    Shrimp etouffee

This restaurant has been a local favorite for 17 yrs. It has a small, clean, casual interior. Most of the menu is on the board behind the bar. The server was nice, attentive and knowledgeable. They serve beer and wine - no cocktails. I especially liked that they provide bread and butter right away. We started with their version of shumai - basically shrimp and pork ravioli. We all enjoyed it, but felt $19 was a lot for this appetizer. For our mains, we ordered shrimp etouffee, duck, and eggplant parmesan. The duck was the highlight, but not a hearty portion. The eggplant parm consisted of three slightly too thick fried slices of eggplant topped with some sauce and cheese. It tasted good, but was a little difficult to cut. For dessert, they had 2 simple options. We went with ice-cream with bananas and chocolate in a pastry shell. It was delicious and enough to share. Overall, we enjoyed the experience, but because of the high prices, we won't be regulars.

Jimmy's Bistro is a welcoming restaurant that's nice in an understated kind of way with an eclectic menu and friendly staff and while it doesn't have a full bar the bottle of wine we ordered was fine and a good recommendation. A Tuna Tartare appetizer was no better or worse than other local restaurants but the Lobster Dumplings were excellent and the sauce was both light and complex. It's nice to see that Jimmy's uses Captain Clay's, a local purveyor of fish rather than a national distributor and Tilefish was on the menu. The fish was mild but slightly dry and while it was good I was expecting better. However a Chicken fried Chicken was surprisingly good and made it even better with excellent mashed potatoes. Chocolate dessert was fine but what's up with using Haagen Dazs Ice Cream? Haagen Dazs of course is a mid range mass produced brand that was cleverly marketed to seem vaguely European despite it starting in a large Bronx factory. There are local ice cream companies that are far superior and the Van Leeuwen Ice Cream Shop right across the street is better. With so many restaurants along adjacent Atlantic Avenue, Jimmy's Bistro is a good choice.

A true hidden gem! This is the cutest bistro in Delray. We were introduced to this place by good friends and we enjoyed it from beginning to end. Our favorite place to park is the Arts Garage which is a few minutes away. Walk is about 5 mins. There is street parking available. Customer service was good. The pear salad was very fresh with a beautiful light homemade dressing. The bread was nice and soft. I ordered the bolognese and the flavor was out of the world. The noodles were cooked perfectly! We had a strawberry tart for dessert and it was sooooooooooooooo good! Fresh vanilla nice cream with strawberries on top of a balsamic glaze and a nice pastry. I asked for more bread but was never given anymore. At the time of my request there were two small ends left in the basket which I was going to eat with my pasta anyways. The lady pointed out that I had more bread in my basket. I finished it by the time she came back with some sauce and she still didn't bring me more bread. The restaurant is quite tight and small. There is a bar and there are tables. No wasted space. We enjoyed this place.

We came to use a gift certificate that my husband won and happy to come across this gem of a place. It's quaint and was packed for a Wednesday! We grabbed a bar seat for two and ordered Rigatoni Bolognese and Chicken Milanese. The pasta was cooked al dente and the chicken was very crispy, but a little overcooked and dry. Still edible and good enough but for $36 I expected perfection. We will definitely come back, but maybe on a day that isn't so gorgeous out because all the seating is indoors unfortunately. Note: The meals are more expensive then what their website portrays. (website said $26 for each meal and they were $36)

Cute little restaurant with impeccable service. Only wine and beer. The food was very good. The veal was too tough, not properly prepared. The rest was excellent.

wonderful evening we had last night. Great ambience, and the service was spot on. When we got our food the presentation was fabulous. And it even tasted better. This is a must for any foodie that comes to Palm Beach!!!

Last night was my first time dining at Jimmy's Bistro and I'm honestly sad it took me so long to discover it. Nestled around the corner from the tin roof on a dark street, it's easy to miss, but when you walk in you instantly feel at home due the cozy atmosphere. Our server was super friendly and gave us details all of the specials. We tried the pork dumplings, stuffed zucchini flowers, chicken fried chicken, roasted duck, tile fish and a balsamic strawberry dessert Each of the entrees were delicious. The items that really stood out to me were: the duck which came with a velvety mushroom orange sauce that was TDF and the chicken with amazing garlic mashed potatoes reminded me of my hometown, Minneapolis. Last but not least, who knew balsamic and vanilla ice cream were a match made in heaven!?! I didn't, but now I do. Please check out this hidden gem if you're looking for a new spot!

Braised short ribs unfortunately I forgot to take the picture before I devoured it!

