Caused a leak to room below and ceiling damaged from water stains. Replacing washing machine valves leaked for days. They used wrong parts, did not prep pipes, did not seal , not a tight connection and left gaps. Repeatedly called Shane the owner for 4 days & no response. Said he never got the messages. Finally sent an estimator after we had stopped the leak temporarily, moved furniture, covered with plastic, did not use washer & tan 3 fans 24/7 to dry out ceiling. They did a good assessment of the problems, but we're terrible with the follow-up. Christian did fix the leak, but in his assessment, he noted that the sink should be replaced. I gave him the go-ahead, but he said he needed to get approval from the office. I've placed at least 3 calls to the office, and I was always told they would check into the matter and get back to me. Wow! These guys are awesome! Right from the get go. Called Shane(the owner) last week to set up an appointment. He got back to me right away and had a time set up for four days later. They let you know when they are on their way & when they arrive at your place. Peter & another plumber arrived at the scheduled time. Changed out two angle valves and a couple of pipes/hoses on the water heater. They were in & out in one hour . When they finished the job, Peter showed me what they had done. Easy to get ahold of and communicated during the whole process. The Yelp phone number is an emergency number. But the guy who answered was nice and directed us to the right number. We had a knocking sound in our water pipes at the kitchen sink. They requested pictures, and advised us to buy a new faucet just in case. *** scroll to end for my one issue with service *** I live in a highrise apartment building and ran into a dreaded nightmare: the unit below me was experiencing slight and periodic dripping water from their bathroom ceiling vent. My resident manager recommended replacing the toilet wax ring and I proceeded to call 535 Plumbing to get this done. Scheduling was a breeze and the work was performed very efficiently. Unfortunately, the replacement of the wax ring did not resolve the original issue with the dripping water. The plumber on-site told me that their recommendation would be to make an access cut through the drywall ceiling in the unit below me and be able to set eyes on piping to assess the exact cause. A few days later, I made the call to 535 Plumbing to schedule leak investigation for the following week. Plumber made the access cut and assessed root cause of the leaking to be an elbow drain pipe immediately below the toilet and concrete slab. I appreciated the plumber taking time to thoroughly explain the situation, even having taking pictures on their phone to walk me through it. Ultimately the work was performed and I am very satisfied with the results as the leak has seized and I feel confident with the workmanship in it to last years. The on-site plumbers were very professional and respectful. I noted how they took care in really cleaning the place up after finishing their work and, honestly, leaving it cleaner than it was found. I have taken off a star (not two, because based off of the overall excellent reviews, I do believe I will eventually get a suitable explanation) for one reason hoping that I'll get some follow-up on this... The initial estimate provided to me onsite by the plumber via one of their estimators was $2800 to handle the replacement of the elbow drain pipe. I was somewhat shocked and proceeded to ask a few questions. After a few questions, the plumber got a call/text and stated that the manager looked over the estimate and revised it to $1350. Although no one will be mad with a lower estimate, I find it concerning that there is such a huge delta from what was originally offered. I also was hoping to get an explanation (i.e. hourly labor charge, material, complexity of job, etc.) for what is going into arriving at the $1350 estimate... after all, this is a lot of money. The on-site plumber could not provide an answer to this other than that it may be because I had previously had them do the wax ring replacement. Having cleared my (and the unit below me) entire day for this and understanding the inconvenience holding off on this would cause the unit below me, although I still felt like pricing was still a bit high, I reluctantly accepted it and told them to proceed with work. I later called the office that day to inquire about this and I didn't get really clear answers. I eventually got called back by the person who stated that he did the original estimate for $2800; I did not find this particular conversation very pleasant. On top of still failing to get clear rationale except for being "lucky", I was moderately put off by the tone of voice and just the overall customer service by this one particular person. I believe the plumber said that Shane was the one who personally looked over the estimate and revised it. I have left a message with the office and am awaiting/hoping for a chance to have a discussion with him regarding this in the near future. read more

This company overcharged me by over 270% for very simple work done on my house. They installed 6 metal clamps to support my drain pipes, and 7 small copper clamps to fasten the water lines to the support beams in a very accessible crawl space under my deck. The work took a total of 45 minutes by one of their plumbers. I was charged $1256.54. This work was initiated by our HOA due to some units having leaking pipes because the piping was not fastened properly. When I requested an itemized bill showing the materials and labor expenses, I never received it. After several emails and phone calls requesting an itemized bill, after over 9 weeks, I received an email reply saying the initial estimate I received for the work to be completed was the only breakout they could provide me. It only included a very simple statement that said "Provide and install 3' Clovis hangers, all thread sammies for 3' main every 4 feet. Provide and install 2' Clovis hangers, all thread, and wood sammies for kitchen drain line every 4 feet." When I read this statement initially, I thought it must be talking about very large pipes that go underground, since it referred to 3' and 2' hangers. I received no other details from 565 Plumbing, or my HOV about the work that needed to be done. I erroneously assumed it would require digging trenches and making underground repairs because I didn't know where else there would be pipes that large. When I questioned this with 565 Plumbing, they simply did not respond and told me I had signed the estimate to complete the work so I owed them $628.27 (I paid half the amount of the "estimate" before they would start doing the work). When I replied that I had already paid them $628.27, which was nearly double what my neighbor paid ($339) for A-1 Budget Plumbing to do the same strapping required by our HOV, plus repair a leaking pipe, they did not respond. A few weeks later I received a notice from a collection agency. I paid the additional $628.27, because I don't have the time or energy to continue disputing the matter in court. However, I want to warn anyone considering this company for plumbing work to be sure they completely understand what they will be paying for. read more

