to $350.00. I was being charged over double. Screwing a cap on, small inline filter and check valve could be done by me in less than 15 minutes. That does not justify another $350.00 and I'm sure purging out the air was figured in on the original estimate. That has to be done on any tank replacement. Oh, and lets not forget the $150.00 I paid for them to say I need the tank, which should have been deducted since they did the work. Brings the total to $880.08 for replacing a tank with 3 bolts in it.. Then when we were hooking my boat up, my girl said the key was left in it in the on position. I get home, friends are waiting, hook up the water and all my batteries in it was dead as a door nail and would not turn over. Then I look down on the side they were working and my taillight on my trailer broken. I was so mad. I felt like I was sucker for punishment. Paid $880.08 , dead battery and broken light, for a $350.job... I will regret taking my boat there for a longtime or the rest of my life, since I'm over 65. Attached photos

Andy Gibson Knows his boats and was able to answer all our questions. Never felt pushed into buying and when we had it down to two boats he wanted us to test drive them to make sure we would be happy with our choice. (update) We just got our boat serviced (25hr) and again the service guys are the best! walked me through all the things that they checked or replaced and answered all my questions. Thanks Andy, looking forward to many happy boating years!!

Our company rented out the big island for a fun family event on a Friday afternoon/evening. We'd…read morebeen here many times before and it was always a good experience. I don't know if there's been a change in management but wow, have things gone downhill. The staff was okay but their manager, the one that coordinated our event, was rude, very difficult to work with, and it was next to impossible to get any response from her while we were planning the event. The day of the event, she wasn't friendly or welcoming at all. The place was dirty.....cat feces, dead bird (half eaten) on a lounge chair, other chairs and tables were not wiped down. The staff was responsive to cleaning up the feces and dead bird but it was not a good start to our event. I asked if the water trampolines were going to be filled with some air before all the guest starting arriving since they were only about half full. They said that that's just how they were. I'd always seen them fuller at previous events and was worried about them especially since they were covered in duct tape patches. About 2 hours into our event, I noticed that there was some commotion around one of the water tramps....it was sinking. One of the staff members came and told me to notify the guests to just use the other trampoline in the meantime and that they were sorry for the inconvenience. The Monday following our event, I learned form our legal dept. that the island staff contacted them for reimbursement of the water trampoline and paddle boat (which they were claiming sunk too). They claimed that our guests removed the air valve on the tramp and that kids intentionally sunk the paddle boat while their parents watched. I know our staff and their families very well and know that they would never act like that and they would not allow their children to act like that. This is just a bold face lie but even on the outside chance that it was true, not one island employee said anything to us about any inappropriate behavior. If we had known, we would've immediately talked to all that were involved and put a stop to that behavior. Personally, I believe that Island Promotions saw a large corporation with money in their pockets and thought that they might have found a way to buy new equipment at the expense of someone else. This makes me very sad that they decided to handle this matter so greedily. Our company had so enjoyed our summer picnics out there but we will never go back.
