I had a really good experience here. My car's AC went out (mid July in stl- love that for me) and searched Yelp for spots to get it fixed. BBAC caught my eye from all the reviews of happy customers, being responsibly priced, and close-ish to my house. I called and made an appointment, they got me in fairly quickly (within 2-3 days). After dropping it off, I received a text with the estimate and okayed it right then and there. I needed a new hose/ ac system. I loved this easy way of communication. It was expensive, but after comparing prices with other spots and doing my research, it was a bit less than what others have been charged for the same. It was ready the next day, and it was so nice to have a fully working ac in the heat again. I've had no issues since. Cars aren't fun to fix and spend money on, but I feel like this was as painless as it could have been. I'd definitely return for services! read more

I called Big Bend Auto Center to get an estimate for a brake job--what a frustrating experience. First off, they don't give estimates over the phone, which is fair. So, I scheduled an appointment for Thursday. However, the person I spoke with had a really unpleasant attitude. He kept questioning whether I had the right place, repeating, "We're Big Bend Auto Center, not the other Big Bend Auto store." Why would I be calling if I wasn't sure? It came off as condescending. Then he told me I couldn't wait for my car, and when I asked again--just to clarify if I could wait while they did the estimate--he rudely said no. At that point, I decided to take my business elsewhere. If you can't treat your customers with basic respect, why would I trust you with my car? It's disappointing, especially since they have decent reviews on Yelp and Google. I expected better. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. read more

They've gained a lifelong customer, and I am absolutely recommending them to friends and family. I was told by a supposedly trusted and well-respected Japanese auto shop in STL that my brakes and rotors needed replaced. Well, I ended up at Big Bend Auto for an emissions test and decided to just book with them while I was there for brakes and tire replacement. First, at my emissions appointment, I was under the impression I needed a safety test as well. They said my car only need an emissions test, which saved me a bit of money. Next, during the brakes and tires appt, they ended up calling me to tell me there was no need for my brakes to be replaced. This saved me almost $600 dollars. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! read more

Big Bend Auto Center (the one this review pertains to) gets confused unfairly even by tow truck drivers with Big Bend Automotive down the street in Maplewood which I mistakenly posted for an experience some years ago, never to return. My ABS sensors were faulty. Obscured by dirt. My Silverado would not stop. After downloading GM service reports, took it to 1710 S. Big Bend. Cautioned service manager for techs to be very careful backing it up in the lot. Picked vehicle up (told ABS sensors cleaned but not replaced) only to learn next morning tailgate door would not open. It had been backed into wall pushing bumper in and denting at the right rear corner. The tailgate metal panel was crimped. Shop's owner said mechanic responsible denied any responsibility. Charged me full rate including a research fee for the very reports I'd provided. Further follow-up on Chevy forum advised to pull fuse for ABS/Cruise Control to disengage and avoid future collision. The ABS light has stayed on but not negated passing a safety inspection. Apologies to their competition today for posting on the wrong site on Yelp! Needing brake work. Won't use this shop closest to I-64/HWY 40. read more

These are THE GO-TO mechanics in the STL area. The people here are both incredibly friendly and very skilled, and their prices are always very reasonable as well. The place also has a large waiting area with coffee, mints, chocolates, and light reading material. Since this place is the best around it can get very busy, so you need to make an appointment ahead of time. Can't endorse this place enough. read more

I had an issue with my car that needed to be emergently checked out, and I just moved to St. Louis so don't have a regular mechanic. I called at 7am and they could fit me right away for a check. They got my car checked out so quickly and were so nice and helpful. Mike showed me what the issue was while my car was on the lift (amazing) and explained it all. I felt that they were honest with me and I'm more confident in my car now. They also have super reasonable pricing and I'm so thankful they were able to check my car out. Mike was very straightforward with me and answered all my questions after. He said they are usually pretty booked up for routine services (so make appointments in advance) but they are always available to help for emergency issues. These guys are tremendous. We had a complicated electrical issue that started as the result of a broken headlamp in our Jeep Cherokee. They replaced the headlamp, but found that there were still electrical issues due to moisture that had migrated into the wiring system when the headlamp cracked. They were thorough in their analysis and spent the time needed to get to the root cause and fix the issue. All along the process they kept us up to date on progress and what to expect. Had a fantastic experience here getting my oil changed and what I originally thought was a broken windshield fluid container that was causing a low-fluid alarm in my car. I was quoted several hundred dollars to replace the container because we thought there was a hole in it but couldn't be sure until I brought the car in and got the hood up. The technician ended up finding the container just off its mooring and replaced the seal for a few dollars. Miraculously this also must have freed up a wire to my navigation unit because my screen had not been working for a month and Audi told me it was going to cost $2000 to replace it. As a bonus, all the employees I dealt with were super friendly and appreciative of my business. Because of Covid 19 precautions, the tech wiped down my handles, steering wheel and key with a Clorox wipe. Great service! read more

