I wouldn't give this place even one star. There should be a minus sign. Had dinner reservations last night for our 20th Anniversary. When we arrived, we weren't even looked at, just eyes up , no welcome, may we help you, nothing...the blond hostess was teaching a young girl (poor girl) ..I finally said, we had a reservation and gave my name....she asked if we wanted to sit outdoors. It was windy and raining. I said no, table for two in the dining room....there were rows of empty twos but she took us to the back area next to a large noisy party of more than 10...I refused the table and was told they had nothing else so I should take that one or sit outside. How dare she. Because it was our Anmiversary, I didn't want to ruin the evening so we left, got our car and went to Tramonti instead. Was treated royalty and had wonderful evening. We are two woman and I strongly believe she treated us this poorly because of this fact. It was an Anniversary dinner and she expected a man, woman couple. This treatment was unacceptable. ... Extremely over priced for what we had. I had the lobster caesar salad $40.00 it was a large bowl of chopped romaine with some lobster chunks, nothing special not even presentation. I could have easily opened a bag of caesar salad tossed and threw chunks of lobster meat on it and it would have looked better and tasted better. Our server all she did was upsell everything, so her recommendations were price based and nothing else. I come here for happy hour where I have ALWAYS gotten a great bloody mary, last night the lady behind the bar couldn't make a good one, so I asked for horseradish, olives, and celery salt and she had no idea what that was, yet during happy hour they have it available. We are sorely disappointed in our recent visit tonight to 50 Ocean. We have only been coming for one year when we get to Delray Beach, and we had made this our favorite find in the area. We have brought friends here in the past and had another set of friends in town and booked a dinner out. We saw on the menu online that the menu has changed completely and the favorites for lunch such as lobster salad, sweet potato salad and fish tacos (which were the best we had ever found) were gone. When we got there tonight, we were seated in the private room which was nice however our waitress seemed to spoil the mood for us. When we asked about the appetizer happy hour, her comment was "that's only for the bar" in such a dry tone, we almost felt ashamed to ask. We went to order dinner and wanted to get a simple chicken breast for our daughter with mashed potatoes. We were informed there is no chicken except for pulled chicken; the potatoes are "smashed" not mashed so our daughter wouldn't eat. We ordered her the chicken soup and we all got different appetizers, salads and entrees. This is where it went downhill: the chicken soup was horrible! Tasted like French onion soup with chicken. Don't expect traditional soup here. The grouper was so dry and there was no sauce. The swordfish was dry as well, except there was sauce. The prawn was okay as well as the short ribs. This part was even worse. Chef Mike came out and discussed the changes and said he was taking he menu into a more Filipino style and appreciated the criticisms and said the lobster tacos were "better" than the fish tacos because everyone does fish tacos. The waitress came back and said that Chef Mike wanted to treat us to dessert to entice us to come back. We ordered the beignets, the truffle garden, 2 key lime parfaits and smores. When that came out, they were pretty good desserts. However, when the bill came we were charged for everything but the truffle garden. We also were charged for a root beer that one of the kids asked for but changed to a milk prior to the waitress leaving. She even brought it out and realized that the order changed. So ultimately, we realized this is not the 50 Ocean that we had discovered last year. The new 50 Ocean really does not reach any type of "luxury dining" that we have enjoyed in the past. In fact, we would much rather eat next door at BurgerFi and enjoy the meal and we know what we are getting. Save a trip and find a new place to go to. read more

For those going for the Flavor Palm Beach menu: My boyfriend and I went last night excited to try the dinner menu listed on the FPB special menu. It was the whole reason we went rather than picking someplace closer to home. Upon being seated just after 6:30 and asking about the menu, the host came back to inform us they stop serving that at 6 p.m. Confused, we asked our server, who noted the "dinner" menu is only served from 4:45 to 6 p.m. nightly. This information is not listed anywhere on the FPB website. Our server was very apologetic and said he would be fixing that error with FPB. With that disappointment aside, we enjoyed a wonderful meal with a fantastic view and great service. Still, it would have been nice to get the menu we came for. read more

This place has a great view and that's about it. Just ate here for lunch and felt compelled to write a review about how bad my experience was. We were seated at a table near the window with a great view and after that everything went down hill. We both ordered the burger. The burger and fries here is $15 which is overpriced but we figured it must be great. Boy, were we wrong. The food finally came out after what felt like an eternity. The table next to us arrived after us and received their food before us. The burgers were small and we were shocked that it was $15 for the portion size. The service was also terrible. The waiters were very slow, they were clearly understaffed. We had to ask for refills and it took so long just to get extra ketchup that my fries were cold by the time I got the ketchup. After we finished eating, the waiter took our plates and dropped the ketchup which got all over my shorts and leg. Granted it was a mistake, the manager did not make things right. He offered us a 20% discount even though we expressed how disappointed we were with the food and my shorts were covered in ketchup. It is truly disheartening this place would hire a manager that would not have basic customer service skills. He could have at least covered my meal after my shorts went from being beige to red. Instead we are out over $40 for a really crappy meal. I would not recommend this place at all and definitely will not be returning. read more

