I might just be me, but I love a fusion spot! This was such a fun spot that we swung into on our way to Mendocino county. Love the indoor and outdoor seating options. We got to sit at the chef's table which provided the best views of exporting and some cooking too. All the staff here seem to love their job and everyone is smiling! I love that! The food was pretty great too. The miso guacamole was handmade from fresh avocados right in front of us. I really enjoyed the fried salt and pepper octopus too. Great sauce accompaniment. The two sandwiches we ordered were very interestingly on grilled bao buns which actually held together pretty well. I personally didn't love the pickled veggies but my husband enjoyed them. I' was quite familiar though with Starks near Railroad Square and use to frequent that location before Covid came along....anyway I know Bird is popular and I was really looking forward to a nice bar experience and tasty cuisine ...but I will probably not go again. *Atmosphere--the place is somewhat large with two floors and feels and looks non-de script. Very much a business. Noisy, busy, aloof. 3 stars *Cocktails--I didn't have a signature cocktail but instead requested Grey Goose over ice with a twist. The pour was so small; unacceptably small. A thimbleful . Very disappointing. 0 stars. *Food--we ordered the fried chicken and a side of greens. The chicken was good, moist, accompanied by a tasty slaw and pickled veggie bits. 4 stars The greens were okay but mediocre 2+ stars *Service--our server was pretty much going through the motions, perhaps a long day. 2+ stars, The host was pleasant and helpful. 4 stars. *Price--expensive. We dropped by Bird & The Bottle after wine tasting in nearby Sebastopol. It had a nice outdoor, dog friendly patio area. Service was good. We ordered a little gem salad and fries to split along with a burger each. I thought while the burger was good, it was small and for $17 without fries included seemed priced a little high. The fries were the bomb! Came with an onion type of dipping sauce which was delicious. We really enjoyed the gem salad too. It had a great vinaigrette dressing with sliced green apple and pecans. Wow, this is Asian fusion done right! I wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood. I just realized that they're part of the Stark Reality restaurant group, which has a big presence in Sonoma County. We had also tried Grossman's Noshery & Bar from the same restaurant group and were happy with the food there. I also heard good things about their other restaurants, so it should not have been a surprise that we were also impressed with the food here. Food is served tapas style and honestly, all the dishes sound appetizing. On this visit, we tried a few dishes. I wish I came with a more empty stomach to try more things. We ordered their crispy maitake mushrooms, steamed local black cod, and grilled house-made lamb sausage. Everything was delicious! The crispy maitake mushrooms came with a fish sauce which gave a nice brightening note to eat with fried food. Lemon was also fried with them to help cut any grease, so overall this dish did not feel oily or heavy. The steamed local black cod's ginger scallion oil surprisingly paired very well with the black truffle pesto. It had an earthy flavor profile that was brightened by the ginger. The cod was perfectly cooked and the mushrooms soaked up all of that saucy goodness. I loved this dish! The grilled house-made lamb sausage was Thai inspired and you could definitely taste the spices in the sausage. I actually would've liked more of the tamarind BBQ sauce and basil salad on this dish to help counter the lamb's spiciness a bit, but I enjoyed the dish. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was excellent and came out quickly. The restaurant is housed in what looks like a historic house, so it was a very cozy environment. Korean fusion spot with a beautiful patio view to enjoy outside, plus a super vibey ambiance inside. Happy hour runs 3-6 with cocktails and small bites. Now for the main attractions: the garlic noodles and ALL the tacos... WOAH. Total flavor explosion in your mouth. The tuna poke was incredibly fresh with the perfect amount of crunch from the taro chips. Since I was working, I went with a refreshing mocktail and it did not disappoint. The fries were the best I think I have ever had, they were so flat and crispy and the perfect bite each time, loved the everything bagel seasoning and the aioli type dip so so good. And a steal at $7 on the happy hour menu. The cocktail for happy hour was also well priced and super strong and delicious. I had the garlic noodles which were perfectly bouncy with an amazing texture, chewy and buttery, definitely good for sharing as the noodles alone were too rich for one person. Lets begin with their super awesome bar program. These guys know cocktails! Every drink mixed and poured is done with passion and love. You can tell they take great pride in mixing up super creative