Well sure, it's not exactly fast food. And yeah, it's kind of weird that Indian cuisine would be…read moreavailable with beef options. And the guy inside is definitely a curmudgeon - he scolded a guy in front of me one day for wandering away from the truck and not coming back as soon as his food was ready. But as a man who loves spicy food, I am a fan of this truck. The guy seems to make extra sure that I know what I'm getting into when I ask for my food extra spicy, and rightfully so, because it's some of the spiciest goddamn food I've ever had in my life. And the extra waiting time has a purpose, in that it translates to a piping hot container of food. He wouldn't let me take it without a bag. I haven't tried anything that wasn't insanely spicy, but I know for sure that he's got spicy down pat. And believe it or not, the beef is pretty good.

Looking at the menu the reason this place sucks is because of the cook…read more Indian food, simplified for Americans and oversimplified for Indians, is North and South. North Indians/ best chefs are from the Punjab region- they don't cook so many beef dishes. I suspect this person is either a Bangladeshi or from Kerala. Neither are good at cooking North Indian. South Indian/ go to a South Indian run place for that food. They know what they are doing. In short this truck is not run or cooked by the person with the right culinary construction.

They often come out to sell their pies in front of Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company. That was where I got my hands on one of their Jack-O-Lantern pies, which is their seasonal pumpkin cheesecake offering. It was the best seasonal item I had all autumn. It was amazing. I made a fool of myself wolfing it down. And guess what? I would do it again, and again, and - you get my point. Don't second guess it, just one.

The crust was flakey and terrific. I could eat these all day. The Croquw Monsieur came with homemade creamed cabbage, which was tangy and tasty. I also tried a chocolate almond pie. This was also very good. The chocolate was dark and rich, and paired well with the almond. The pie was served with whipped cream, which tasted homemade. While the chocolate pie was good, I don't think I would order it again. I was interested in the description, but I tend to prefer fruit pies, and I am kicking myself for not trying their apple pie. Soon. I tried Pie-Stand recently at the Chinatown Night Market. My understanding is that they are typically in Fishtown. I'm not sure if the pies were changed at all for the night market, but I tried two hand pies. I think I paid something like $12 for 2 pies. The owners, or staff, or whoever was in the stand were really friendly and seemed passionate about what they do. I can't wait to try some more of their pies. I'll keep a look out whenever I am in Fishtown.
