Updated review - 5/5 We are now regular customers of 5 Borough and absolutely love it. Their bagels are fantastic and they sell at one of the local coffee shops too. Breakfast sandwich's are amazing and loaded with cream cheese! The eggs are perfect I've had iced coffee a few more times and the lids still leak, but I just take the lid off and it's fine. Support this local business at their many locations! They have an app now to order ahead and it's easy to use.

Delightful experience! Firstly, super fast delivery of food. Absolutely love the consistency of traveling to every one of these locations! Secondly, service was so great! Everyone was super kind - I wanted a vanilla Carmel drink and the barista was accommodating mixing me up my own concoctions. Truly love visiting and the husband couldn't stop swooning over the lemonade. We love eating here for breakfast stops as this means non-greasy foods and fast delivery.

Wow! This place gets busy on Saturday morning! I did see lots of takeout orders and there is outdoor seating. All were happy with their bagels, cream cheese, and breakfast sandwiches. The coffee is good too- guessing a medium blend.

This is the best latte iv ever had in my whole life!!! 5 star

The workers were extremely nice too. The food taste so good. The place is very clean. I will for sure be coming here again

Placing an order for a fresh pepper jack bagel with turkey, cream cheese and spinach was quick, tasteful and well garnished with fresh veggies. As you enter you are welcomed with a cheerful "May I help you?" The small serving area has a few tables for a quick sit down breakfast or lunch order in a clean and pleasant surrounding. Parking is tight, but the prices are reasonable for the portion of trimmings placed on the bagel. A good stop for a simple and no fuss meal.

I got a sausage egg and cheese bagel sandwich and it was pretty mid. It was okay but far from anything to write home about. Bagels tasted like just your middle of the road store bought bagels and it would've been pretty easy to make a better sandwich at home.

Yup, I'm being super extra with my fave Bagel shop's new sandwich! Looove the new "Chawn-Mi" sandwich with their own special "Sarinade" marinade on the pork and pickled veggies among other deliciousness in it. The only thing missing for me was jalapeños which I remedied myself with some fresh sliced ones stuffed inside. The kiddos still love the blueberry bagels (sadly they ran out of the French Toast ones) but paired with their blueberry, strawberry or veggie cream cheese is the bestttt breakfast, lunch, brunch sandwich. Go get you some! But go tomorrow cause they closed at 2pm. btw their coffee and water mugs/tumblers/bottles ! I was able to add to my fave 5 Borough Bagels tumbler collection today! Thank you Toney & Sarah! Can't wait for the new location which will be closer to us! P.S. please keep the Chawn Mi on the menu!!

I asked Google for a breakfast recommendation this morning and this is where we ended up going, as it was #1 on the list that came up. We hadn't had bagels for a while so thought it sounded good. The building is a little hidden and isn't directly accessible from University. From the outside it doesn't look like anything special (see pictures) but once you get inside it is impressive (see pictures). I was looking for something with a little spice, so the last at the counter recommended the Bronx (see pictures). It was delicious and a good balance of a little spice kick along with the bacon, lettuce and tomato...and a creamy spread. They also have a great choice selection with a lot of flavored syrups to choose from. This is a great stop for a morning sandwich. I'm not going to try not to bore you all with a lot of details today. I'm just going to say if you like a good pastrami sandwich, and you haven't grabbed a Hot Pastrami on an Everything bagel ( $8.95) at 5 Borough Bagels... You're really missing out. The Hot Pastrami used to be a limited availability item... I noticed it posted over on their Facebook page and had to make a stop by on lunch today to give it a try. Nestled in the same strip mall as Club Car 5 Borough Bagels is a cozy order and pay at the counter type of place. The seating and atmosphere inside gives it a very comfortable feel. With the Everything bagel, the pastrami itself, the mustard, and the pickles... The included cheese is kind of overshadowed, but I still noticed the slight texture change-up of the cheese in a bite. This little sandwich is a huge explosion of flavor. If breakfast is more your thing.... Check out The Empire. Good stuff. And Toney and Sarah are great people.

All orders are set up as to-go. We ordered a bagel sandwich and a breakfast bowl planning to sit and eat. The meal came out in plastic bowl and wrapped sandwich in a paper sack. Every thing is throw away and not in compostable containers. I asked for hot sauce and it came in a packet! Hot sauce in a packet! There was not enough hot sauce to add flavor to the breakfast bowl, and I tried. Tables were previously sat at and not wiped off. Not the cleanest place and there was staff walking around, they were not short staff by any means. Staff didn't really interact with customers- more within themselves and talking and joking loudly behind the counter. Been there done that. Next.

Plain bagel with NY Cheesecake was fabulous! The sausage egg and cheese was ok not much spice to the sausage! Cute cocoa drink.