It happened to be 12 degrees that morning and I wasn't looking forward to 850 miles freezing. Big Bend Auto Center was nearby so we stopped in to see if they could help us out. Update: Big Bend Auto took care of the rear window on my Honda Fit. Because they work with a 3rd party for window replacements the job was misquoted, but the owner honored the original quote at checkout. I'm new to Saint Louis and went here to have inspections done on my vehicles. I ended up having to replace the windshield on my Jeep Wrangler in order for it to pass. In addition, not two weeks later I'm currently working with them to replace my rear window on a Honda Fit. Service seems to be really great with quick turnarounds and a really personable staff. I did however drop a star for two reasons: 1) I feel that the price for the windshield replacement was pretty steep. It ended up costing close to $250, which doesn't seem too crazy until you realize how cheap flat windshields for Jeep wranglers are. I'm about to find out how expensive a domed window is with my Honda Fit. 2) I'm willing to call it a fluke, but a week later, and they never got back to me on my inquiry about my rear window. All that being said, I have a good feeling about them and feel that they are honest. read more

Ok these guys are the real deal. For the pass 6 months my regular car tire place has been telling me I needed new brakes. I moved my business to Maplewood so I wanted to business with a mom and pa operation. So I go in there and say hey I need new brakes. They quote me a fair price and take the car in. 20 min later they call me and tell me 'you don't need new brakes your current brakes have 70% of their life left in them. Who told you or what made you think needed new brakes? That kind of service and honesty just doesn't exist any more. New car place: found! read more

I was in and out within 10 minutes for an emissions test I set an appointment for 2 days ago. They had chocolate, water and a Keurig for coffee. They also have a very clean waiting area. If you sneeze, you might miss the location but I was in very good hands with friendly Dave and Steve who made sure I was made aware that I was past due for an oil change although I was in there for an emissions test. My car service warning came on but I had just changed the oil less than 2,000 miles ago so I asked if it was something to be concerned about. Mike saved me some dough by reassuring me that it simply wasn't reset the last time it was serviced and informed me how to do it, while offering to do it for me if I wanted. I went in for an emissions test and failed because the check engine light was on. They didn't give me any idea of what it would take to fix it, just gave me the error code and suggested that I call the dealer, even though I said it wasn't under warranty. I called the dealer to confirm that it's not covered. I took it to another shop who says that the fuse that powers the check engine light is missing. It had to be there when I took it to Big Bend because they were able to pull the code. I'm very disappointed and will never go back. read more

Went in to have my a/c drain unclogged. While there found out that the drain overflowed and water got into the blower motor. The quote that we were given to have the blower motor replaced included 2 hours of labor on it. Well I refused that, took it home and replaced it myself in 15 minutes. Literally 3 screws and a plug. I don't know anything about cars either so it's not like I do this all the time. Will never go back and would advise others to stear clear. read more

I now have a new car and stopped in yesterday (begging) for a tire repair as I'd run over a screw. He got me in and out in under 30 min. I've been here twice and it was a great experience both times! Had to get all 4 tires replaced the first time. They accidentally gave a quote that was missing some service charges later applied (I think). Once I asked about it, they gave me a discount to bring it closer to the original quote, which was great. More recently I had to get another tire replaced (why are there so many nails on the road in St. Louis?) and they were very helpful with directing me on how to get to the store with the flat tire and very prompt with the replacement.