drinks. This alone would make Bird & The Bottle a must go. The food! YES! This is the star of the show. The focus here is on "shared" plates. But if you're really loving those ribs, just do the table a favor and order a second round. I love the ambiance. Dirty Dilbert (nice and refreshing with a little kick), Miso Good Guac (of which the wonton chips were so good), and the charred edamame which was prepared to perfection. Bird & The Bottle has a really interesting menu that seems to blend American, Vietnamese, Jewish, and everything in between, as they use their wood-fired grill to deliver maximum flavor in their dishes. The Good: * Fantastic outdoor dining space * Reservations via OpenTable * Daily Happy Hour (HH) from 3-5 p.m. However, please note the website and OpenTable both say the HH menu is limited to certain dining areas, but I'm pretty sure we sat in the main dining room and they didn't have an issue with it. But, just sayin'... * HH drink prices are terrific, and they definitely don't hold back on the liquor. * And, speaking of HH, get that Pastrami Taco. Actually, get two. You won't be sorry. * Brews on tap, as well as the aforementioned full bar. * The Everything Greens dish was our everything, and that's saying something--because as good as everything else was, this dish was the highlight of the meal. A+++ get it. * BBQ'd Bone Marrow was, well, just look at those pics. Luscious comes to mind. If you've never had marrow before, then welcome to the club. * The SF "Style" Garlic Noodles might've been our second favorite dish behind the Everything Greens. The texture of the noodles and the deep, umami garlic flavor were spot on. Maybe the best garlic noodles I've ever had. * Double Chocolate Mayo Cake was so ridiculously good that I don't even know where to begin. The cake was moist and full of chocolate flavor, and the dark chocolate ganache on top was just ooey-gooey goodness to the max. * Wood-grilled Certified Angus Beef Skirt Steak was just OK. Nothing wrong with it--in fact, quite delicious--it just didn't have the "wow" factor the other dishes had. It's like coming in fourth at a beauty contest--it's not that you're not beautiful, you're just slightly less beautiful. ¯\(ツ)/¯ The Meh: * Just beware most of these items aren't particularly large, so you'll definitely want to order a few if you're a big eater like ourselves. :8) * The prices are, well, what you'd expect from a restaurant of this caliber, but I will say the food was all fantastic and 100% worth it. * Service was probably the biggest issue, as it literally took forever between ordering our HH dish and drink and finally getting them. I know it's really hectic during that time, but an almost thirty-minute wait for one taco and one drink is a bit much. However, once HH was over, the dishes started coming out at a much more expedient pace. The Ugly: * Parking can be a bit of a challenge, even with their shared parking lot, as we had to luck out and find a space on the street. Definitely be mindful of the signs in their shared lot, as some of the spots are reserved for other nearby businesses--and they will tow you according to the signs we saw. So be forewarned. Conclusion: If you're looking for one place in Santa Rosa to dine at, then this might be the one. I'm honestly surprised they're not at least Michelin-recommended. This place was a highlight of our overnight trip to Santa Rosa. John picked this place and I have to give him kudos. The food was outstanding and way better than I anticipated. My two favorite things were the Everything Greens and the Mayo Cake. Even the cocktail was outstanding (I rarely drink these days so it had to be good in order for me to drink a cocktail). The service was okay. Our table was kind of in a weird spot and I felt like our server kept forgetting about us. Also, he made it clear that he would have our starter come our first (bone marrow) and then have the other items come after. That didn't happen. But whatever. The food was so good that all was forgiven. I think coming at Happy Hour makes things a bit chaotic for the staff. The food and drinks during that time were very slow. Driving back from Fort Bragg on my way into San Francisco. I decided to stop in the Santa Rosa area because I was starving. I knew immediately I needed to come here for an early supper upon looking for restaurants in the area. They definitely didn't disappoint. The cocktails are just so delicious. I had the Shiso Pretty and wow, this is a great cocktail with Grey Goose vodka, St. George spice pear, shiso drinking vinegar lime I ordered the skirt steak with the everything greens. I highly suggest having them together. I had ordered them separately when the server mentioned it was her favorite, and it seemed to be the favor of many of the staff at this restaurant. Parking is tucked right behind the restaurant. On a Sunday around 4:30 for HH not too busy (yet) and had plenty of space still. Weekend crowd starts to roll in around 5pm. Service is good! Had plenty of