Our condo required all units to replace their water heater making supply of a short 50 gallon water heater difficult to come by. I was able to obtain one and needed someone to install. I contacted 535 Plumbing and they took care of everything from picking up the water heater from Home Depot, submitting all the paperwork required by my condo, delivering and installing the heater, checking all the sinks had running hot water, and disposing of the old heater. They even took the time to clean up after themselves. Kelli was wonderful to work with and provided EXCELLENT communication and customer service. The technicians even returned as there was a problem with the water pressure in my kitchen sink. They didn't consider the job complete until I was fully satisfied. So then I called 535 same day and they came at 330 pm and the window time was between 230-430 as the day was ending.. they replace the valve. They did a great job, very efficient and friendly. this morning, 535's "sister company" (urgent island restoration) removed my bath vanity cabinet and corian countertop. the countertop is "one piece", in other words the backsplash, sidesplash and vanity bowl are molded into one piece by the fabricator / installer, e & t marble and tile (have to give this company a 5 star rating also. they did it at a super price - compared to much better known contractors). this made the possibility of damage to the countertop much greater. but the cabinet and countertop were removed without any damage. i was impressed. later in the morning, atta and phillip returned to verify the leak location. after removal of the mirror and cutting thru gyp board, they found the leaks where they suspected they were. my pipes are pex, so they joined the pex with copper and completed the repairs. still have to replace the cab and vanity, but that will be via urgent island. 535's job is done, and again, i'm impressed! when they left, i joked i hope i don't see them again, but no doubt i'll call 535 plumbing if i need a plumber again. highly recommend them! read more

The crew from 535 plumbing was absolutely awesome! Junior, Chrys and Matt earned every one of these stars and then some. In short, they were truly thoughtful, efficient, competent, reliable, and did a fabulous job with our very difficult plumbing "disaster". It was an absolute pleasure working with the three of them! But these guys totally deserve a longer explanation as to why I 100% recommend them. For most of us, hiring a plumber can be scary. Generally we find ourselves needing repairs in a pinch but are afraid of getting oversold on a job or charged too much for parts and labor. My ninety year-old mom was in this exact situation. Her hot water pipe ruptured somewhere under her "concrete bunker" of a house (she only knew because of a huge electric and water bills, and low pressure in her shower). She reached out to two other plumbing companies who came out, charged her for their time and their theories but never really gave her a clear idea of what was going on and basically left her frustrated and hanging. I came home to O'ahu help her and she called 535 Plumbing. Enter Junior... From the get-go Junior was up front, respectful, thoughtful, and all about finding the most effective and reasonable fix for my mom. The other companies had told her she would need to re-plumb the entire house for $25,000, end of story. Auwe! Junior went into true, "akamai plumber" mode and came up with a clever and functional "bypass plan" that saved her THOUSANDS of dollars and a ton of construction stress. He then actually took the time to clearly explain the plan and costs to her. It was the kindest thing! He also explained that 535 knows there are lots of jobs out there. Expanding the scope of the project (I.e. re-plumbing her whole house) just so they would have more work isn't how they operate. He made it clear that they would rather get this job done quickly and well and, move on to helping the next person. So it was up to Chrys and Matt to execute the pretty complicated bypass plan. The work load was NO JOKE and involved sawing and jackhammering big slabs of cement, repiping the lines in a hot, cramped and humid space and literally thinking around corners. Chrys was totally unflappable, steady, and competent as he worked. He kept the job cranking as he took input from Junior and helped teach Matt. Matt was learning on the job and was super contentious, neat and tough. When they would encounter a problem (the fault of a very complex, quirky house built in the 70's) they'd work it out. We were worried about concrete dust going everywhere but they taped up plastic, ran a shop vac and worked so hard to keep the dust down. They honestly did everything they could to make this whole process as painless as possible for my mom and kept her informed the whole time. They were upfront about the costs and kept them totally within reason. Companies like to use "aloha" in their advertising all the time without really walking the talk. These guys at 535 totally nailed it. The whole process was an aloha-filled win/win. I can't say mahalo nui enough to these guys and, a big "shaka" to the owner for running their company this way. I hope our 'ohana doesn't need anymore plumbing help in the near future but if we do, for sure we'll call 535! read more