I was in town from Kansas visiting my MIL and every time I drove by this place it always had a line out the door. My husband and I were intrigued so we stopped. So glad we did! I asked and found some great info about this place. This Bagel Shop serves freshly baked New York style bagels since 2016. Proudly locally owned & operated, Sarah and Toney take pride in their carbs. They offer 12 delicious bagel flavors and 12 house made cream cheeses that are blended daily with all fresh ingredients. I had to try the breakfast bowl with hash browns, sausage, ham, bacon and topped with cheese. Jon tried the bagel with sausage and bacon. Putting this place down as a must when we come back Remember to always support local where ever you are!!

Staten Island- normally poppy seed bagel but I needed to order gluten free, veggie cream cheese, ham, turkey and pickles

I know, I know when you see the word bagel in the name you think O nothing fancy. You couldn't be more wrong!! My eyes were opened to a whole new world of bagels! Their not just for breakfast. So many varieties of flavor, cream cheeses, gluten free, vegan, etc!! There were also so many different varieties of hot and cold drinks. The breakfast sandwiches looked amazing but it was mid-afternoon. My daughter had been wanting to try this place and definitely not disappointed! I wish there was more room though, especially seating options as very crowded when in line ordering or waiting. Would highly suggest to plan on grab and go for this place. Also plan on either having leftovers or a big appetite as the bagels are enormous!

As has been the case on each of our visits, the food and atmosphere were off the charts. The service wasn't quite as prompt this morning as what I've become accustomed to, but the experience was still great. Best of all...I saw that they now have a daily Happy ("Flocktail") Hour everyday before they close - and it is a 50% Off special - so now I can add them to HappyHourDesMoines.com also!! Today, my wife ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and a Bloody Mary (see pictures) - and with all of the new items on the menu, our friend ordered the Smoked Corn Beef Hash (see picture) and I went with the Healthy Hatch Tacos (see picture). I swapped one of my tacos with our friend for 1/2 of his hash, sampled my wife's Chicken Fried Steak - and can assure you that you will NOT go wrong ordering any of them, as all were absolutely delicious!

Everything was clean and service was friendly. They have lots of cool merchandise and several to-go beers. They do serve food but I didn't try any. I only had a beer because I wasn't at my final destination but they have a pretty wide variety with lots of different styles. I went with one of their flagship beers-the Neon Hazy IPA. I really enjoyed it and even got some to go so that I could enjoy back in KC. Next time I'm passing through, I'm definitely going to stop and hopefully plan a little better so that I can try more beer and food.

I had experienced Barn Town at a beer festival and researched them before visiting town, so I know the experimental candy-influenced collabs are kind of their thing. The PB and Grape Jelly sour was nice and the Watermelon Sour Batch Buddies was the best of the State Fair themed bunch. Everything else packed too much of a flavor punch for me... to the point of upsetting my stomach which NEVER happens when I drink beer. I would actually go back and try some of their flagship (normal) beer offerings and food specials to get a more well rounded opinion of the brewpub.

There's carpet throughout the dining area, which unfortunately makes the whole place feel a little dingy and dated. One of the coolest things about the restaurant is actually outside. It's located near what used to be a farm, and there's a chicken coop along with a nice herb and vegetable garden that you can walk through. It was a fun and unexpected thing to explore while waiting for our food, especially with a kid. The food itself was very hit or miss, and nothing really wowed our group. I ordered the sirloin medium rare, but it came out closer to medium, and I didn't think the quality of the steak was particularly good for the price. The presentation was also a little odd, with the steak served on a very well-used tin-style plate that had definitely seen better days. Other dishes were mixed as well. The onion strings were a hit, and one person really enjoyed the Reuben. The corn was excellent, and most of us liked the coleslaw and rolls. There was also pieces of spice cake or pumpkin bread tucked underneath the rolls, which was an unusual but surprisingly nice addition. On the other hand, the liver was dry, the prime rib was fattier than expected with quite a bit that wasn't really edible, and the mashed potatoes were very dry and bland. They also bring several family-style sides to the table whether you order them or not, including things like cottage cheese. It felt a little strange and somewhat wasteful since we didn't want or touch some of it, and overall it creates a LOT of food on the table. The meal wasn't particularly inexpensive either. Before tip, we spent about $70 for two adults and a child, which felt pretty steep considering the overall quality of the food. I will give them credit for the country store area. These types of restaurant gift shops can sometimes be filled with a lot of random junk, but this one actually had some interesting Iowa and farm-themed items that were fun to browse. Service was perfectly good, but overall this was more of an interesting one-time experience for us than somewhere I'd be eager to return to. We were invited here rather than choosing it ourselves, and I'm glad we tried it, but there are too many better dining options in the Des Moines area for me to be clamoring to come back.