staff check in on me and make sure everything was going well. Pastrami taco was really good! Surprised to see it paired with kimchi but a pleasant surprise and gave me a bit of kbbq vibes. I'm Korean so I think the kimchi could have more bite or be more fermented but it's totally fine. Korean chicken thigh taco also super good. I think it'd be better to have this taco and the pastrami one switch their veggies but the usual black eyed pea slaw with the chicken was great too. Spicy crema could be spicier but that's personal preference and still went with the chicken great. I think the pastrami taco came out on top just by a smidge so I even ordered one more before grabbing my bill. This last taco came a little slower than the others but I wasn't in a rush. Got around to trying this spot during Sonoma County Restaurant Week with my boyfriend. The inside was very lively and we were seated right across from the open kitchen, which was cool to see but also inconvenient for conversation. We couldn't really hear that well across the table, so if that's a concern I'd consider booking an outdoor table. Service was very friendly. First, we ordered the scallion sesame cornbread off the regular menu, and then ordered the rest of our food off the Restaurant Week tasting menu. The cornbread and salads were pretty good, no complaints. The garlic noodles were super salty, kind of overpowered with soy sauce flavor and not much else. These definitely aren't traditional garlic noodles, and taste a lot more American. Also, we expected the noodle texture to be bouncy but there was kind of not much chew at all. The chicken bao burger was pretty good flavor-wise, but not amazing enough for me to want to come back, as there are definitely other good chicken sandwiches out there. The sandwich bun being inspired by a bao bun didn't add much, tbh. The presentation of the desserts was cool but both were overly sweet for us. Wow. Wow. Wow. What an incredible evening we had a Bird & The Bottle! This spot is very special and I'm so sad we live two hours away! Easily worth the drive to come back. Ambiance is romantic and cozy and really makes you feel like you're entering into a party already in progress - and we were there on a Tuesday evening! The style is small plates/tapas but we were so excited to find out that the portions were much more generous than other tapas places we'd been to. There's nothing more frustrating than dropping a lot of cash at a restaurant only to leave hungry. We started with two scrumptious cocktails - the Easy Rider and B&B. Both were unique and surprising- also the Easy Rider is basically two drinks in one! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious - there was not a dish that was less than spectacular so I'm just going to list them and encourage you to order whatever your heart fancies! We started with cocktails and an order of cheese curds. Also ordered a beet salad, crispy maitake mushrooms, and a steamed bun (think he got the duck one). The food was very good. My BF raved about his dish and the people next to us were talking about their favorites including the fried chicken thigh oysters. You could tell they were regulars b/c they knew exactly what they wanted the minute they sat down. The actual service was a bit off though. Let me start by saying the girl who took our order isn't the one who serves your dish. The back server was a young guy. He brought a fried chicken bun to our table which we didn't oder. But he put it down fast and walked away we didn't have a chance to say anything. He ended up figuring out the mistake pretty fast b/c he picked it back up and brought to the correct table. I then watched the same thing happen at another table a few minutes later. It was a bit comical actually. Regardless, this restaurant is def worth it. This is my favorite restaurant in Santa Rosa, from the great atmosphere to fantastic food and service. We had a party of seven going there and it was just before closing time. Our server was amazing, so many great meals came out and nothing was rushed. The ribs had a mild hoisin glaze that was so flavorful. The cornbread was unlike any we've had anywhere in the country and we could have ordered MUCH more of it. What a great find! We were looking for a dinner spot that allowed dogs, and this was one of the top recommended spots. They very quickly sat us on the patio and brought a bowl of water for our pup! First of all, FOOD was EXCELLANT, although I would have hoped for more dinner options. AMBIANCE was not too good. Music so loud I couldn't hear dinner companions without raising our voices. Water in fancy bottle was not cold at all, asked for ice, got a very small glass half full and when I added the water the ice was gone! So much to decide but went for the following: EVERYTHING SPICED FRIES - $11 Fire Roasted Onion Dip I ordered this because from the photos, I noticed how it was cut differently than any place that served fries. It's like the potato wedges but thin. So it's crispy and