I love the location,view and the staff but the food is terrible I'm sorry to say. I have been here many times and when it 1st opened the food was very good but the last few times over the years it has declined . This time as I remember the last, the food was sooooo salty. Not only 1 dish but two I had to send back and that is not something that I do. The seared wahoo was fishy and very salty and so was the pasta dish . We were looking for a different place to go for our last vacation night in Delray- 5 of us including 2 teens decided to try this place and were so happy we did! We had a beautiful view of the beach and they offered us a choice of indoor or outdoor seating with the cold evening. We immediately we offered drinks and bread was on the table shortly after. Our server Zach was great, had nice suggestions and always checked back with us. Lobster bisque has nice pieces of lobster on top and salads were generous. Both the fish dishes and steaks were great and nicely presented. The homemade beignets desserts were amazing -a must. I like that they have 3 separate places with separate atmospheres in the same place -nice options. Overall wonderful experience and we told all our friends to come back. Pretty bad when the valet guy was the highlight. We live in Delray and we have been giving this place a chance again after not going in for a few years. We gave it 4x in the last 2 months at the bar and table service. Well we are done. Both the service and attitudes at the bar and tables are not welcoming nor efficient. And the attitude is "we are doing you a favor." The food is not enough to make up for this. However, the valet guy is very professional and friendly. First time here having dinner and could not have been a better experience. Service was outstanding to start with. Excellent cocktails at a fair price. Grilled octopus was it was tender and flavorful as I've ever even and the roasted potatoes set my dish off perfectly. My hubby and I love this place during the day for the view of the ocean and at nite for the atmosphere. My favorite dish is the coconut snapper, it comes with coconut risotto served in a coconut. I have had breakfasts such as eggs over (cooked perfectly) and Poached eggs over corned beef hash and English muffins with Hollandaise the food is excellent. The complimentary sides of hash browns and choice of bread are excellent. 2 eggs with those sides is just $5.95. I have had salads and many sandwiches. one of my favorites is 1/2 lb. hamburger, juicy and perfectly spiced and cooked with wonderful savory fries - crispy and soft inside They are even good cold. Sunday brunch with the family. The view is wonderful but call ahead for a reservation. We didn't and were placed in the back. FYI: 3 tables were open the entire time we ate. Strange. The restaurant is pretty, clean, and open. Cons: I think there was a little confusion on who our server was. The first waitress approached our table and took our drink orders. Then, someone else (server 2) came by and took our food order. She left, server 1 dropped our drinks off and asked for our food order. We explained that someone had already taken our food order. No problem but then we didn't see anyone for a LONG time. I think they forgot about us?! The hubs (finally!) flagged down a guy (busser?) and asked for more coffee. I watched as the busser asked a server about refilling the coffee. He wasn't one of the two that had been to our table and wasn't interested in helping. I watched him just stand there, doing nothing while the busser tried to find "our server". 5 minutes later server #2 brought coffee to the table. Service was slow but friendly. Pros: The food is wonderful. I had the B.E.L.T (bacon confit pork belly, egg, arugula, tomato jam, Brie) with the strawberry arugula salad. I could only eat half. It was a very large portion and scrumptious! My husband and son each had a burger. They were both cooked perfectly. My other kiddo had the deep dish vanilla malt pancake. Not your typical pancake. Had brunch today and experienced one of my top 10 in horrible service. I felt like we were an annoyance to our server. Asked for several items that never arrived. Food was just ok. Nice view of the ocean, but you could have a better view with a couple of sandwiches and some water on the sand. This is my third, and last, time here. First 2 times weren't much better. I give up. AFTER THREE TIMES, AMBIANCE IS ALL THEY HAVE Spectacular View on the 2nd Floor over looking the street and then on to the beach - they have carpeting and it is quiet compared to most "cafeterias" these days - and it is quaint, small and has an aquarium as the top of one side of the bar. Being owned by the OPAL COLLECTIONS RESORTS out of Maine, that also owns Latitudes in Delray Beach, I had a high level of expectation for food and service. However: They act like a chain restaurant - with the server coming by every 5 minutes to interrupt by asking, "IS EVERYTHING ALL RIGHT" - and was he loud ! The food is below average - not just because I have highly sensitive taste buds, but because: - I had a lobster salad that was a Caesar salad with below average dressing loaded with mayo, was served ONLY with the claws of the lobster (which have little taste), and had complete cooked teardrops of garlic in the salad - Another time, I had Grouper sandwich - the bread was stale - and I would have liked to see whether the bag it came in was from Asia, or South America, as it was NOT grouper Dinner was alright, extremely expensive but make sure you get their before sunset, as there are no lights on the beach - and then you see nothing outside. read more

