They offer private farm tours, carriage rides, a bed & breakfast, a wedding chapel and lots of flowers to enjoy. My family went on the carriage ride with Brian and Barbie. They use an original carriage from the 1800s which has been updated with fiberglass wheels and hydraulic breaks. The carriage is drawn by Moses and Aaron (Gypsy Vanner Cross horses). The ride takes about one hour along a mountain gravel road. For portions of the ride, Brian & the horses kick up the speed to around 40 mph. It's pretty cool and exhilarating. A fun family friendly experience. The kids enjoyed petting the animals. They have a donkey, a pony, fainting goats, chickens and pheasants. You'll also find daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, a type of cherry blossom and other flowers.

Their lavender fields are in full bloom beginning in June, so I have got to go back in a couple of weeks to see those! They offer one of the largest lavender fields in the southeast covering five acres. If you want to pick your own lavender, you must purchase tickets ahead of time on their website to reserve your spot. They also offer fresh flower bouquets for purchase in the cottage shop, as well as tons of handcrafted lavender products (made in house straight from field to jar). I wanted to buy everything as I am a huge proponent of clean, natural skincare ingredients and theirs are only made with the purest, highest quality ingredients. Can't wait to take another drive up to Dahlonega for a second visit!

How can this place be improved adding more activities for people to do. Improving the tractor ride sitting area the wood is loose (lost screws and it's a bit poking). It is owned by a gentleman named Smokey and he allows many people to host many different events. Check the website for dates and you might find an event you enjoy. About the property, it is 200 plus acres near the base of Pigeon and Lookout Mountains near Lafayette, GA. I'll be honest I live in north west Georgia and I find this to be a beautiful part of the state that isn't overdeveloped. The property is partly wooded and partly covered with rolling hills meadows. In the summer you always see tons of blue birds and gold finches. In the main meadow there is a rustic stage where I have seen many bands play late into the night under the stars. It is a magic place to see music. Usually Smokey will arrange for a huge bonfire so when the music stops you can gather around the bonfire and commune with kindred spirits until late in the night. If you get a chance to enjoy something at Cherokee Farms DO IT! I'm particularly fond of T-Dawg Hootenannies and Roots Fest!

It is a working farm and the storefront is well marked. We rang the bell and a lady came out to help us. We selected some hanger steak, strips, and a sirloin. They offered a discount on frozen steaks while we were there, but also had a large selection of fresh steaks. We found the prices to be very reasonable. For the next three nights we had steak for dinner. I was truly impressed with the flavor profile of this grass fed beef. I am normally a grain fed guy, but these steaks were incredible. I eat hanger steak regularly and the hanger steak we had was the most flavorful hanger I have ever tasted. It was so good, that I went back and stocked up on 10 lbs to take home. We also found that you can purchase their beef online and have it shipped. Highly recommend if in the area and I will definitely be ordering some more steak once I go through this beef that I brought home. Awesome resource.