just all around yummy. I loved the seasoning and the onion dip was amazing. Definitely give this a try! BBQ'D BONE MARROW - $21 Onion Jam / Nduja Sausage / Parsley / Cheddar Toast Points. Took quite some time to come out that we thought they forgot about this. It's okay, we were pacing anyway. I've seen Bone marrow before but never a BBQ version! I had to give this a try! It was a decent portion too with 4 pieces (2 bones cut in half) and it had all the works--the sweet onion jam and whole roasted garlic, spread on toast was so good. Oh and the Nduja sausage, which is like a meat spread gave this dish so much sweet flavor. Overall a wonderful dish and loved this rendition of Bone Marrow. EVERYTHING GREENS - $14 Braising Greens / Snap Peas / Leeks / Pickled Shiitakes / Soy Butter. I usually order a Brussels Sprouts dish just to have some greens but then I saw this, and went for it. This was not good. I keep forgetting to never order anything Duck Confit cuz they always end up tasking like jerky--dry and chewy. The dessert selection didn't look all too interesting and I knew I wanted to explore downtown Santa Rosa for sweets. Overall this place was really good and we enjoyed ourselves very much. Extremely overrated. Really disappointed with our meal here. We left after appetizers and ended up going to a pizza place instead. Their kitchen ran out of four dishes from their already minimalist menu, which is kind of nuts considering it was 7PM on a weekend. - Fried cheese curds [2/5]: These were not crunchy in any way. Unfortunately very oily. You could barely taste the dill pickle salt. - Fried wontons [1/5]: Panda Express has better wontons for a fraction of the price. - Everything greens [3/5]: Nothing special. Couldn't taste the everything seasoning. - Poke [3/5]: This was the best thing we ate during our meal, but the ratio of tuna cubes to taro chips was insane. Service was okay; our waiter was nice but other staff were spilling water all over our table or otherwise taking away plates really aggressively. Overall this place felt very gimmicky -- almost like the chef wanted to Asian-ify their menu with their only reference point being Panda Express in middle America. read more

Amazing meals! Spent 2 nights in Sonoma and this is our favorite meal! We ordered: - fried miso cod(this is a next level fish and chips! Very tasty!) - bbq bone marrow( didn't expect them to give 4 pieces of bone marrow! It's yummy, portion is a bit bigger than we expected) - chicken skin cracklings(sooooo good! Even my 2 yrs old daughter loves it!) - shrimp dumplings(nothing special, but it's good, would skip this next time) - skirt steak(very good! Cooked perfectly and tasted yummy!) - brentwood corn(very good!) - mayo chocolate in a jar(good, not too sweet) Parking is easy at the back. Reservation is also pretty easy via opentable. read more

I loved the laid-back vibe of this place -- super casual, but the food really stole the show! It's a charming spot for a casual date or catching up with friends and family. The menu features lots of shareable options, which worked perfectly for our group. We kicked things off with the crispy chicken skin crackling, and I surprisingly loved pairing it with the Japanese shiso and lettuce -- a first for me! Next up were the wood-grilled Gulf prawns (so flavorful!) and the highly recommended little gem salad. The saltine crackers served with the prawns were an unexpectedly perfect pairing, and the salad dressing was absolutely delicious. For dessert, we went with the chocolate cake pudding -- rich, decadent, and massive, so I'm glad we split it! Our server was incredibly kind and down-to-earth. He gave honest, helpful menu recommendations and checked in on us throughout the meal, which made the experience even better. If I find myself in Santa Rosa again, I'm definitely coming back to explore more of the larger plates! read more

I'm in town in Santa Rosa on vacation and went to dinner here on a Monday night around 5:30. We were greeted by the hostess right away and sat outside. It was a bit windy and chilly, but they did turn on the heaters (and I had a zip up sweatshirt which I'm happy about). Service was super fast, I ordered the Shisho Pretty drink which tasted light and refreshing. The food is served tapas style for sharing, so you can sample a little of each. My mom and I were so full after the first plates, we had to take some to go. A must is the everything fries! So thin and crisp with delish flavor, and I loved the dipping sauce mm! The beet salad was so delicious with the goat cheese ranch and greens. Each dish was about $14. The sliders were so so good and juicy, same for the fried chicken sliders- fried to perfection with juicy chicken! And the pastrami tacos were incredible, housemade pastrami with cheese curds on homemade tortillas. Dessert looked incredible like the carrot cake in the jar, double mayo chocolate cake and toasted coconut sundae but I was sooo full so I need to come back for a repeat meal and dessert!