We had the swordfish which was amazing. The octopus was also very delicious. We also had the ceviche and hummus. Nothing we had was less then good. Everyone at the table loved their food...and we had 22 people with us for my fiance's bday. Fortunately, we attempted to get reservations for Sunday brunch at numerous other places (that wouldn't accept any reservations even though we expressed that we had a large party and worried that we wouldn't sit together) but were denied and selected 50 Ocean. What a pleasant surprise. We had the entire deck all to ourselves, they moved tables, set up a station for gifts, and were on top of all of our needs. The Bloody Mary Bar was the best that I've ever seen, so many different options. The food all had unique twists which were really cool. Another bonus was the amazing ocean view no matter where you sit. My fiance and I immediately tabbed it as a place that we are considering for our rehearsal dinner. read more

My husband has a severe medical condition. I called to ask if they could puree what we ordered. They said "it wasn't on the menu" and "they didn't have a blender or food processor." What crap! Our dinners were simply delicious; perfect! Do try the scallops and fresh fish dishes- we couldn't stop eating! The only downside was that the outdoor patio had the displeasure of hearing the bar music from Boston's , which is directly below. The indoor restaurant and bar was beautiful. What a great experience! I went to celebrate my mother's birthday and was really impressed by the level of service, delicious food, and beautiful views. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcomed! Our waiter was wonderful and timed everything to perfection. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the views around 7:30, which is an amazing time to go. I ordered the snapper and was impressed at the presentation and flavors. My wife and I had dinner there around 5PM. Great view of the ocean and the dinner was pretty good but pricy for a restaurant with a $$ rating. But the reason I'm doing this review is a because a customer came into the bar area, which is in the middle of the dining area, with his dog that we assumed was a service dog but not wearing a vest signifying it was a service dog. Maybe that's not required in Florida. I have no problem with dogs especially service dogs but most service dogs lay at the owners feet and you hardly even notice them. But this guy put the dog up on a bar stool beside him and no one working there didn't seem to think anything of it. Service dog or not it should stay on the floor. read more

Urghh where to begin. We came here for lunch on a Tuesday to celebrate my MIL getting married at the courthouse that morning. Beautiful weather, lovely seating area overlooking the ocean. Thats about all the nice things I can say about the place. The place was deserted. My husband and I both ordered the ham and cheese sandwich with french fries. Our other guests ordered a regular ceasar salad, 2 lobster bisques and the mussels in garlic. The bisques came out quickly but tasted very bland and ordinary. Microscopic bits of lobter, all together probably wouldnt make up a 1" lump of lobster meat. After the soups came, we had to wait close to 40 minutes for sandwiches, a salad and a plate of mussels. The salad had absolutely no dressing. They brought us turkey sandwiches and kept insisting that it was ham. "They smoke it in house so it looks different". I tried the meat, it was dry, flavorless overcooked turkey. I smoke my own ham at home, I cook extensively. That was not ham. Even the manager came out and tried to insist that it was ham when it was clearly turkey. If they had just admitted the mistake or claimed they were out of ham, I would have gladly ordered something else. It was the insistent refusal to admit the mistake that put us both in a bad mood. Oh and they even screwed up the fries, brought out house salads instead The service was painfully slow and abrupt. The food bland and wrong. Not worth the time and money. Oh an the Mimosas- absolutely horrible- they could at least use real orange juice and not watered down frozen concentrate. No one finished their drinks read more

The specialty jar dipping apps were great (we tried spicy crab and truffle onion). My cobia was perfection and I heard raves from those who tried the shrimp with gnocchi in a cream sauce. The scallops in curry were okay. Not the restaurant's fault but the table next to us was occupied by a couple that were inappropriately groping each other and making out. I was disappointed that the manager did not ask them to leave, but I understand that is somewhat awkward - it was a unfortunate distraction for us and made some uncomfortable. Also our waiter treated the ladies at our table as if they weren't there. My wife asked twice to have her dishes removed and the waiter ignored her until I unsuited. My family and I had an amazing dinner at 50 Ocean. It's located right across from the beach so of course the views are to die for, but the food was the reason we have to go back. I had the scallops and my family had the restaurant's version of surf and turf. The steak was juicy and the scallops were perfectly tender. Even after eating several courses we still had dessert.
