Partly we order from 5 star often because it's really close to our house, but that said, the pizza is also very tasty! They have a number of different specialty pies that are very good - our favorite is the chicken marenga, which has roasted red peppers, jalepenos, and mushrooms. The white pizza and chicken alfredo pizza are also good. My husband loves the Hawaiian, but I'm not a huge fan of the bacon (in addition to ham and pineapple). The salads are pretty good, as are the jalepeno poppers, but mostly we just get pizza. read more

I've ordered here a few times and results have varied. I had a really delicious veal parm sub a few months ago, but the two times I've ordered the same thing since then it's been really disappointing. Over cooked seems to be the issue. The pizza is ok and the toasted raviolis are usually pretty good, unless they are also over cooked on those random occasions. So when they're good, they're really good. But it's been too inconsistent and I don't think I'll be taking that risk anymore when there are so many good pizza and sub places that have proven themselves over time. read more

Everyone seems nice working there. It's always empty when I go there.. Tried the meatball sub and it was very bland. The buffalo chicken sub was ok, basically buffalo fingers thrown in a sub roll. Chicken parm was kinda soggy. But at 5 bucks for a small sub, it's good to go with coupons from those menu ordering sites on the net or AMEX small business Saturday and stuff like that. The service was great and fast but the quality of the food is terrible. I ordered an 18" pizza with broccoli, spinach, mushrooms and chicken and a greek salad. The salad was most iceberg lettuce, barely any veges, like 3 olives, 2 pieces of tomato and drowning in feta cheese. The dressing comes in a packet which has high fructose corn syrup. The pizza: the crust was terrible quality, like thin, weak tasting stale white bread. The sauce was tasteless and the vegetables were overcooked and the chicken was totally dried out. As the pizza cooled it got worse. If you like QUALITY food and really enjoy a good slice, this is NOT the place for you. If you are more into substantial quantity then this is the place for you. I have never had a worse take out experience, ever in my 45 years on this planet. They delivered my food 2 hours after I had ordered it, and all I wanted was two baked zitis with cheese. They threw the food into a bag and left no forks or napkins at all. The delivery man was visibly high, and when I complained about the slow service, he replied with "yeah, yeah, whatever". So i recently moved to Quincy, and was looking for a good takeout spot and this was the first one i tried being that it is a 3 min walk from my house. I had the spicy bbq wings and omg!!!! They were the best wings I've had....My step father used to go to wing it to get his wings but now comes here.... The employees are super nice especially Joe. He is always very welcoming and has a smile on his face. I eat the pizza there and its okay not my favorite but it good. My bf and I order from here every single time I'm up here from CT (every two weeks) and sometimes twice in one wknd. We always get the spicy BBQ wings and get a mix of teriyaki/hot (wish they would put spicy teriyaki on the menu), curly fries and garlic bread. Haven't found a better wing place yet but I will say that the service is horrible! I ordered here for lunch and they forgot my sauce for the wings. I called back and the girl said she didn't think it came with any but she'd have them deliver some. 10 mins later I here the doorbell and open it to an older man going back to his car yelling "next time you pay! You want extra sauce- you pay!" :::I literally had the money in my hand::: and politely let him know they never put ANY with my order. He just left the sauce on my doorstep. Fantastic service. I had to drop these guys another star cause they have fallen WAY off the cliff over the last year. The food didn't made me physically ill, so they avoided the drop to one star. Used to be, you could count on the wings, even if the pizza was sub-standard. Three of the last four times I ordered "well done" or "light on sauce" the wings came swimming. Moreover their Gyro pita, which used to be an acceptable version, has become terrible. Dry ungrilled pita, almost no meat, mayonnaise masquerading as Tzitziki. I recently ordered their steak sandwich and it was also terrible (mainly because of the poor bread)...The last two reasons I had to order from this place (wings and gyros) have just vanished. I'll stick with Papas for cheap pizza delivery and if I want good wings, I'll swing by Fat Cat and get a beer with them. read more

Since I noticed that the previous review of 5 Star Pizza was written in February 2012, I've decided to give my July 2012 experience from way back in the day. 5 Star Pizza is like the one girl you meet at a party who would put out, but lord forbid any of your friends sees you with her. The food here could be fresher. Stale, soggy, and doughy pizza is not my cup of tea, but then again I've seen much worse in Quincy. Anyway since I live in Quincy I know what appeals to *most* natives based on my personal experiences, I can't talk for everybody so bear that in mind. Anyway 5 star is an OK place at best. You know that feeling when you're really hungry so you order food and after the first few bites you realize that it's not as good as you thought it would be? That's exactly how 5 star is. Come to think of it, all of my friends/families aren't too fond of their food since it's not that popular, but yet I see a handful of decent reviews. Interesting. Being a food lover I thought that it would be unfair for anyway to eat here without hearing both sides of the story ( or the review technically). There are better/cleaner/fresher restaurants located near by, trek the extra half mile to Hancock st and you will see at least a dozen real "restaurents" to choose from. In conclusion I don't think I would ever eat here again since there are so many other places to go to. Food is not that good, restaurant is dirty, and the employees aren't very people-orientated (kind of a buy something or gtfo attitude). Then again since there are better places to choose from, there really is no reason why Five Star can't be as good as them. read more

Ordered twice from hotel asked for plates and parm and hot pepper packs. Didn't get them called pack and they could care less. Said they would send driver back after a $8 tip . And just blew us off. We've only ordered their cheese, pepperoni, and 5 star special pizza and a hamburger meal from here so the review is based on that. Best out of all the pizza places we've tried in Quincy so far (been in the area for just 7mos). Delivery is fast and super-customer focused (i missed them one time b/c i ordered on my way home and they got to my house before I did and they came back without complaining, even worked with me to set the best time to return; a drink was missing from one ordered and even though I was ok with letting it go - was a free drink from coupon - they came back with it). The pizza is very good - tasty, cheesy, and the meats and veggies are fresh and tasty. They've become our go-to place for family pizza nights. I didn't give 5 stars because the cheeseburger I had in their restaurant was nothing special - and the restaurant eating area is super cramped. While out shopping the weekend before Christmas, I made a spontaneous decision to order a pizza to take home for dinner. I called to order before going into the supermarket. When I went in to pick it up, the man automatically handed me the pizza box- which showed they don't have a lot of walk-in business... but fine, they probably do mostly delivery? Well, once I ate the pizza, it was clear why they don't have a lot of walk-in business. It was horrible! As a few other posters have said, there's something oddly tangy about the sauce. We don't like to waste food and usually finish things even if we don't love them, but this one ended up in the trash. I go in at Five Star pizza every Tuesday and I get it delivered when i cant make those times and all i can say its absolutely amazing. The pizza and wings are to die for especially the buffalo wings, best wings you could ask for. The staff is always so friendly and make me feel at home when i go there. Everything is clean, fast and cheap! So much food for such a low price. i would definitely recommend this place. Oh another one of mt favorites is the steak and cheese subs.
