I brought my wheel into 55 Tires & Service because my tire kept going flat and asked them to check it and fix the issue. Instead of actually diagnosing the problem, they barely looked at it and told me it was the valve stem. The staff was not friendly at all, had an attitude, and treated me like I was an inconvenience rather than a paying customer. No respect, no explanation, no effort. They charged me $41 just to replace a valve stem, and guess what? It didn't fix anything. My tire is STILL going flat. So I paid for absolutely nothing and wasted my time. If you're expecting professionalism, honesty, or even basic customer service, don't come here. They'll take your money, rush the job, and send you out the door with the same problem you came in with. Do not take your car here for repairs. I was visiting the area and took my car in to see if it needed an alignment. They told me I needed a new strut assembly and 4 new tires. I had just bought 2 new front tires less than 3 months prior so I knew I did not need them replaced. I declined the service and was charged $86.86 for the false diagnosis. I took my car into my mechanic when I got back home and they said I do not need a new strut assembly or new tires. My daughter-in-law happened to take her car in the same day because she felt like there was a problem with one of the tires and they told her the same thing, that she needed a new strut assembly and 4 new tires. Seems to be their go to recommendation and it is very expensive. read more

We have used 55 Tire a few time for our other vehicles and everyone has always been great. Unfortunately this time, I got to meet the owner, Drew Dobbs. When I picked up my vehicle for an inspection and alignment, I noticed a medium sized dent on the hood that was not previously there. I immediately walked back in and told him. He threw his pen down, stormed outside and without taking a breath, immediately said "we didn't do that, look at the dents on the rest of the car and scoffed." He then said because I left it after hours before they opened it wasn't his responsibility. I had parked it three feet in front of his front doors, directly under a surveillance camera. I pointed this out and he quickly said "that camera doesn't work" and walked off. I left and called back later but he confirmed he wasn't going to do anything about it because my car has other dents.The dents he kept referencing are on a fender that is waiting to be repaired and is unrelated to the top of the hood that they dented. The hood did not have prior damage. When I drove by earlier that morning, they had it on the lift, in the air with the hood open. I think they raised it too far up and hit something with the hood in the air. I was not looking for a repaint, a new hood, or anything outrageous but rather a amicable way to resolve a situation where they accidentally damaged my property. My wife broke down on the interstate, they got us a tire real fast and were very helpful and friendly the day of the repair. I needed them to call my insurance company prior to the repair to get it authorized, but my insurance company was unable to process due to it being a new policy, and asked for them to call back later to provide details so the claim could be processed once my new policy was in the system. Jim said he would do that for us. I called back a few weeks later to have them do this and Drew was very rude to me on the phone and said he did not have time to do this for me, and Jim also said the same thing after Drew put him on the phone. I'm not sure why, because Jim was so nice the day of the repair and now, they are quite rude, and I am now stuck paying over $300 for a repair that would just take a phone call from them to straightened out. My advice is to make sure these guys fulfill all insurance obligations prior to giving them any business, as it really bothers them to take time from their precious day to help you later after they get your money. read more

They fixed the minor dumb issue for me, while my car was being inspected and getting an oil change. They earned my trust for the long term. Great shop that isn't going to screw you over. Went to get OEM Part Number 4261106350; 4261133491; 4261133541 rims installed. The new wheels are exact to the old ones removed. Afterwards I was billed for 4) new valve stems at $45.00 labor to install them when it was $3.50 for cost of each. Additionally this company broke 3 of 4 wheel covers. I called and talked to Drew about this and he acted like I was an idiot....telling me that the wheels/caps were not original to the car and they were cheap plastic. Doesn't matter if they are a cheap/expensive material....respect customers property. Own up to your screw up! He also tried selling my wife new wheel pressure sensors at $90 per that are not needed, after I told him NO that morning. Their integrity is not there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS! BBB has been contacted due to their overcharging and taking advantage of their customers. read more

My spouse went there yesterday 6/1/21 to inquire about a flat tire on my van and to arrange service. The guy at the counter was rude to my spouse through out the interaction. Without knowing about this interaction I stopped by to inquire about making an appt for my tire. Apparently the same guy was rude in his tone to me also. My spouse was told they close at 5:00 everyday. I was told.. (like I was an idiot) that they were closed on Saturdays. Anyway there is no reason to bother with with place due to their rudeness and their non compatible hours that don't work well with the average person who works 9 to 5. There are plenty of places to go to that keep better hours and are wanting some business. Wouldn't trust them with my van... with a bad attitude like that... read more

I will never go back to this place. I've been getting my inspections and oil changes done there for a couple years now and I came in one day and was going to get service done in my truck. I was told by A guy named Dennis that I needed to start getting other services because it wasn't worth his guys time to just do service on my truck. I told him that's fine, I would be taking my money elsewhere. Come to find out, I called up to file a complaint on this guy and asked for the manager. Turned out that Dennis is the owner. First of all, lots of fees that they don't tell you about until the tires are on the car and there's nothing you can do about it. I ended up paying $170 for two used tires - one of which lost all its air 3 days later. The tires looked nice when I left and had lots of tread on them. When I unwittingly drove on the tire that was low, I essentially destroyed it and the folks at this place were really nasty about it. They basically kept insisting it was my fault. Really, used tires are a risk anyway but if they are this expensive, the place should really be willing to take them back and change them for other ties. This is just despicable. It doesn't even cost them that much - I mean they are used. I wound up just having Dobbs who initially tried to repair the tire but said it was in too bad of damage just put a new one on. They said this place has also did the same to other customers in the past. I really wouldn't be surprised if they knew ahead of time the tire was no good and just figured they'd find someway to blame it on the customer. Anyway, there are plenty of places that are decent when it comes to used tires (one in north city particularly) has been good to me in the past. but don't go here! read more

Horrible! I could have died because my entire wheel fell off while I was driving (totaling my car because it also caused damage to the passenger side) These guys did not tighten the lug-nuts on one of my wheels after rotating my tires. I called them (after my accident when my ENTIRE WHEEL FELL OFF) and told them I had just been in a few days ago for a rotation and explained what had happened. I have been going to 55 Tire & Auto for about 10 years. I have an F250 Super Duty pickup, a 2009 Malibu and many other vehicles over the years. They have always done a great job and the tires they have recommended are top notch. I am a sales rep and drive 40,000 miles a year so I insist on top notch service. All the mechanical work I have had done has been top notch - I spent 23yrs as a USAF fighter weapons mechanic and have a great appreciation for quality work. They have my respect and loyalty.
