My husband is a police officer who shops here frequently. Today, on Father's day, my son bought him a gift card to his favorite store. He accidentally left it on top of his car and drove away. A neighbor found it and tried to use it in her store. She immediately knew that it belonged to my family, retained the card and replaced the wallet that was also lost for free. This place is really great they have interesting stuff for military who like the civilian clothes with a security touch to them. No matter if it's a place to hide your weapon or a pair of dress pants you can roll around in the dirty during a like scalable. They also have fun stuff to like ear plugs, necklaces, pens and other random stuff that is made from ammo or rounds to a weapon they look really cool plus the have running shoes, hiking shoes or boots or many different styles. One of my favorite things they have here has got to be the medical packs and survivor bags they are great for camping or just a good bag to have for survival who knows when we go to close combat in the United States of what if there really is a zombie apocalypse omg yeah you're right I'm ready are you well I can't forget another thing they sell here is. Coffee I know right you are probably wondering why coffee so I'm not the biggest fan of coffee but WoW it's delish it's a veteran owned and operated company so besides that is taste so rich and good but don't use too much it can be too strong. I seriously don't understand the poor reviews related to customer service. My family just had an amazing experience! My dad has been on several occasions as well and has always had a great experience. We were immediately greeted upon entering the business. The store was very clean and organized. Any question I had was answered. The staff was very knowledgeable about the products in store and online. They were able to make suggestions based on my needs and questions. The women's selection was very small compared to men's. I was a little bummed out, but I'm sure this can be expected as this is a male dominated industry. Cool place. You can check out all the gear you see online and in catalogs. It was helpful to see how big a few of the backpacks were in person. Some of the range bags were a lot bigger than I expected. They're a little pricier than you'd find online but it's worth a few bucks to get to try stuff out before you buy it and not have the hassle of shipping things back and fourth. I would've left no stars if possible. 5.11 as a company is pretty good. However franchises are a different story. I recently received 2 gift cards for Christmas that were purchased from this location,(franchise). They are only good at this location which is asinine. Gift cards purchased from a McDonald's franchise, or a Chick Fil A franchise would be redeemable at any location. True to form, San Antonio has once again disappointed me as when I tried to use my 5.11 Gift cards at a 5.11 store in Houston I was told they don't work across stores. This will not dissuade me from future 5.11 purchases, but it sure does suck. Way to go San Antonio! read more

Took a couple of my kids to the store today...there wasn't another customer in the store. I do not live in San Antonio, so I didnt know about the mask rule. I opened the door and was told to exit the store. I said why, both the guys working screamed at me to get out and waving todays their mouths. Outside I opened the door, I asked did I need a mask. We went back to car and found 4 masks, when I walked back in I wasn't greeted, asked if I needed any help, and when I went to the register with my $188 in purchases, I asked about the mask, he boldly told me I could be fined a $1000, from his tone I could gather that he agreed with the fine. I dont understand why a store, a store that had at least 10 shirts on its shelves that say "liberty of death" allows this type of behavior from its staff. Those two limp wristed snowflakes need to be working at target, make that happen. It was Thursday April 23, at around 4:20.. Stopped in this evening after being sent there from the companies other store. I was their grand opening weekend, there was a lot of product to touch, feel and try on. While it is a *franchise store* there were plenty of 5.11 corporate representative on the floor to answer any questions. Got some good product information on clothes and some of their other tactical products. Made some purchases and ordered other clothing that they had run out of - it was the last hour of a grand opening weekend. I'm giving this store a 4 out of 5 based on customer service. I was trying to purchase a 5.11 nylon tactical gun belt kit (inner and outer belts w/ loops). I had ordered one online, but got a message long after I ordered it that it was "not in stock". Great! Why couldn't you let me know that BEFORE I ordered it and waited for 2 days thinking it was on its way? So now I have to scramble to find one of these belts for a job which starts the very next week (leaving no time to get one delivered through Standard Mail). I went to this store to purchase this 5.11 nylon Tactical Belt Kit because I had already tried the Nardis Gun Store/Range on I-10, which was closer to me and opened earlier, but they didn't have these belts. Great! Sooo....off I go to this store, which means driving through more San Antonio traffic, which I was not looking forward to (I don't live there). I already knew where this store's location was from looking it up that morning just in case the Nardis store couldn't deliver, and arrived at the store a little early and waited for them to open at 10AM. Got in the store, went straight to the main counter and asked where the Duty Belts were. Guy at the counter showed me where they were. Perfect! I can grab the size that fits me and get out of town. I went back to where the belts were, but did not see the 5.11 Belt Kits, just some random 5.11 belts. I went straight back to the counter and asked if they carried entire gun belt kits. There was one woman behind the counter that immediately asked what I was specifically looking for. I told her, and she led me to a different location in that store where the 5.11 nylon belt kits were. Great! I can get my item and get out of town! Except...no...they only had one of these things and it was nowhere near my size. I'm starting to wonder if these damn belt kits are more rare than diamonds at this point!!! She tells me she is going to call the other 5.11 store in San Antonio and find out if they have my size. She calls, talks to the other store, finds out they DO have my size there, she asks me for my name, and she has the other store put one on hold for me. So...Good customer service, right? Except...we're not done... She asks for my cell phone, puts the location of the other store on my phone, and gives me exact directions to put me at the front door of the other store (It was in a very large shopping mall area). Her directions were PERFECT! So, for serious, awesome, customer service, I am giving this store a 4 out of 5. I would give it 5 out of 5, but they do seem to be low on certain inventory items, so I can't give a "perfect" score. Even though I don't live in San Antonio, any other 5.11 type item I need, I will now personally go drive to this store to get (although I might call first to order/reserve the item before I spend up to 2 hours driving through traffic to get there and back). So, thank you Kaila, you were AWESOME!!! P.S. In response to some of the people who have left negative reviews about this store because they "didn't get timely help", or "the employees were just standing around talking to each other", I have some advice... Stop just standing there vacantly looking around, and go talk to one of the employees. They seem like they have no problem at all helping. I would be just like one of the employees of this store if I worked there. If I saw you enter, and you just walked on past the counter without saying or asking anything, I would assume that you knew what you were doing, that you knew what you were looking for, and that you didn't want to be bothered by a salesperson. I can promise that when I'm shopping, I don't want some salesperson hanging over me! So...if you go in this store and walk right past the counter without saying anything, the employees are not going to bust an aorta rushing over to you to stand over your shoulder the entire time you're there. Careful when buying these expensive items - they do NOT take any refunds. Our receipt did not mention this. We purchased an expensive coat but after taking it home to try on over the clothing we'd wear with it, turns out it wouldn't fit. They did not refund our money and weren't interested in working with us. There are so many other options. Not offering refunds is pretty dumb. We are not shopping there again! read more

