The bartender explained nicely the girl's token couldn't be used for a $40 Clase Azul Margarita, giving her several other tequila options I might add, and the young girl flipped out in her & called her names. The bartender definitely kept her cool, never even raising her voice. The way people treat bartenders sometimes is just so terrible! Don't go out if you can't act appropriately. I ordered one drink, and it was pretty good. The only downside was the service. The bartender wasn't very personable, and I didn't really feel welcomed. To be fair, it was the start of the shift, so maybe they were just getting settled in or simply having an off day. We all have those days, so I'm trying not to judge the experience too harshly. I usually like to give places a second chance because one visit doesn't always tell the whole story. The drink showed promise, and I'm hopeful my next visit will leave a better overall impression. The Goose & Fern is honestly a terrible place to watch a sports match: there was only a single TV mounted in the back corner of the restaurant, the TV wasn't particularly large, and the speakers had been turned completely off. What a bust. Although the food was decent, especially the Shepherd's pie -- which came piping hot in a small cast iron skillet, the service was downright dreadful and almost non-existent. We never received waters (or were even asked if we wanted beverages), our table wasn't given enough silverware, we were never checked on during the meal, and we were waiting around for 30 minutes twiddling our thumbs before somebody from our party finally went up to try to pay for the check. In hindsight, a tip was not warranted for the lack of service. Overall, Yelp grossly misled me on The Goose & Fern. This is not a spot I would stop by again to watch a sporting match. If you're in this part of Santa Rosa, do yourself a favor and head over to Dave and Busters down the street where they have a bunch of massive screens, tons of beer options, and service that will far surpass what you're getting here.