The husband-and-wife owners are clearly hands-on... stopping by tables, checking in with guests, and keeping a watchful eye on everything. It's obvious they care and truly want you to have a great time here. I called for a reservation and it was basically sold out... when they said they could take me at 5pm, I grabbed it. Was actually perfect as I was heading over to see the tennis tournament after dinner. On arrival, the place was empty. As expected, when we left, it was completely full. A half bottle of Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay was perfect with my lobster. The wine list isn't extensive, but it's well chosen and fairly priced. The food was excellent across the board. A special of Scallops, Crab Cake, topped with Shrimp over Vegetables was fantastic. My guest enjoyed the Clams Oreganata. I loved my Baked Stuffed Lobster (stuffed with crab), served with amazing Mashed Potatoes... and bonus points for a real hand towel after the lobster. Of course, I had to try the key lime pie... very good. Now I understand why this casual, unassuming spot is so popular... it hits on every note. I noticed a bunch of regulars dining at the bar, which looked perfect to me. The bar is walk-in only... so next time I don't have dinner plans, I'll remember I can just walk in and try for a seat. I'm sure I'll see two familiar faces... the owners, Anthony and Christine. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I recently came back with a friend for oysters, clams, and drinks, and we sat at the bar for the evening. The oysters, clams, and mussels were absolutely delicious. I originally ordered a Grey Goose martini before realizing they only serve beer and wine, so I switched to a Chardonnay, which was great. The experience was nostalgic in the best way. I know the ownership has changed since I first came here, but I was so happy to hear the cook is still the same! It really brought back memories. We had a fun night overall -- although I may have slightly annoyed the bartender by asking her to take photos of us (they didn't come out too well under the lighting). Before we left, another server kindly helped us take a few away from the lights, and those turned out much better. All in all, I'm really glad I came back to give J and J's another whirl. The food was fresh and delicious, the atmosphere was warm and nostalgic, and it reminded me why I loved this place to begin with. You should give it a try too!

And after this last visit, I will be passing on any future visits. We had a 6:30 pm reservation for 5 on a recent Saturday Night. That afternoon we asked if we can add one more person (so 6 in total) and were told we'd need to arrive at 6:15 pm. Logistically, that makes zero sense. The extra table seat wouldn't be a problem, and adding 15 minutes for the kitchen for 1 extra meal? But, ok. We arrived to a nearly empty restaurant at 6:15. We are catching up, looking at the menus and within 10 minutes the owner is hovering over us asking for our orders. We ask for another few minutes -- we hadn't even gotten our drinks. He tells us we have 2 hours so we have to hurry. Look, I live down the block from Le Sorrelle. I pass it night after night, and yes, it's has its nights where it is party central. People love to host family events there. But most of the time, this place is sorely wanting for business. And while perhaps Le Sorrelle did fill up after we left, there was plenty of seating when we did slip out, well in advance of our 2-hour limit. As for the food -- I can only speak to what I ordered. A Caesar salad and Pizza Margherita. Both were awful. And I'm really not just saying that because of the restaurant experience that night. I previously had pizza at Le Sorrelle (albeit, years ago now) and it was quite good. Perhaps the cheese pizza would have been. As for a good Caesar salad, run, don't walk to Segreto Italia. Actually, just go to Segreto Italia, because Chris, Joey and Chip will treat you like gold and you'll have an overall outstanding experience.

They bring out fresh hot rolls with a small plate of cheese pesto and balsamic drizzle. Outstanding!!!!! We came to find out the owner who is the chef, his wife is a pastry chef and makes the bread and desserts. To start we had the Spanish chargrilled octopus. I know I have said this before about other restaurants, but I can truly say hands-down. This was the freshest, most tender, and one of the most flavorful grilled octopus that we have had. It came with a mixture of capers, potatoes, and vegetables in an amazing sauce. Truly fantastic. For dinner, my wife had the blackened yellowtail snapper in curry sauce, and I had the shellfish pan roast. Both were one of a kind dishes. We have never had such great flavor and seafood. Not to mention the amount of food that they put out and the presentation is worthy of awards. My wife's blacked snapper was cooked perfectly had a light blackened coating, and the curry sauce was tremendous. My shellfish were super fresh. Again cooked to perfection, tender, and flavorful. The sauce they were in was amazing. For dessert, we tried their homemade Keylime pie, and this too was top-notch and made fresh. We are planning our next trip to this restaurant and if you actually want a true fine, dining seafood experience you have to try this spot. I'm going to say it is priced accordingly for the true quality of food, the amount you are served and the presentation. If you are looking for a fried shrimp basket or fish and chips, this is not the type of restaurant for you. This is upscale seafood, and a true upscale seafood experience. You might want to consider making reservations as they do get busy and as I mentioned earlier, it is a small restaurant.