A good selection of 5.11 brand clothes but poor customer service. You are better off shopping at the 5.11 online store for superior deals and customer service. While this place is branded as a "5.11" store it is more of a "partnership" with the official 5.11 brand store rather than a branch of 5.11. You could benefit from using this location to try on sizes and such but I would not buy from them. Something else I found off putting, and relates to my customer service critique, is that a few of the employees put off a "weekend warrior" vibe, that is coupled with a touch of attitude and is rather eye roll inducing. read more

The plan was to take my boy there to find something he might like being that he's into the military at this age. Sunday morning about 11 AM we walked in to man and the lady behind the counter talking about random things.We walked in, I waited a few seconds with no acknowledgment I then said "good morning". I waited another two seconds no response so I authoritatively said "good morning!". They all stopped and stared at me. As if I was interrupting them and their conversation about Facebook, Instagram, Xbox gaming or whatever it was that was the topic of the day. Almost immediately the lady ask "is there something I can help you find". I said that we were just browsing. Sadly we didn't find anything to purchase and we left. The only acknowledgment I really got was on leaving the premises and older gentleman nodded and smiled at me as I left. To the team at 5:11 tactical: please be aware of people entering your store and acknowledge them accordingly. There is absolutely no reason in the world a customer should say good morning first let alone see you twice to warrant a response. And when your responses given please do not immediately jump in and ask if I'm looking for something specific. Customer service protocols dictate a customer comes to the employee first for questions or concerns. It is only after about 5-10 minutes of browsing that an employee may approach a customer and ask if they need help. You never know who walks through your door shabby looking or otherwise therefore please don't judge. Best of luck read more

What better way to get ready for a deployment by scouring this place a few times!? Over three visits now, I'm pleasantly surprised by the variety and stock of items they offer including a separate multicam section for diehard tacticool wannabes. In other words, that's a good thing considering they tailored their selection for mostly any outdoor adventure including door-kicking and FOB-hopping. You'll find clothing, boots, socks, belts, tops, tac polos, knives, assorted Yeti cooler gear, douchy logo shirts, and hunting garb on top of other stuff like douchy/meant-to-be-funny Velcro hat patches and the tiny stuff you might randomly need. The spaces are ample and the staff is helpful, albeit slightly intimidating in that they're all wearing what they sell and can probably kill you in your sleep. That's no way to end a review, so here - if you're going on a tactical adventure, check them out - worth it because it's either them or a varying degree of supply stores or gun shows. read more

We were in from out of town and my husband wanted to buy some shoes at 5.11 Tactical. Just as other reviewers posted there was zero Customer Service. There was at least 3 people working, no other Customers, and we were completely ignored. When we sought them out to ask a question we got a one word response and then he looked right back down at his paperwork and ignored us. I went here to get a pair of female 5.11's and being a small female who's short I always have issues. Well the staff was extremely helpful. They initially told me they wouldn't have my length, which wasn't surprising because that's 90% of places, but then helped me find exactly the size and cut that I was looking for. He gave me a couple different pants and also helped with different sizes when asked. They had a wonderful selection of everything in the store. My friend and I walked into the San Antonio location and got treated way differently than other customers in there. Didn't get greeted or asked if we needed help with anything. There was only a few other customers in there, so it wasn't overly busy. The manager seemed to be joking around with one of the female customers, who later I saw him give his card to. I just left the gym, was in workout gear. Can't help but get the feeling we got treated the way we did because we were black dudes in baggy shorts. Manager kept staring at me to. The store lacked a good selection of product and isn't welcoming of different varieties of people, that's for sure. Never going back to 5.11 for any of my EMT gear, or anything else for that matter, again. read more
